Mike Thomas got his and Drew Brees showed out. That's a big win for a young quarterback like Herbert.

Cardinals win thriller over the NY Jets

Kyler Murray three touchdowns, Sam Darnold four touchdowns. In a showdown of the top two quarterbacks taken a year ago, the Cardinals came away with a thrilling 35-32 victory. DeAndre Hopkins was held to just 1 reception for 14 yards - but that didn't matter in the grand scheme of things as Christian Kirk was the star receiver, coming away with two touchdowns off 5 receptions for 135 yards. Jamison Crowder was the fantasy winner for the Jets, earning 8 receptions for 152 yards and two touchdowns in a losing effort.

Drew Lock showed his potential as he completed 24 of 32 passes for 289 yards and 4 touchdowns after he connected with Courtland Sutton 6 times for 96 yards and a touchdown in a losing effort. Tight end Noah Fant came through strongly, hurling in 7 receptions for 65 yards and 2 touchdowns. Cam Newton threw for 3 touchdowns and rookie tight end Devin Asiasi caught 9 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown.

Giants still remain unbeaten, down Cowgirls but lose Jones in process
The Giants season has hit a tumultuous point. Stating quarterback Daniel Jones left the field with an injury, but still the Giants managed to hold off the Cowboys in a 26-21 performance. Colt McCoy will likely lead the Giants from next week after coming in relief and going 8 of 11 for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Injuries
WR Quincy Enunwa (season)
WR Josh Bellamy (season)
SS Reshad Jones (season)

The New York Jets have been a pleasant surprise this season, enjoying one of their better years since The Sanchise era with Rex Ryan as head coach. Sam Darnold has made tremendous progress in his third season and has one of the best touchdown to interception ratios in the league, which has helped them average 30.2 points per game through the first five games of the season - despite two wide receivers sidelined with season ending injuries. Jamison Crowder, who has caught 11 touchdowns in five games, will face off against Casey Hayward and Chris Harris, who have been one of the best cornerback duos in the league this season. We saw Justin Herbert play one of his best games on Monday night against the Saints, can the rookie follow that up with a win which improve the Chargers' record to 4-2? If you ask me, the 2020 Chargers are looking very much like the 2009 Jets. A strong defense, offense built on pounding the rock with the quarterback making plays when he needs to. Both of these teams haven't had much success in the past couple of seasons; the winner of this game will improve to 4-2, while the other falls to 3-3. One game can make the difference and this intra-conference contest (potential playoff matchup) seems to have all the ingredients of a memorable mid-season bout.

Los Angeles dominate New York at home as Herbert throws 3 TDs in 31-17 victory

Image

LOS ANGELES, October 18 -- The Los Angeles Chargers dominated the New York Jets at home, as a series of big plays by the Chargers and blunders by the Jets throughout the first two quarters set the tone for a convincing, 31-17 Los Angeles victory. Despite New York having one of the best offenses in the NFL, the Chargers defense, which is ranked among the best, sacked Sam Darnold on the second play of the game – causing the quarterback to fumble and force a three-and-out after the Jets threw the ball away on a 3rd and 27. On came the Chargers, who marched down the field and scored thanks to DaeSean Hamilton being open over the middle in the endzone. The Chargers returned for their second possession, which saw Mike Williams come down the sideline with a 37 yard reception. LA capped off that drive with a touchdown pass to Hunter Henry. New York would find a touchdown before the break, but a huge hit from Derwin James on Jamison Crowder around LA’s 20 yard line saw the Chargers march back up the field and deliver a 24-7 half-time score.

The first half wasn’t pretty for New York. 82 passing yards to LA’s 130. 0 rushing yards to LA’s 88. Offense did improve in the second half for New York when Nassir Adderley went down with a shoulder injury. But not by much. Sam Darnold may have a pretty stat line after Jarron Brown’s last minute touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the game was over with a 31-10 scoreline before the play. New York couldn’t keep on the field, going 5 of 11 on third downs. They couldn’t keep the Chargers off the field, who converted 10 of 13 on third downs – despite accruing just 63 passing yards in the second half. Le’Veon Bell was locked up and held to just 23 rushing yards and while Sam Darnold did throw for 256 yards, which is pedestrian numbers in this contemporary league, he was sacked four times by Melvin Ingram. Seeing ghosts again Sam?
