Union star QB Tanner Davidson will be staying in state after committing to Oklahoma yesterday afternoon.
Davidson is ranked as the #3 recruit in the nation and the top player in the state.
After taking over for injured Union starter Tommy Matthews as a sophomore Davidson led Union to back-to-back playoff appearances as a sophomore and a junior, falling to eventual state champs Jenks last season.
As a junior Davidson threw for 3,463 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions, completing 64% of his passes. He also ran for 732 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Davidson's Rivals profile:
Davidson's profile has him listed at 6'5" and 215 pounds but he hasn't been measured since the end of his sophomore year, Coach Cooks thinks he could be over 225 now.
A three sport star Davidson currently leads the Union basketball team in points per game and is expected to be the baseball team's top pitcher.
Davidson will likely redshirt in 2017 if Baker Mayfield stays then compete with Kyler Murray, who transferred from Texas A&M last month, in 2018.
Davidson's kept his announcement brief on social media, stating that he was ecstatic to have found his place at home in Oklahoma and that he had unfinished business at Union. He closed with the hashtag #revengeseason.
Union is expected to compete for a state championship this upcoming season.
