Living a Fantasy - Cade Porter

Decided I'm not getting Madden 21, at least not for a while. Wanted to start something new on 20. Just a couple reserves then we're off.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS DRAFT CENTRAL DRAFT PROSPECTS

Indianapolis Colts select Syracuse QB Cade Porter with the 59th pick in 2019 NFL Draft

We're not sure what exactly to make of this pick. Andrew Luck has certainly had some injury troubles, missing nine games in 2015 and all of the 2017 season. However, he's coming off a season where he played in all 16 games and the Colts traded for Jacoby Brissett, who looked to be a solid backup when he started 15 games in 2017.

Let's move on to Porter. After splitting time as the starter for the Orange in 2017 he took over as the full-time starter last season and led the team to a 10-3 record and a 34-18 win over West Virginia in the Camping World Bowl. Syracuse hadn't won 10 games since 2001.

Our very own Reed Stephens handled our scouting efforts for the position in the Anthony Arena Memorial 2019 NFL Draft guide. His report can be found below.

While many hoped the Colts would continue to draft defense with this pick this certainly gives them one of the most talented QB rooms in the NFL with Luck, Brissett and Porter, plus great insurance in case of another significant injury to Luck.

Porter started 15 games at Syracuse, three in 2017 and 12 in 2018. In 2017 he led the team to a big win over Clemson then close losses at Miami and Florida State.

In 2018 Porter threw for 3,275 yards with 26 touchdowns and three interceptions. He completed 66.5% of his passes. He also ran for four touchdowns.

In 2018 he started 12 of Syracuse's 13 games, leading them to a 10-2 record. He missed the blowout loss to Notre Dame due to a death in the family.

Porter couldn't be reached for immediate comment but did tweet that he was very excited to join the organization, thanked several people and said he couldn't wait to learn from Reich and Luck.

This isn’t some bad joke. This is happening. Yes, it’s okay to panic.

As first reported by Adam Schefter, Andrew Luck has retired from the NFL.

Schefter isn’t wrong very often, let’s hope he is somehow, very, very wrong about Andrew Luck.

UPDATE:

Andrew Luck has officially retired. This was his press conference:

I, as many of us are, am in total disbelief.
