If I didn't want the ability to lose games, I would still be playing my Boise State Dynasty.. I like having games actually be a challenge the fact I even came back and forced OT was a thriller.. The ending a heartbreaker..

AGGIES CLAIM THE THRONE IN A DEFENSIVE BATTLE!!

GAME RECAP

Turnovers plagued the Aggies throughout the 1st half as Aliki Smith JJr throws 3 INT's that led to 2 touchdowns by the Lobo's as they tied the game (14-14) at the half.

Smith's 4th INT of the game turned into a 59 yd "Pick 6" return by SO CB Jaylen Thomas (75 ovr) as the Lobo's took the lead (21-14) early in the 3rd Quarter.

With Smith struggling, the Aggies would turn to backup QB Peter Awad and the run game to finish this one out. NMSU would tie the game (21-21) midway through the 3rd Quarter as Bryan Jackson scores his 3rd rushing touchdown of the game.. It was the 3rd time this season that Jackson scores the hat trick..

Another big stop by the Defense would lead to a 9 play drive that ended with a 8 yd touchdown run by Jayde Limar as NMSU takes the (28-21) lead going into the 4th.

Well Awad managed to stop the bleeding in the INT department the RS Junior still struggled to move the ball throwing for just 61 yds on 9/16 as NMSU turns the ball over twice on 4th downs inside the redzone but the Lobo's could capitalize and with 1:28 to play in the game would turn the ball over on downs as well. Still holding onto the 7 point lead the Aggies would just run out the clock happy to end the 2 game losing streak and claiming the "The Roadster for a 3rd straight season (2nd in this dynasty) under Coach Sanchez,FINAL SCORE NEW MEXICO STATE-28 NEW MEXICO-21

WEEK 6 TEAM REPORT

SMITH STRUGGLE'S

RS Freshman Akili Smith has shown his ability to be a gunslinger completing 60% of his 274 pass attempts for 2070 yds so far this season in the Aggies first 6 games, but his 13 INT to 10 TD (0:8 ratio, 4.7 INT rate ) leaves plenty of room of improvement over the next 6 games if the Aggies are going to challenge for a MWC Championship and earn a 2nd straight trip to a Bowl game.

BRYAN "TOUCHDOWN JACKSON"

USC transfer Bryan Jackson has shown the ability to find the endzone in the first 6 games.. Jackson who leads the Aggies in carries (102) Yards (450, 4.4 avg) and has produced 3 games now with 3 TD's in them to lead the team with 11 on the seaosn.

Listed at 6'0 240lbs, Jackson has also produced a impressive 205 yds after contact so far this season..

LP MAKING A STRONG CASE FOR POST-SEASON AWARD!!

The early list for Freshman of the Year (Shaun Alexander trophy) isn't out yet but for those who have been watching it appears FR WR Lamon "LP" Poutasi is well on his way putting himself in the Top-5. The former 4* leads the team with (45) receptions and 641 yds well tied with Donovan Faupel for the lead in touchdowns (3).

FUTURE OF THE MOUNTAIN WEST

Well loss's to both UNLV and San Jose State might not lead to a spot in the Mountain West Championship this season for the Aggies the future looks pretty bright for NMSU..

The Aggies through the first 6 games leads the conference in scoring (36.8, SJSU is at 36.6 and Wyoming is 36.2) they also lead the conference in Total Yards (2983) and Passing Yards (2131) and is 2nd in Rushing Yards (852, Air Force is #1 with 1379).

would be great to nab another 4* to buoy the defense.

Smith has got to get the INTs under control if ya'll are going to keep competing. Hard on the defense to always be on the field. You'd have hoped Awad gave you something to go off of, but no dice

Moving NMSU to the Mountain West allows me to play New Mexico and UTEP every year, so it will be nice to keep some history against the rivals. The Defense came through big time for me.. They punted 13 times.. I am pretty sure that's a new record for me..

Ngata would be a huge addition for our Defense.. My hope was to land a 4* Offensive guy and a 4* year Defensive guy to build the team around and then I was going to stop trying to land 4*.. Right now my only rule is if I do land a 4* it has to be a instate kid or a guy from the Portal that has NMSU in his Top-5. What makes recruiting at a place like New Mexico State is the 2* guy's I want keep getting like 10-12 offers so it's actually easier to land 3* guy's that nobody offers then to try and land 2* guy's inside my pipelines.

Yeah Awad isn't a guy who is going to light up the stats but he could be a decent game manage and he is actually a decent runner, so I could switch up the Offense and try running a little more with him in the mix as well... Not sure what's going on with Smith.. other then his Awareness is just a 71.. He has a cannon for a arm but that's not always a good thing.

I am hoping I can play well against Air Force when Ngata in town visiting but the Falcons are 5-0 right now and are leading the MWC. The other issue is he has visits lined up with Fresno State in Week 11, Utah in Week 12 and BYU in Week 13 and 2 of his green check marks are Championship contender which I have a D+ and Program Tradition which I have a D-. He does like the idea of playing close to home but my only other 2 decent grades are Playing Style and Playing Time and he isn't interested in either one.

AGGIES FALL SHORT IN UPSET BID!!

GAME RECAP

Tied (7-7) at the end of the 1st Quarter, Colorado took a (21-10) lead into the locker room with 2 late 2nd Quarter scores as RS FR Julian Lewis (84) throws a pair of touchdowns in the final 3 minutes of the half.

NMSU would cut the lead to (21-17) as Bryan Jackson breaks free for his longest run of the game (47 yds) for what would be the first of (2) 2nd half touchdowns, but Lewis answers right back as he throws TD #3 finding Dre'lon Miller (86 ovr) on a 19 yd strike to make it (28-17).

Still (28-17) going into the 4th, Jackson would break free for another big run (30 yds) as he goes over 100 yds on the day following it up with a 12 yd touchdown run to cut the lead to (28-23). The Aggies would leave the offense on the field for the 2pt play and convert cutting the lead to just a FG with 7 minutes still to play in the game.

Colorado however again answers the score as Lewis caps off a 80 yard 11 play drive with a 4 yd QB keeper to extend the lead back to (35-25) and then after a Akili Smith Fumble but Buffalo's turn to a JR RB Micah Welch (85 ovr) for his 2nd rushing touchdown of the game as Colorado extends their lead to 17 points.

Well Smith managed to escape the game without throwing a INT, turnovers still plagued the Aggies.
