Tampa Bay's new era under Tom Brady starts a disappointing 0-2

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are struggling with Tom Brady at quarter, who threw for just 166 yards and completed 14 of his 28 passes. Teddy Bridgewater threw for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns in the victory as Tampa lost Lavonte David to an injury. Nothing is going right for the Bucs right now. Sure, there's another 14 weeks left in the season but can Tampa Bay realistically make the postseason with the way they're currently playing?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drew Lock has the Broncos sitting at 2-0
In a shootout, Drew Lock bested Ben Roethlisberger, who threw for 309 yards and 3 touchdowns. Lock threw for 325 yards and 3 touchdowns, with Courtland Sutton leading the Broncos with 7 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown. Rookie Jerry Jeudy caught 6 passes for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Steelers couldn't stop a nosebleed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Atlanta come crashing back down to earth
Last weekend Todd Gurley went off. This week, he rushed for just 39 yards and watched Ezekiel Elliot run for 147 yards and a touchdown off 13 carries as the Dallas Cowboys claimed a comfortable victory.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cam Newton shows his potential in New England
Is the old Cam back? Newton threw for 211 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Patriots defeated a favoured Seahawks in this week 2 matchup. Newton played well and the Patriots are hoping he can lead them to a divisional championship in a weak AFC East division. Mohamed Sanu caught 8 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown in the victory. Veteran John Simon claimed two sacks.

Keenan Allen to miss a month of action with broken ribs
nfl.com/chargers/morningcoffee | September 22nd, 2020

The Los Angeles Chargers received some bad news this morning. They've just lost their best offensive player for five weeks after the x-ray results returned a positive for broken ribs. Allen, 28, who caught 104 passes last season and has over 525 receptions over seven seasons, is currently in a contract season and likely won't return until week seven or eight at the earliest. It's a blow to the Chargers offense, which was hoping Allen would help rookie quarterback Justin Herbert assimilate himself into an NFL offense. He'll have to do that without Allen for over a quarter of their games going forward. Mike Williams and DaeSean Hamilton will likely start on the outside with rookie Joe Reed playing inside in the slot. According to reports, they have no intention to dip into the free agent market and find themselves a slot receiver.

Allen has been voted to the Pro Bowl for the last three consecutive seasons, was the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2017 and was named Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year in 2013.

Yes. All my running backs (Ekeler, Samuels and Freeman) can catch the ball. Especially the latter 2.

Losing Keenan Allen is tough, but at least you're not Tampa Bay and lost your defense.

Chargers two defensive touchdowns leads them to blowout win over Carolina

Image

LOS ANGELES, September 27 -- The Los Angeles Chargers secured their first win at SoFi stadium in franchise history after a dominating defensive performance, which saw two touchdowns and a scheme which crippled Teddy Bridgewater and the Carolina Panthers. For the first time in his NFL career, Justin Herbert didn’t turn the ball over and managed the game well enough to see the Chargers through the Panthers, 38-8. Stats can be misleading – like Teddy Bridgewater’s 90.6 quarterback rating or his 82% completion percentage. He played awful. The Panthers, who allowed 9 sacks through the first two games, were harassed by the Chargers’ defensive line all game long and the secondary was on point, with Desmond King returning an interception for a touchdown and safety Derwin James dislodging the ball which allowed Michael Davis to return the fumble for a touchdown late in the third quarter.

The Chargers have a good defense, there’s no doubt about that. They showed up today after a disappointing opener against the Bengals and then a follow up against the best team in the NFL. Well, the Panthers brought one of the best running backs to SoFi and he was phased out of the game. “He’s a dangerous player, so we game planned around him,” stated head coach Anthony Lynn. It was a dominating performance by the Chargers on both sides of the ball. Devonta Freeman executed in the redzone, DaeSean Hamilton stepped up in Keenan Allen’s absence and rookie Kenneth Murray was a sideline-to-sideline player, recording his second forced fumble of the season.

However, there was some bad news amid the blowout. Trai Turner, the starting right guard, will likely miss the next month of the season after suffering an abdominal injury. The offensive line has been functioning well this season so far, with Los Angeles accruing 150 rushing yards against the Panthers. The Panthers miss Luke Kuechly, as there were holes in the middle for the Chargers to run through, which allowed them to convert 10 of their 12 third down opportunities. How will their offensive line react going forward? Next week the Chargers face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who won’t have Lavonte David.

Ravens fly high against Chiefs on Monday night thriller

Lamar Jackson's standout game, which saw the third-year quarterback throw for 307 yards and 3 touchdowns while Patrick Mahomes lagged behind with 221 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens were ferocious on a night in which they defended homefield from the defending Super Bowl champions. Wide receiver Willie Snead starred with 7 receptions for 96 yards while Baltimore's defense did its job by holding Tyreek Hill to just 2 receptions for 19 yards. Travis Kelce was held to just 4 receptions for 69 yards. Did the Ravens make a statement with their victory over the Kansas City Chiefs? Will they finish #1 in the AFC Conference for the second season in a row?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joe Burrow picks up his first career win as Bengals down Eagles
The Cincinnati Bengals won a shootout over the Philadelphia Eagles, with Carson Wentz and Joe Burrow throwing for 3 touchdowns each. The rookie completed 24 of his 29 passes for 309 yards and 3 touchdowns while Joe Mixon rushed for 73 yards on the ground and added 4 receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown through receiving.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Saints aren't looking so good right now
Drew Brees threw for 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions as the Green Bay Packers claimed a big win over the Saints, who have fallen to 1-2. A lot isn't going right for the Saints this season after their disappointing exit from the postseason last winter. Is this the end for New Orleans?

In came the new uniforms, in came the hall of fame quarterback and tight end. Stacked with talent, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have failed to impress within the first month of the season. Still, with three-quarters of a season left, the Buccaneers still have a lot left to improve on. Growing pains are always usual for a team which has changed system. This week won’t get any easier for Tampa, who will face the 4th ranked defense in the league which had two defensive touchdowns last weekend. The advantage for Tampa Bay? It’s a west coast team they’re facing. The Chargers rarely fare well on the road, and they’re going from the west coast of the USA to the east coast. The Chargers will want to make Tom Brady uncomfortable. He hasn’t thrown the ball well this season. Look for Los Angeles to double team Mike Evans and take him out of Tampa’s gameplan. For Tampa, they need to force the rookie Justin Herbert into mistakes. He isn’t the centerpiece of the offense just yet. Devonta Freeman, Jaylen Samuels and Austin Ekeler are roughly combining for 30 carries a game. If the Buccaneers can stop the run, they’ll have an easier time of improving to 2-2 instead of falling to 1-3. However, that’s easier said than done. Lavonte David and Ndamukong Suh, key players against the run, won’t be playing. For Los Angeles, they'll be without Keenan Allen. DaeSean Hamilton filled in well for him last weekend, can he follow up with the consistency needed to plugging the hole? Talking of holes, the Chargers will also be without starting right guard Trai Turner, who is out for the next month with an abdominal injury. The Chargers will start rookie Koda Martin at right guard. Will this be the difference maker?
