I cannot seem to get away from Madden 08. 19 and 20 were solid games, and on PC were really great. Yet, they lack the charm and depth 08 still has over them, which is wild to me. So here are again. I had two great Madden 08 chises over on SS with the 2007 Ravens and the 2012 Bills and I'm ready to get back it. Thanks for dropping by.

Nick Sabans Resigns to Take Alabama Job
Image
January 4, 2007

DAVIE, Fla. -- "I am not going to be the Alabama coach."

After weeks of vehement denial that he would not abandon the rebuild project handed to him two years ago, Nick Saban is walking away from the Miami Dolphins to take the head coach opening for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga seemed unperturbed by the move that he was made aware of this Wednesday after a meeting at Saban's home.

"It is what it is," Huizenga started. "I'm not upset, because it is more involved than you think."

Saban had reportedly always been drawn to the college game and was experiencing a bit of buyer's remorse taking the Dolphins job after National Championship-level success at LSU. After a 15-17 record with the Dolphins, capped off by Saban's first losing season as head coach, he has decided to buy into Bama athletic director Mal Moore's pitch to build the Crimson Tide. The timing is ideal since the NCAA recruiting "dead period" ends this upcoming Friday.

The Dolphins now have the tall task of bringing a new head coach to lead the charge of this rebuild under general manager Randy Mueller. Names like Chicago Bears' defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, and former Packers head coach Mike Sherman have been thrown around as potential replacements. Whoever replaces will be the fourth Dolphins head coach in nine years.

Miami Tabs Chargers' OC Cameron as Head Coach

DAVIE, Fla. -- The search for the next head coach of the Miami Dolphins is over as they have successfully nabbed San Diego Charger's offensive coordinator Cam Cameron.

"There's a lot of great people in the organization," Cameron said in his introductory press conference. "I know Wayne, Randy, and I are all ready to win, and win soon."

The hiring comes on the heels of the surprise resignation of last year's head coach Nick Saban, who took the head coaching job at the University of Alabama after declining interest in the position throughout the 2006 season. Saban's Dolphins finished 9-7 in 2005 but regressed to 6-10 last year. Cameron is set to be the fifth Dolphins head coach since Don Shula's retirement in 1994. The team Cameron is inheriting was anemic on offense this past season and is aging heavily on defense.

The Dolphins search for a head coach definitely leaned more towards the offensive side of the ball, with the team averaging a lowly 16.3 points per game, their lowest mark since 1967. Cameron, with an offense spearheaded by young star QB Phillip Rivers and MVP LaDanian Tomlinson, helped lead the Chargers to an exciting 14-2 record.

Cameron confirmed he planned on retaining coordinators Mike Mularkey and Dom Capers, but he also plans on handling offensive install and playcalling this season.

"We're going to build an elite team here, and we are going to win."

Cam Cameron Coaching History:
  • 1984-1993: University of Michigan - Graduate Assistant ('84)/Wide Receivers Coach ('86-'89)/Quarterbacks Coach ('90-'93)
  • 1994-1996: Washington Redskins - Quarterbacks Coach
  • 1997-2001: University of Indiana - Head Coach (18-37 record)
  • 2002-2006: San Diego Chargers - Offensive Coordinator
