Stories
Ahead of the Week 6 trade deadline, the Raiders have finally dealt disgruntled receiver Jerry Porter to the San Francisco 49ers for WR Bryan Gilmore and a 2008 3rd round pick.
In the wake of the Porter trade, the Raiders have also signed former Lions 2003 second overall pick Charles Rogers. He was released by the Lions ahead of last season's start and did not find a new home during the offseason.
The Colts will be without Peyton Manning for the first time since the team drafted him due to a knee injury. Jim Sorgi is set to make his first career start. They have signed QB Doug Johnson to serve as a back-up.
Pittsburgh will also be without their franchise QB Roethlisberger after he suffered a chest injury. Back-up Charlie Batch is listed as probable after recovering from a preseason back injury.
The Titans are considering placing all-pro center Kevin Mawae on the injured reserve list after a back injury sustained last week.
Alex Smith struggled mightily in his first start of the season, throwing two costly interceptions in the 49ers 38-10 loss.
Edgerrin James carried the ball a whopping 39 times for 158 yards in the Cardinals divisional win over the Rams.
Chiefs DE Jared Allen and the front office remain far apart on terms for his contract extension. He is requesting upwards of $10.50M per year.
After trading for the young star LB, the Panthers have successfully extended Lance Briggs for three years worth about $30M with a nearly $7M signing bonus.

Week 5 in Review

October 12, 2007

DAVIE Fla. -- Cam Cameron addresses the media on the team's second win and their upcoming game against the Browns.

On what last week's win means to the team
"We're feeling confident now is all. We win next week, we're at .500 and we're competing for a playoff spot. We're definitely not out of this yet."

On John Beck's rocky first start
"John definitely struggled, no doubt. But we also can't take away the plays he did make. Both his scores were huge. We're not benching him, we're gonna rally around him until Trent is healthy."

On Ronnie Brown's recent performances
"Honestly if our record is better he's likely a front-runner for MVP. He's our life-blood, I mean seriously. Back-to-back games with 90+ yard scores? He's unreal."

On the trade deadline upcoming
"We're not shopping anyone right now, but I know we're keeping the phone lines open. I doubt there will be any movement from us."

Keys to victory against the Browns
"We need to tackle well. The last thing we need is Braylon Edwards or Jamal Lewis to run loose on us. Creating good field position with special teams will be huge here. But ultimately, we need John to play his brand of football. The nerves should be gone, and we should see the player we've been seeing off the bench who is a touchdown machine."

Panthers 18 - Cardinals 15
Patriots 33 - Cowboys 9
Raiders 10 - Chargers 31
Saints 10 - Seahawks 17
Giants 31 - Falcons 10

Stories
The Patriots made the largest move at the deadline, trading star cornerback Asante Samuel to the Detroit Lions for their 2008 1st and 4th round picks and a 2009 2nd round pick and their cornerback Stanley Wilson. The team had been far apart on negotiations on a new deal with the 26-year old since training camp, and it seems Belichick has decided that getting something for Samuel instead of letting him go in free agency for nothing. But the move may have backfired already, as the team's other starting cornerback Ellis Hobbs suffered a serious shoulder injury in the team's win over the Cowboys. The team will now turn to recently signed corner Keiwan Ratliff, Randall Gay, and newly acquired Stanley Wilson to hold down the position.
Gary Kubiak is firmly in the hot seat in his second season as Texans head coach. After a 6-10 first season, the Texans are currently the only winless team in the NFL and it doesn't seem to be getting any better with their last loss to the Jaguars.

Week 6 in Review

October 19, 2007

DAVIE Fla. -- Cam Cameron talks about the team's three-game winning streak and their toughest game yet against the New England Patriots.

On the three-game win streak
"Like I said last week, we're not out of this yet. We had the growing pains of new leadership but we're really finding a groove now."

On Trent Green's health and availability, and John Beck's job filling in
"Team docs say Trent looks good, and he's been able to throw with full-motion since the end of last week. We're gonna hand the reigns back to him, but we definitely saw enough from JB to know he's going to be solid for us."

On Ricky Williams returning this week
"Ricky has been keeping in good shape and has had his head in the playbook. He'll get his snaps this week, and just soon enough because we'll need him against the Patriots."

On Michael Lehan's season-ending injury and signing CB A.J. Davis
"Mike was pretty bummed about the season being over, and we're going to miss him. But we know the sport, it's the next man up. And we're glad to bring in A.J. Davis. We had him on our board this past draft and we were pretty happy to see him available on Detroit's practice squad."

Keys to victory against the Patriots
"I don't have to tell you guys this is going to be a serious challenge. Brady, Moss, our old guy Welker. That offense is explosive and being down Lehan hurts. At the end of the day, if we can score points, we'll have a chance.
