USF's defense leads the way in 21-0 victory against Evans, Florida State
The Stanford Cardinal repeatedly punched USF's defense in the mouth with their rushing attack and the Bulls top ranked rushing defense had no answers.

On Saturday, they had all of them as USF shutout Florida State 21-0 to earn their eight win of the season and be one win away from sweeping the state of Florida.

The Seminoles offense was held to just 191 yards and just 86 yards on the ground as Florida State was never able to get much going despite a strong showing from their defense. USF walked away with just fourteen points in four redzone trips, including the last one which resulted in Jeff Jones leaving the game with a rib injury.

USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. described the injury as minor and that Jones could have finished the game if it wasn't already secured.

Bulls add two more commitments in the class along the trenches to climb into top two ranking
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

Four-star defensive end David Richardson and center Brad Bonner have committed to the University of South Florida bringing the Bulls' class total to thirteen with potential one more major addition on the way.

Richardson is originally from the Naples area but moved to Tampa during his sophomore season where he's blown up as a recruit and considered by many to be the best defensive linemen in the state. At six-foot-three, Richardson has a frame that could potentially continue to add weight as his skill set is best suited for either a strong-side defensive end in a four-man front or as a five-technique in an odd front.

He's very limited as a pass rusher but his quick first step and powerful hands allow him to wreck havoc at the high school level. He'll need to continue to develop in order to be an every down player at the next level but could be an early impact player on short yardage situations with his strength.

If Richardson ever kicks inside to defensive tackle, he might get a chance to go up against Bonner, the nation's fourth ranked center who USF likes at either guard spots but will more than likely remain put at center. He's not as gifted of an athlete as the Bulls typically like in their sweep and toss heavy offense that depend on athletic guards that are able to get to the perimeter and make blocks out in space. If Bonner was a bit taller, right tackle wouldn't be out of the question either for him as he's a very developed pass blocker.

Both Bonner and Richardson were on campus this past weekend along with five-star D.J. Manning who USF feels very strongly about landing a commitment from him soon. Hometown Miami has fallen out of the picture in recent weeks and so has Florida State, leaving USF as the likely favorite to land his commitment if they can fight off Georgia Tech.

If USF is able to land Manning, they'd have signed not only the top three receivers in the country but the top three players in the class altogether, a feat that's never been done in the 247 Sports era. It would all but guarantee the Bulls finish with the highest rated class despite only signing fourteen players. They're currently in second place behind Navy.

Recruiting Class in Review: USF's class of '32 gave them the depth and talent required for championship push in 2034
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

Fresh off a national championship in 2031, USF was able to sign a top three class that included the second best player in the country, stealing him from Alabama after the Tide had stolen the top receiver in the state. With 20 players in the class, USF was able to fill in a lot of depth for a team that would go on to win a national championship once more in two years.

When it was all said and done, how does this class grade out? The grading criteria is as follows: 1 star for non-contributor, 2 star for depth player, 3 star for contributor, 4 star for impact starter, 5 star for a star player.

2032 USF Bulls Recruiting Class
WR Robert Givens [WR #1]: 6'3", 192lbs | Phenix City, AL | 5-star | 4.42 40-yd dash, 280 Bench Press Max, 265 Squat Max
Career Stats » 176 receptions, 2323 yards, 20 touchdowns.
Analysis » An injury his junior season slowed him down but Givens was well on his way to be a 3,000-yard receiver and 30-touchdown kind of guy which is rare territory for a three-year player.
Grade » 5-star

DB Clayton Bradford [ATH #4]: 5'10", 192lbs | Deltona, FL [IMG Academy] | 5-star | 4.44 40-yd dash, 300 Bench Press Max, 320 Squat Max
Career Stats » 149 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 9 interceptions, touchdown, 6 PBU, 3 FR, 26 receptions, 298 yards, 3 touchdowns.
Analysis » A three-year starter that also started at receiver his junior season, Bradford was an impact player as a ball hawking safety that also provided quality run support. Bradford was the leader of a defense that was instrumental in winning the national championship in 2034.
Grade » 5-star

HB Danny Felder [HB #4]: 6'2", 210lbs | El Reno, OK | 4-star | 4.50 40-yd dash, 395 Bench Press Max, 320 Squat Max
Career Stats » 155 carries, 774 yards, 7 touchdowns, 51 receptions, 414 yards, 3 touchdowns at USF | 513 carries, 3053 yards, 29 touchdowns, 13 receptions, 215 yards, 2 touchdowns at Kentucky
Analysis » Felder emerged as the top back in 2033 but opted to transfer to Kentucky for his junior and senior season where he was a star player for the Wildcat. Not a miss in terms of evaluation but getting just one season of production for a high 4-star is disappointing.
Grade » 3-star

T Tony Kelly [T #1]: 6'4", 293lbs | San Carlos, AZ | 4-star | 4.94 40-yd dash, 425 Bench Press Max, 610 Squat Max
Career Stats » 16 pancakes, 4 sacks allowed.
Analysis » Kelly was a standout in 2034 after redshirting his first season and being a backup his second season. He's regressed a bit in 2035 but is still a solid left tackle that could increase his draft stock if he returns next season as a fifth-year senior.
Grade » 3-star

FB/TE Keith Oliver [ATH #16]: 6'6", 270lbs | Carol City, FL | 4-star | 5.00 40-yd dash, 420 Bench Press Max, 620 Squat Max
Career Stats » 11 carries, 57 yards, 52 receptions, 464 yards, 8 touchdowns, 38 pancakes.
Analysis » A man without a home, Oliver was a high school right tackle that USF tried to turn into a tight end and eventually a fullback. He's back at tight end under this new offense where on top of being a reliable run blocker, he's also a sneaky good receiver with five touchdowns this year and twenty eight receptions.
Grade » 3-star

CB Richie Cowan [CB #2]: 5'10", 169lbs | Miami Beach, FL | 4-star | 4.32 40-yd dash, 240 Bench Press Max, 250 Squat Max
Career Stats » 125 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 8 interceptions, touchdown, 8 PBU, 2 FF, 2 FR.
Analysis » Despite being undersized, Cowan played right away as a nickel and dime back before being a starter his last two seasons at USF before declaring early for the draft. Cowan was one of the better corners in the SEC all three years at USF.
Grade » 4-star

DB Zach Mack [ATH #37]: 5'9", 166lbs | Harvey, LA | 4-star | 4.52 40-yd dash, 280 Bench Press Max, 280 Squat Max
Career Stats » 183 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 3 interceptions, 10 PBU, FF.
Analysis » The forgotten man with so much hype around Cowan and Bradford during the recruitment cycle, Mack was probably the best of the bunch in terms of reliability as he stabilized that defense with his range and sure tackling.
Grade » 5-star

DE Aaron Bean [DE #14]: 6'5", 254lbs | Palm Coast, FL | 4-star | 4.70 40-yd dash, 395 Bench Press Max, 560 Squat Max
Career Stats » 47 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, FF.
Analysis » A rotational player the last two seasons, Bean has been one of USF's better defensive linemen during that time period after not playing much his first two years.
Grade » 3-star

DT Michael Guillory [DE #24]: 6'3", 272lbs | San Buenaventura, CA | 4-star | 4.76 40-yd dash, 405 Bench Press Max, 510 Squat Max
Career Stats » 2 tackles, tackle for loss.
Analysis » Too slow to play defensive end, too small to be an every down defensive tackle, Guillory hasn't been a factor in four seasons at USF. He's a player to watch as a potential transfer portal kid with looming sanctions.
Grade » 1-star

DT Pete Ford [DT #18]: 6'6", 277lbs | Lawrenceville, GA | 3-star | 4.98 40-yd dash, 365 Bench Press Max, 605 Squat Max
Career Stats » 26 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 5 sacks.
Analysis » Ford has been a key piece of a deep rotation at defensive tackle that has helped guide USF to one of the nation's best run defenses in the past few seasons.
Grade » 3-star

HB William Jones [HB #34]: 6'2", 208lbs | West Palm Beach, FL | 3-star | 4.38 40-yd dash, 420 Bench Press Max, 300 Squat Max
Career Stats » 187 carries, 870 yards, 9 touchdowns, 47 receptions, 331 yards.
Analysis » There's a lot to like about Jones physically but he had a tough depth chart to break through. Bobby Jackson's injury has allowed for Jones to make an impact this season and show that he's a serviceable, SEC running back.
Grade » 3-star

S/LB Brad Davis [S #9]: 6'2", 211lbs | Mountain Park, GA | 3-star | 4.64 40-yd dash, 345 Bench Press Max, 320 Squat Max
Career Stats » 2 tackles.
Analysis » Davis was a two-year backup at safety before moving to linebacker this season where he's also a backup and core special teams player.
Grade » 1-star

S/LB Jim Thompson [S #16]: 6'1", 199lbs | West Palm Beach, FL | 3-star | 4.64 40-yd dash, 365 Bench Press Max, 275 Squat Max
Career Stats » No stats.
Analysis » Similar to Davis, Thompson is making the move to linebacker.
Grade » 1-STAR

QB Jared Barr [QB #43]: 6'1", 191lbs | Casselberry, FL | 3-star | 4.62 40-yd dash, 285 Bench Press Max, 305 Squat Max
Career Stats » 8 of 15, 60 yards, touchdown, interception. 4 carries, 76 yards, touchdown.
Analysis » A career backup whose feet allowed him to get on the field some in 2034 but not much since.
Grade » 1-star

G Jasper Lee [G #40]: 6'3", 280lbs | Tampa, FL | 3-star | 5.14 40-yd dash, 440 Bench Press Max, 580 Squat Max
Career Stats » No stats.
Analysis » A two-deep backup that likely will never play at USF.
Grade » 1-star

LB Nick Robinson [OLB #54]: 6'1", 206lbs | Tampa, FL | 3-star | 4.74 40-yd dash, 425 Bench Press Max, 535 Squat Max
Career Stats » 130 tackles, 38 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 5 PBU, FF.
Analysis » An undersized linebacker that looked like a safety but didn't play like it, USF kept Robinson at Will backer and it paid off. While Chris Williams is the star of the LB room, Robinson might be the underrated leader of the defense as a whole.
Grade » 4-star

WR Bryan Mangum [WR #126]: 6'1", 191lbs | Glendale, CA [juco] | 3-star | 4.34 40-yd dash, 265 Bench Press Max, 210 Squat
Career Stats » 128 receptions, 1485 yards, 11 touchdowns.
Analysis » A backup his first-year, Mangum exploded his second-year and surprisingly led the team in receptions and receiving yards as part of a record breaking offense. Due to him being a JUCO, it was only one season which keeps Mangum from getting a fifth star.
Grade » 4-star

TE Gemara Siegel [TE #45]: 6'5", 262lbs | Boca Raton, FL | 3-star | 4.66 40-yd dash, 335 Bench Press Max, 290 Squat Max
Career Stats » 23 receptions, 237 yards, 4 touchdowns.
Analysis » Similar to Oliver, Siegel's skillset as a blocking tight end didn't fit USF's offense during his time there as they were going with smaller, more athletic tight ends. He produced some in 2034 with fifteen receptions for 186 yards but all in all, a career backup.
Grade » 2-star

CB Kevin Collins [CB #75]: 6'1", 171lbs | Pompano Beach, FL | 3-star | 4.48 40-yd dash, 275 Bench Press Max, 210 Squat Max
Career Stats » 28 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 4 interceptions, 2 PBU.
Analysis » Collins stuck around until it was his return and as a redshirt junior, he's been a baller for the Bulls secondary as one of their top corners following the injury to Joe Jackson. Collins is yet another feather in the cap of USF's billing as an elite developer of cornerback talent.
Grade » 4-star

S Joel Bradley [S #48]: 6'2", 210lbs | North Miami, FL | 3-star | 4.60 40-yd dash, 275 Bench Press Max, 315 Squat Max
Career Stats » 5 tackles.
Analysis » A career backup.
Grade » 2-star

Superlative Awards
Most Important Signing: USF had lost Courtney Purcell, the top ranked receiver in Florida, to Alabama so landing Givens was a big win on the trail, especially on National Signing Day.

Most Productive Signing: With Givens missing over half of his junior season, Bradford gets the nod as he was an All-American selection a few times during his stint at USF. Mack is also a worthy nomination.

Biggest Bust of the Class: The only four-star to never start, Michael Guillory gets the honor.

Most Untapped Potential: Is Oliver, in this current offense, more of an impact player for all four years? A blocking specialist, there wasn't much need for him in Francois Jr's offense nor Greer's.

Biggest Steal of the Class: Mangum and Robinson share this title as Mangum was a JUCO prospect that turned into a legit threat from the slot while Robinson is a three-year starter at linebacker despite being the 54th ranked outside linebacker in his class.

Biggest Lost of the Class: Mentioned a few times already in Courtney Purcell (90 overall) who ended up being a decent college receiver after not playing much in his first four years at Alabama. In-state cornerback Tavares Campbell (USC, 94 overall) is probably the most productive player that USF swung and miss on along with Miami defensive tackle Terry Young (90 ovr) who has fifteen tackles for loss in his career with the Hurricanes.

USF in shock after the devastating loss to Miami
It's often said that games are lost more than they are won.

There were no truer statement on Saturday afternoon as USF fumbled away opportunity after opportunity to put the Miami Hurricanes away and in the end, Luke Dougherty's interception at the goal line sealed 19-14 win for Miami.

After trailing the entire game, Keith Oliver scored consecutive touchdowns to give USF the 14-10 lead with 7:53 left in the game. USF was able to shorten the lead on the ensuing possession with a field goal.

The Bulls, led by quarterback Jeff Jones, drove the ball into the red zone and had a chance to extend their lead and potentially put away the game for good but instead Jones threw an interception at the one-yard line. It would be one of three trips into the endzone with USF scoring just once.

USF's defense almost secured the victory after forcing a fourth and twelve with a third down sack with less than two minutes left in the game but Ryan Joseph was able to convert, completing a pass across the middle to Andrew Barnett who had gotten away from safety Wesley Adams who intercepted Joseph in the third quarter.

The Bulls opted to let Miami score, taking a 19-14 lead and after a 50-yard kickoff return by Sam Washington, USF caught Miami's defense by surprise with a 26-yard run by Donte McCarthy to put them within striking distance.

After three more completions, USF had the ball within the five-yard line when Jones threw his third interception of the day to end all chances of a comeback.

The loss ended USF's 27 game winning streak at home, the second longest in program history. It was Jones' first loss at home and likely his last one as he's projected to declare early for the draft.
