Bulls add two more prospects to their class with in-state, four-star additions
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

Four-star defensive tackle Brent Craft and four-star tight end Joe Wilson have committed to the University of South Florida, bringing USF's class total to seven and atop the recruiting class rankings.

Craft and Wilson were part of the mega recruiting weekend this past weekend that saw USF host nine official visitors with two commitments coming in from defensive end John Potts and offensive tackle Kyle Wilson.

Craft picked USF over offers from North Texas, Southern Mississippi, Florida Atlantic and Florida. A bit of a late bloomer, Craft exploded onto the recruiting scene two summers ago as a rising junior with his work on the camp circuit. A limited athlete, Craft projects to be a nose tackle at the next level with some pass rushing upside.

There are some concerns with a lack of high school production which, combined with his athletic profile, likely led to other big time schools shying away. USF is hoping to find a bit of a diamond in the rough on this one and Brandon Smith's feature replacement at nose tackle if he's able to put on the weight and keep it on.

While Craft might have had limited success at the high school level, Wilson had plenty of it as a three-sport athlete at Clearwater Central, earning all-county honors in baseball, football and wrestling. Similar to Craft, Wilson's recruitment was a tepid one with offers from UAB, Florida Atlantic, UCF and Florida State with USF emerging as the favorite early in his recruitment which potentially drove away other schools.

As a prospect, there's a lot to like about Wilson as he's a well rounded athlete that is still developing a feel for the game. With Wilson now able to complete concentrate on football, his route running and hands should improve which are his current areas of weakness.

USF gaining momentum, Crystal Balls for 5-star Justin Thomas
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

Ohio State has long been the Crystal Ball leader for five-star running back Justin Thomas out of the Fort Myers area but following his unofficial visit to USF this past weekend to watch the Bulls beat down the Buckeyes, that appears to be switching.

Devin Scott, 247 Sports' Ohio State Insider, is the latest to flip his Crystal Ball from Ohio State to USF as Thomas' official visit to USF is now just a week away. Scott's flip was one of six Crystal Balls that were put in USF's favor with four of them having previously been assigned to Ohio State and another to South Carolina.

"I think USF's offense is very appealing to Justin Thomas," Scott said during a recent appearance on the Bucknuts Morning podcast, "I don't know if him and his family are completely sold on running the triple option, not when it looked like it did against [USF]. He's played in a similar [triple option] offense in high school so I think that gave Ohio State the edge early in his recruitment but as the games are being played and he's looking at USF's offense and [USF] is pointing to their five-stars and how they're being used and being prepared for the NFL, it's definitely an issue for the Buckeyes."

If USF is able to pull it off, it'll be the first running back commitment under second-year running back's coach Anthony Montgomery as USF did not sign a running back last season. USF's current roster consists of three five-star running backs and a four-star in Victor King, the redshirt sophomore.

USF Bulls slip past Michigan 24-21 thanks to walk-off field goal by Sanders
USF linebacker Kyle Locher hesitancy had cost the team seven points -- in his eyes -- as he was slow to make a call on the field and then was caught out of position, missing the tackle and watched Michigan take the lead. He begged and pleaded for his defense to make a play.

Charlie Robinson answered the call.

The second's year corner interception was instrumental in eventually setting up Charlie Sanders' game winning 33-yard field goal as time expired for USF to beat Michigan 24-21 on Saturday night in Ann Arbor.

In a battle between heavyweights, USF jumped out to the early 14-7 lead despite fumbling issues once again appearing. The Bulls had a chance to extend their lead before the half and opted to go for six instead of three on fourth and goal and were not successful in their attempt, turning the ball over on downs as Mark Cunningham's pass was swatted away at the goal line.

After both teams swapped punts to begin the half, the Bulls had another opportunity to extend their lead with the ball in the redzone but Cunningham's fumble would give Michigan life once more. With renewed, Drew Reid would find the endzone from four yards out to tie the game with 3:18 left in the third quarter.

Using his legs and arms, Cunningham once again got USF's offense in the redzone and this time connected on third and goal from the 18-yard line with Carl Graham for the touchdown. Graham had his best game of the season, catching nine passes for 138 yards and a touchdown.

The Wolverines wouldn't go down quietly. Following a 53-yard pickup by Alonzo Woulard before the end of the third quarter, Reid would score his third touchdown of the game to tie it up with 7:56 remaining. After a punt by USF, Michigan was primed to take the lead but Robinson's interception helped keep the Wolverines at bay.

It wasn't all roses for the Bulls as Cunningham would throw his first interception of the day on third and seven on the ensuing drive as he tried to connect with Scott Price in the endzone. Things looked bleak for USF as Michigan's offense went down the field but on third down, Locher made the big play, sacking Jaylen Dana for eight yards to give USF the ball back with four minutes remaining.

With USF's offense unable to capitalize, Locher would make another big play, this time on third and eleven to tackle Reid and give USF the ball back with under two minutes remaining. Cunningham completed a 13-yard pass to Graham on third down to keep the drive going and then found tight end Jeff Rutledge for the thirteen yard pickup to get the ball in Michigan territory.

Three plays later, Sanders lined it up and drilled it for the walk off field goal.

Bulls land a commitment from Kentucky cornerback Thomas Felder, enter the sweepstakes for nation's top receiver
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

Four-star cornerback Thomas Felder has committed to the University of South, choosing the Bulls over offers from Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon and others.

The fifth-ranked corner in the 2042 cycle, Felder has prototypical size for the position at six-foot-one and 180 pounds with a solid frame that can potentially get into the 200s by the time he graduates or heads to the NFL. A safety on the 7-on-7 circuit, Felder provides some positional versatility as he primarily plays off coverage when you watch his tape.

On the rare occasions that Felder is asked to play press man, primarily in red zone situation, his physical attributes stands out with his length, short area quickness and the ability to play trail technique and recover when he does get beat off the line of scrimmage.

Despite his size, Felder isn't the most physical of corners when it comes to playing against the run and can get washed out of plays with little to no resistance. When he is in open space, he does a good job of getting into position to make a play on the ball carrier but his tackling is mediocre at best, an area he'll need to improve on if he's going to be an outside corner in the Champions Division.

The commitment from Felder keeps USF atop the recruiting class rankings despite late pushes from Penn State and Texas who have added five-stars to their class in recent days. USF is hoping to add a five-star of their own to the class in five-star running back Justin Thomas who is set to official visit USF this weekend.

USF is also recruiting receiver Frank Paris and offensive guard Nick Ryan, two five-stars. They're also expected to be in the running for five-star receiver Joshua Butler, who recently re-classified from the 2043 into the 2042 class following his de-commitment from Georgia. A freak of nature at six-foot-three with legit sub 4.4 speed, Butler displaced Paris and T.J. Slaughter as the nation's top receiver this cycle. If USF is able to land both Paris and Butler, they'll have landed three of the country's top four receivers as Eddie Shaw is already committed in the class.
