USF QB Woods still getting bulk of first-team reps at practice
Johnny Murray -- The Tampa Bay Times Sports Columnist

USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. has maintained that there has been no changes to the quarterback situation and pushed back on the notion that redshirt senior and starter Todd Woods was benched last week in favor of redshirt freshman Thomas Jackson.

"We've always wanted to try to play different guys," said Francois Sr. on Monday when asked if Woods was still the starter, "[Jackson] played some early in the season, got hurt so we didn't see him again but the plan was to always get him and Todd [Woods] in there so nothing's changed really, Woods is our starter."

According to reports, Woods took the bulk of first-team reps at practice this week with both Jackson and redshirt sophomore Brandon Wilson also getting snaps with the first team in anticipation of the regular season finale against UCF.

Woods got off to a good start on the season but had thrown six interceptions in his last two full games, bringing his season total to 13 and Jackson finishing the game against Miami on the road. Jackson is already third on the team with 112 rushing yards in his limited appearances.

#19 USF (9-3, 6-3) | 21 | 14 | 0 | 7 || 42
UCF (6-6, 5-4) | 7 | 14 | 3 | 8 || 32
-----------------------------------------------

The Bulls are elated following a road victory over rival UCF
It was fitting that USF running back Roger Shaw Jr. would break Troy Henry's decade old record at USF for most career rushing yards on one of his patented long runs up the sideline, leaving the defense in his wake.

It just so happen that the 65-yard touchdown would prove to be the game sealing touchdown as USF was able to hold off the UCF comeback and win 42-32 on Friday to halt their two game winning streak.

USF had jumped out to a 21-0 lead thanks to touchdown runs by both Shaw and quarterback Todd Woods and a 32-yard touchdown pass to Brent Cunningham. However, Woods' interception in the second quarter allowed UCF to climb back into the game with back to back touchdowns.

Woods continued to rotate at quarterback with redshirt freshman Thomas Jackson, who finished the second half with two scoring drives to enter the half with 35 points and a fourteen point lead.

Jackson remained in the game and UCF adjusted to the more mobile option, holding him to completing just 59 percent of his passes and intercepting him as well. As the fourth quarter got on, however, USF was able to rely once more on Shaw Jr. to finish the game off for them.

Shaw rushed for 238 yards and three touchdowns, bringing his season total to 1,870 rushing yards and an outside shot at a 2,000-yard season should he choose to play in the Bulls bowl game. Shaw's 4,333 career rushing yards is the second most among active players, trailing only Washington senior running back Chris Jones with 4,618 yards.

Good win to cap the season. Maybe you'll get a good bowl against someone you haven't played before/for a while
