The CanAm Conference

Game: NCAA Football 14
Platform: XBOX360
Quarter Length: 8 minutes
Sliders: Custom
Rosters: 2013 OS rosters, all Canadian teams 2013 rosters
Start Year: 2013
Historical Accuracy Note: I have chosen to use 2013 as this is the original year of the game, and also the first year of Carleton Football after disbanding the program in 1998. As such, I will be referring to this on occasion, most notably surrounding the revival of the “Panda Game” rivalry with the University of Ottawa. Also, Carleton Basketball is the undisputed king of Canadian college hoops, winning 15 of the last 18 national championships. I’ve included this angle in my story arc, as you will often see fictional players I’ve added as “two sport athletes”, often pertaining to basketball.
Recruiting: Must target a minimum of 8 Canadian prospects each season. No recruits over 3* outside Canada until we win a major bowl game. (BCS, New Years Day, or Dec31) American 4* prospects will be allowed before this ONLY if they are: Pipeline or border state, Top3 interest, AND have only one Power5 school on their list. Any 5* prospect must have us ranked Top3 to start season to recruit them, unless from pipeline state then Top5. One note, I am allowing Texas as a pipeline state. The reason being that, as a created team, a large number of players are from TX, GA, PA, FL and CA so those are automatic pipelines. I’m intentionally avoiding those states until those players graduate, but my storyline includes being a former HS player and coach in Texas so I’ve allowed it for conceptual symmetry. And now...on with the show...

***PRESS CONFERENCE***
Ottawa, ONT, Canada

AD: The Carleton University Ravens athletic department is proud to announce the hiring of head coach Chris Weber. We considered many candidates, but we felt Coach Weber’s dual-citizenship and especially his ties to both New Jersey and Texas high school football, will be the key to our programs success for many years. Joining the new Can-Am conference also helped guide our decision, as we wanted a coach more familiar with traditional American 4-down football. His interest in returning to American football, as well as his record here in the CFL really made it a perfect fit for all of us. Now we turn things over to Coach Weber...

WEBER: Thank you AD Rock...Welcome everyone to a new day for Ravens Football! I’m excited to be taking over this team, and hope to restore the winning tradition of Carleton Athletics to the gridiron. We have a lot of athletes on this team and we’re going to use them. On this team your position is football player...that’s it. If you think you can make a play somewhere...speak up and say “Coach I got this one” and maybe you’ll get that chance. We have nowhere to go but up, and most of them are expecting the American teams to have their way with our division. We’re out to prove them wrong. We’re looking to win the CanAm championship and that’s our #1 goal. I’ve already talked to Freddie Williamson about joining us from the hardwood and playing some tightend or wide out...his big 6’10 frame could dominate the red zone. And we’re gonna toss that rock a lot. I’ve got a new system already to go that takes the high flying air raid of the CFL and puts it in the 11-man game...we’re calling it the Bird-Shot and y’all are gonna see some fireworks from it this year. Thanks everyone for coming and Go Ravens!!

Week 2-3

Recruiting in the Bye during week 2 has given us an inside track on 3* QB Prospect Chaz Avery out of San Antonio, TX. Chaz started the season with us at number 2 on his list, and will be coming for a visit in Week 5 against Western Michigan.

***Ottawa, Ontario, CAN

**Carleton Athletic Centre

*2 days before the Ball State game...

“”Queen - We Will Rock You plays in background””

RAVENS FANS....ARRRRRE YOOOUUUU READYYYYYYYY! Here they are...your 2013 Carletonnnnnn Raaaa-vennnns...

“”Music Intensifies...the team streams into the gym led by mascot Rodney the Raven...high-fiving fans and jumping around with intensity...music slowly fades out””

Coach Weber: How y’all doin tonight, eh?!! We ready to go whip Ball State on Saturday!!??
***CHEERS***
Alright that’s what I wanna hear! We’re gonna go down to Indiana and show them what Canadian football is all about. Everyone has been telling us all week “Oh those American teams are gonna own you guys for a few years...no shame if you lose”...Well guess what...I’m not planning on losing. These guys behind me aren’t planning on losing. So let me ask you Ravens fans...are you planning on losing!!??
***NO!!!!***LOUD CHEERING***
That’s what I thought. Alright I’m gonna turn this thing over to the big man himself...member of last years Championship winning basketball team and receiver of a touchdown last week...Freddie Williamson.

Freddie: Thanks Coach...and thanks for showing the world what a big man with my hands can do on the football field. Like you said coach...it’s just grabbing boards that someone tosses to you! I can’t wait to get on the field Saturday and catch a few more!

***Freddie grabs a football, runs across the court, and dunks it by jumping over Rodney the Raven...CROWD GOES BESERK***

Coach Weber yelling over the crowd: Alright!!! Let’s call that the high note for sure!! Time to hit the road and go get that W on Saturday!!!

TSN 1200 Ottawa

Mendes: Welcome back to “The Drive” on TSN1200 I’m Ian Mendes, and Joining us today on the Gabriel Pizza Hotline is new coach of the Carleton Ravens Football team, Chris Weber...coach, welcome!

Weber: Thanks Ian, great to be on the show! I actually listen to you guys in my office whenever I can.

Mendes: Well thanks for being a listener,...So tell us a bit about this Bird Shot offense that just put up 519 passing yards against Ball State. What’s it all about?

Weber: Well Ian I took a lot of stuff I learned up here being an assistant in the CFL, and adapted it to NCAA rules for this venture into the new CanAm Conference. The idea is basically confuse the secondary and let our playmakers make plays. The whole offense is based on 4 and 5 wide sets and, as you’ve seen, the running back is vital to our passing success. “Joystick” has been great at adapting to making his plays in space and has shown some great hands. 5 TDs in that Ball State game Ian...

Mendes: Yea that was quite the performance from Atari Inman setting school records for receiving TDs and Total TDs in a game. How about Freddie Williamson, how has he been adapting to football?

Weber: Freddie has been amazing, his height and hands are money down in the red zone, and he’s got the size to really throw around on those screen blocks. We’re really expecting good things from him the rest of the year.

Mendes: Alright coach, well thanks for joining us on the show, and good luck this weekend in Buffalo.

Weber: Thanks Ian and you guys can have me on anytime. We’re looking to unveil a few new things now that the offense is comfortable so watch out!
