Jones breaks school record in Bulls rout of Florida Gators
When USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. promoted his son and Bulls wide receivers coach Malcolm Francois Jr. to offensive coordinator two seasons ago, it began the grooming process for Francois Jr. to eventually be the team's offensive play caller. Francois Sr. passed those reigns this offseason and told the media that his son was in charge of the offense completely and that he, a run-heavy oriented play caller, wouldn't be a shadowy puppet master.

We now know this to be true.

In his third career start, true freshman Jeff Jones broke the school record for passing yards, throwing for 569 yards and six touchdowns in the Bulls 52-6 victory over the Florida Gators on Saturday.

Jones had over three hundred yards by halftime, ending it with a three-yard touchdown pass to tight end Matthew Smith on a RPO play, a staple of Francois Jr's new look offense for the Bulls. Jones threw the ball 70 times, another school record, and three Bulls players finished with over ten catches and six players had at least five receptions, including running back Danny Felder.

Felder had just six carries but also caught nine passes in what was an extension of the running game at a much more efficient clip, averaging 8.1 yards per reception.

Bulls offense slows down in second half but survive a thrilling 37-35 game against Georgia
USF true freshman quarterback Jeff Jones had set school records by his third career start but one thing he hadn't done as played from behind in the fourth quarter and had to lead a comeback drive.

The star quarterback passed with flying colors, leading USF down the field with a little over a minute left for Adam Cain's game winning field goal to beat the Georgia Bulldogs 37-35.

Georgia had put together three straight scoring drives in the fourth quarter as USF's offense seemingly ran out of gas, punting on back to back drives for the first time all season. Georgia was able to lean on its big fullback Terrence Morgan for two of those three touchdowns with Morgan finishing the game with three touchdowns. It was his three-yard run with 1:08 left in the game that gave the Bulldogs its first lead of the game after at one point trailing 27-7.

Jones had no problem getting the offense down the field but they eventually stalled with two straight incompletions and a loss of four yards on a screen pass to force the Bulls to attempt a 53-yard field goal.

USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. called a timeout with eight seconds left to discuss their options, either going for it on fourth and long to get closer for a field goal, put their regular kicker Brian Henry out there -- who hasn't missed a kick in his career -- or used their punter Adam Cain, whose been their long field goal specialist this season.

Francois chose the latter and it was an easy kick for Cain which all but sealed the Bulls victory. They were able to intercept the Bulldogs Hail Mary attempt to close out the game.
