"The end of last season sucked." Union senior quarterback Tanner Davidson told me after the team's practice last Wednesday. "We're calling this season the revenge tour. We're not settling for anything less than a championship."
Union's 2015 season ended with a 33-17 semi final loss at Jenks, who went on to win their fourth straight 6A State Championship.
The so called "Revenge Tour" kicked off earlier tonight against Derby, the 2015 Kansas State champions, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, home of the NFL's Chiefs.
It was a star-studded affair with several NFL players, coaches and GMs on hand as well as other athletes and many from the entertainment industry on hand. Needless to say there were dozens of college scouts and coaches in attendance as well.
Davidson, who committed to Oklahoma in March, engaged in battles on social media with several members of the Derby team and other players from Kansas, escalating the game to a border war of sorts between the two states.
Davidson wasted no time asserting himself, connecting with tight end Maddox on a 73 yard touchdown on the fourth play of the game.
DAVIDSON WINDS UP TO UNLEASH A 73 YARD TD BOMB TO MADDOX, MADDOX HAULS IT IN FOR SIX
After the Union defense stopped Derby on fourth down Davidson connected with QB turned WR Tommy Matthews for a 48 yard gain down to the Derby 23. A couple plays later Matthews caught a tipped pass in the endzone to extend Union's early lead.
MATTHEWS STICKS WITH A TIPPED BALL AND HAULS IT IN FOR A TOUCHDOWN
Derby cut into the lead on their next possession when runningback A.J. Grove capped a long drive with a two yard touchdown run.
DERBY GETS ON THE BOARD WITH A SHORT TD RUN BY GROVE
After a short kick return Davidson accounted for all 83 yards on the ensuing Union drive, topping it off with a five yard TD run and putting Union up 21-7 just before halftime.

DAVIDSON SCORES JUST BEFORE HALFTIME
Ricky Southerland hit a 56 yard field goal for Derby in the third quarter, the only score of the quarter.
Davidson connected with Matthews for a seven yard score on a slant early in the fourth quarter, Union led 28-10 after the score.
MATTHEWS SECURES A FOURTH QUARTER TD PASS FROM DAVIDSON
That's when things went south for Derby as both of their next possessions ended with interceptions. Union capitalized on the turnovers, adding ten points via a Davidson to Zombo TD pass and a Myers 26 yard field goal, making the score 38-10 with just a few minutes left.
Davidson did not return to the game and drew some criticism as the following image was sent out on his social media accounts before the end of the game.
Davidson claimed the image was uploaded by a friend, no punishment has been announced at this time.
Union would add another score on a ten yard TD run by Sammy Hawk. Derby added a pointless late field goal, making the final score 45-13.
Davidson threw for over 350 yards with four touchdowns and ran in one more in the win. Hawk ran for 146 yards and a score. Matthews was Davidson's favorite target as he was most of last season after moving to wide receiver. He caught 7 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
After the final gun sounded Davidson and the rest of the team stormed the field and planted an Oklahoma state flag at midfield, causing a brawl to break out briefly.
Union will continue the "Revenge Tour" by hosting Broken Arrow next Friday night.
