Since missing nine games as a rookie in 2017 Deshaun Watson has been relatively healthy, starting 16 games in 2018 and 15 in 2019 as well as all three of the team's playoff games in that time.
A.J. McCarron was the primary backup last season and was expected to play the part again in 2020, however, it was announced earlier today that the Texans and Colin Kaepernick have agreed to a two year deal.
Cal McNair made the announcement. "This is a great move from a football standpoint and in other ways too." He explained. "We feel like we've got a team that can compete and go deep into the playoffs, Colin coming aboard gives us security at the quarterback position and means we can still compete at a high level in the unfortunate instance that we have an injury at the position.
Kaepernick last played for the 49ers in 2016 and has become a well known activist over the past several years. He has thrown for over 12,000 yards and 82 touchdowns during his career.
