Auburn hangs tough in first half but run out of firepower in loss to USF
With Roger Shaw Jr. out of the game for most of the first half with a shoulder injury, Auburn was able to keep it close with the defending champions.

Once Shaw returned, that was all she wrote. USF put together back-to-back long scoring drives to open the second half, including a 14-play drive on their first possession before Shaw broke the game open in the fourth quarter with a 60-yard touchdown run to give the Bulls a 49-24 victory over Auburn on Saturday.

Shaw needed just a half to finish the game with 168 yards rushing and four touchdowns, adding five catches for 66 yards. He was injured in the first quarter on a near touchdown after catching a screen before being chased down at the one-yard line. Anthony Montgomery handled much of the bulk of the offense with 11 carries for 74 yards and two touchdowns with most of that production coming in the first half.

In Shaw's absence, Auburn was able to hang around thanks to a strong performance from Tom Gilmore, who threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns. It was another efficient outing from Todd Woods, who completed 86 percent of his passes for 302 yards with a touchdown and interception apiece.

Recruiting Class in Review: USF's 2029 recruiting class had all the hype but very little production from its highest ranked players
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

USF signed six five-stars in their 2029 recruiting class with one of them leaving the program, another having yet to start a single game heading into this fourth season at USF and for the remainder, it's a mix bag.

When it was all said and done, how does this class grade out? The grading criteria is as follows: 1 star for non-contributor, 2 star for depth player, 3 star for contributor, 4 star for impact starter, 5 star for a star player.

2029 USF Bulls Recruiting Class
HB E.J. Thomas [HB #1]: 5'10", 209lbs | Albany, GA | 5-star | 4.44 40-yd dash, 430 Bench Press Max, 345 Squat Max
Career Stats » 155 carries, 709 yards, 13 touchdowns at USF // 254 carries, 1788 yards, 20 touchdowns at Ohio State
Analysis » Thomas ended up being a five-star talent, just not at USF. Prior to his injury this season, Thomas was averaging 122.2 yards per game at Ohio State after rushing for over 1,000 yards last season as their backup running back. Thomas was good at USF, just never elite prior to leaving after two seasons.
Grade » 3-star

WR Louis Dukes IV [ATH #9]: 6'4", 210lbs | Owasso, OK | 5-star | 4.54 40-yd dash, 325 Bench Press Max, 345 Squat Max
Career Stats » 15 receptions, 178 yards, 2 touchdowns, 4 carries, 32 yards.
Analysis » Dukes IV does all the right things and by all accounts, is loved by the coaching staff and lauded for his work ethic. Unfortunately, his 'best' season was last year when he caught eight passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Not exactly what they had in mind from a five-star player.
Grade » 2-star

OT Michael Bowser [ATH #13]: 6'6", 268lbs | Tampa, FL | 5-star | 4.96 40-yd dash, 440 Bench Press Max, 655 Squat Max
Career Stats » 26 pancakes, 3 sacks allowed.
Analysis » After redshirting his first season to put on weight, Bowser moved around a bit along the offensive line but seems to have found his spot at left tackle where he's yet to surrender a sack this season.
Grade » 4-star

HB Anthony Montgomery [HB #3]: 6'1", 207lbs | Miami, FL | 5-star | 4.54 40-yd dash, 275 Bench Press Max, 355 Squat Max
Career Stats » 278 carries, 1721 yards, 20 touchdowns.
Analysis » Montgomery was well on his way to be a bust in this class and while he's technically not a starter, he's an impact player the last two seasons after nearly rushing for 1,000-yards last year as Roger Shaw Jr.'s backup and on pace to do the same this season as well.
Grade » 4-star

C Daniel Moore [C #1]: 6'3", 296lbs | Warner Robbins, GA | 5-star | 5.22 40-yd dash, 405 Bench Press Max, 525 Squat Max
Career Stats » No stats.
Analysis » Moore got on the field for the fist time ever last week when Cedric George left the game with an injury for a few snaps. To call Moore a bust would be an understatement as he's had a tough time just cracking the two deep.
Grade » 1-star

WR Travis Lewis [WR #5]: 6'4", 189lbs | Oak Forest, IL | 5-star | 4.54 40-yd dash, 235 Bench Press Max, 275 Squat Max
Career Stats » 18 receptions, 219 yards, 2 touchdowns.
Analysis » Lewis' production in 2031 was pretty good, catching sixteen passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, similar to Dukes, you expect more than that from a five-star receiver.
Grade » 2-star

HB/DB David Daniel [ATH #28]: 6'2", 221lbs | Tallahassee, FL | 4-star | 4.60 40-yd dash, 340 Bench Press Max, 300 Squat Max
Career Stats » 101 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 2 interceptions, PBU.
Analysis » He didn't play much his first two seasons but splashed onto the scene last season, earning All-American honors as a sure tackling safety. He's already on pace for a better year during his senior campaign.
Grade » 4-star

OLB Mark Johnson [OLB #3]: 6'2", 226lbs | Fairland, MD | 4-star | 4.56 40-yd dash, 370 Bench Press Max, 595 Squat Max
Career Stats » 302 tackles, 80 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 9 interceptions, 11 PBU, 3 FF, FR.
Analysis » After a bit of a sophomore slump, Johnson was able to match his award winning true freshman season last year, recording 22 tackles for loss and 94 tackles along with three interceptions in a very impressive season. He's off to another great start this season to bookend what has been an amazing career at USF, anchoring elite defenses.
Grade » 5-star

ILB Bill Pace [ILB #10]: 6'1", 242lbs | Homeland Park, SC | 4-star | 4.70 40-yd dash, 420 Bench Press Max, 545 Squat Max
Career Stats » 7 tackles, tackle for loss, sack at USF // 40 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, INT, 6 PBU, FF.
Analysis » Pace transferred to N.C. State after two seasons at USF where he played mainly on special teams. After redshirting last season at NC State, he's having a quality season for the Wolfpak as their starting middle linebacker.
Grade » 2-star

ILB Curtis Carter [ILB #11]: 5'11", 223lbs | Hallandale, FL | 4-star | 4.62 40-yd dash, 375 Bench Press Max, 585 Squat Max
Career Stats » 63 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, PBU.
Analysis » While Pace jumped ship, Carter remained patient after not playing his first three seasons and is currently having an All-American level season as a first-time starter during his senior season.
Grade » 3-star

DT Dwayne Callahan [DT #6]: 6'4", 300lbs | Tallahassee, FL | 4-star | 5.06 40-yd dash, 450 Bench Press, 595 Squat Max
Career Stats » 14 tackles, 8 tackle for loss, 4 sacks, FF.
Analysis » A common theme, Callahan didn't get on the field frequently until this season as a senior and he's been a good player for the Bulls.
Grade » 3-star

TE Chance Fisher [TE #9]: 6'5", 257lbs | West Milford, NJ | 4-star | 4.58 40-yd dash, 425 Bench Press Max, 250 Squat Max
Career Stats » 31 receptions, 337 yards, 7 touchdowns, 2 pancakes.
Analysis » The use of tight ends has diminished in the Bulls offense under Calvin Magee and the revival of the position under Francois as the play caller has given Fisher some juice the last two seasons with six touchdown catches.
Grade » 3-star

CB Adam Kelly [CB #30]: 5'11", 179lbs | Tampa, FL | 3-star | 4.38 40-yd dash, 245 Bench Press Max, 250 Squat Max
Career Stats » 30 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, sack, interception, PBU.
Analysis » Kelly has been exactly what fans can expect from a three-star, 30th ranked cornerback when they sign one. He played decent as a dime back in 2031 and this season, was the team's starter at nickel but has since lost that job to a more talented Richie Cowan.
Grade » 2-star

ATH Brad Williams [ATH #68]: 6'4", 211lbs | Palm Beach Gardens, FL (JUCO) | 3-star | 4.36 40-yd dash, 265 Bench Press Max, 285 Squat Max
Career Stats » 38 receptions, 597 yards, 4 touchdowns.
Analysis » If Williams had more eligibility, he could have been a really good player for the Bulls. After not playing much his first season, Williams turned into one of the team's better receivers his senior year.
Grade » 3-star

ILB Willie Lawrence [ILB #61]: 5'10", 244lbs | Tamiami, FL | 3-star | 4.66 40-yd dash, 360 Bench Press Max, 520 Squat Max
Career Stats » 1 tackle.
Analysis » A perennial backup and special teams player.
Grade » 1-star

T James Jones [T #93]: 6'7", 303lbs | Tampa, FL | 3-star | 4.84 40-yd dash, 395 Bench Press Max, 570 Squat Max
Career Stats » No stats.
Analysis » Jones hasn't and likely won't ever see the field for the Bulls in any meaningful capacity.
Grade » 1-star

Superlative Awards
Most Important Signing: Moore was the top ranked center and gave USF two five-stars offensive linemen as the team was in the midst of starting to really recruit at a high level along the offensive line.

Most Productive Signing: Bowser, Montgomery and Daniel make a strong case but Mark Johnson is the best player from this class.

Biggest Bust of the Class: It's Moore and not even close.

Most Untapped Potential: Seeing what E.J. Thomas is doing in the Buckeyes offense and what Montgomery is doing in the Francois-led offense makes you wonder if Thomas would have had a better career at USF had he stuck around.

Biggest Steal of the Class: Brad Williams ended up being a high caliber receiver in an offense that wasn't particularly very good so imagine him in this offense with quality quarterback play and play calling.

Biggest Lost of the Class: Derrick Hunter (TE, Florida State, 95 ovr) is a good selection for this with 74 career receptions for 953 yards and nine touchdowns but again, the offense under Magee likely would have under utilized him as well. The other five-star USF swung and missed on was Jon Hamby (DE, Texas, 93 ovr) who had 12 sacks in the last two seasons but USF has had plenty of production at that position without him.

The winner? Former four-star Kyle Moss (C, Navy, 97 ovr) whose paved the way for Heisman winners and elite rushing attacks with 85 pancakes and just 12 sacks allowed in four seasons at Annapolis.

Yeah, no wins over ranked opponents and just Purdue had a winning record. I'll take the quality win when I'm done with they ass though.

#6 USF (8-1, 6-1) | 0 | 7 | 7 | 7 || 21

USF Bulls win 21-10 against Minnesota Golden Gophers
Four forced turnovers including three in the first half, holding USF's rushing attack to less than five yards per carry and keeping the time of possession relatively even. Minnesota did all of these things and yet, never led beyond the first quarter as USF's defense was able to lead them to a 21-10 win over the Gophers on Saturday night.

On Senior Night, fifth-year senior Todd Woods had perhaps his toughest game of his career, throwing two first half interceptions as well as a botched option play that resulted in Minnesota getting the ball. Roger Shaw Jr. who might also be playing in his last home game as a Bull, was kept in check for most of the game with just one run of over 20 yards.

However, USF's defense was able to stimmy the Gophers offense, holding them to just 114 yards on the ground with 79 of those yards coming on their only touchdown of the game.

Five-star receiver Iosefo joins teammate and QB Jeff Jones, commits to USF Bulls
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

USF wide receivers coach Malcolm Francois Jr. was promoted to co-OC and many close to the program think that the former USF receiver is a potential future head coach. He keeps recruiting at this level, schools are going to come knocking.

Francois landed his third five-star receiver on Saturday morning when Hawaii native and IMG receiver Marques Iosefo chose the Bulls over Minnesota, Alabama, Notre Dame and Arkansas.

The five-foot-eleven receiver had been trending towards the Bulls for a while now and quarterback Jeff Jones' commitment to USF a few weeks ago all but sealed Iosefo's recruitment. The two are teammates at IMG where Iosefo leads the Ascenders in receptions.

Iosefo is the eleventh ranked player in this class and the third ranked receiver, becoming the Bulls highest commit in a class that features two other five-stars in receivers Buck Duckett and Kevin Morris. Of the three, Iosefo is the smallest and slightest of frame at 171 pounds but he's an extremely polished receiver that could be competing for a starting spot by his second or third season with his ability to create separation as well as make something happen after the catch.
