#17 MIA (6-3, 4-3) | 0 | 10 | 0 | 0 || 10
#7 USF (8-1, 6-1) | 7 | 14 | 7 | 7 || 35
-----------------------------------------------
Hurricanes are No Match for USF Bulls as They Improve to 8-1
Even with three first half turnovers, Miami struggled to get points on the board. The reason why? The eleven that were on the opposite side of the Hurricanes offense were playing like their hair was on fire.
The Bulls defense held Miami to just 189 yards of total offense, including -2 yards in the first quarter, as defense led them to a 35-10 win over Miami on Saturday to extend their home winning streak to 49, three-shy of the NCAA record set by the Hurricanes five decades ago.
Derek Garrison completed just fifty percent of his passes and threw two redzone interceptions that were costly while Antwuan Burnette, who averaged nearly seven yards per carry coming into the game, was held to 20 yards on nine carries.
While Miami abandoned the running game, USF pounded the 'Canes with theirs. The team rushed for 271 yards and four rushing touchdowns, including three from potential two-time Heisman Jed White.
White finished the game with 101 yards and three touchdowns, overcoming a first quarter interception to complete 79 percent of his passes for 227 yards and a late touchdown pass.

Bulls land five-stars in back to back weeks with Harrell's commitment to USF
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider
American Heritage five-star running back George 'Pookie' Harrell has committed to the South Florida Bulls over the Central Florida Golden Knights. Harrell, a former UCF commit, also held offers from Florida State and Miami among others before releasing a top two that consisted of the War on I-4 rivals a month ago.
Harrell is the younger brother of former USF quarterback Michael Harrell.
Harrell backed off his commitment to Central Florida when he switched high schools, transferring from St. Thomas Aquinas -- Michael's alma mater --- during his freshman season before playing one season at Belen High School in Miami, Florida and then deciding to play out his final two years at American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida.
A dynamic athlete, Harrell is capable of playing both receiver or running back at the next level although the Bulls coaching staff has primarily been recruiting him at running back. The plan is to pair him with Nigel Medley, another five-star prospect that is a bit bigger and longer at six-foot-one and 215 pounds. Harrell is listed at 215 pounds on Heritage's roster and most recruiting services although many within industry believe his actual playing weight might be under 200 pounds. He's an elusive and shifty runner with the ball in his hand with added value as a return specialist.
One of the fastest players in the country, Harrell has drawn comparisons to former Heisman winning running back Troy Henry. Harrell has a slightly larger frame and posted similar, and in some instances better, testing numbers than Henry did the summer heading into his high school senior season.
While those are lofty comparisons, Harrell's play on the field has warranted them, it's the off the field concerns that have kept many of the top schools away from him. Harrell's departure from St. Thomas is marred with controversy with some sources claiming he was expelled from the private Catholic due to "moral and ethical" issues. Harrell spent just four months at Belen, the length of the football season, before leaving following what was described as a "clash with the coaching staff".
USF's relationship with the Harrell family likely played a role in their decision to keep Harrell on their board after many schools dropped him.
The Bulls were also able to finalize their recruiting efforts at quarterback with James Brown and George Mobley both committing this past weekend as well. Brown is a traditional drop back quarterback, similar to already committed quarterback Todd Woods. Both Brown and Woods are development project while Mobley, a JUCO transfer that will be a junior next season, is a solid depth addition that could potentially challenge for a starting spot by his final season.
Brown, along with Harrell, were amongst the group of five players on campus this past weekend as well as four-star tight end Josh Smith and four-star defensive end Cornelius Ross.
Both Smith and Ross has positive things to say about their visit but neither committed and both will take visits elsewhere. Ross will be at Michigan State and at Ohio State before the end of the season while Smith's last visit of the recruiting cycle will be at Virginia Tech.
This weekend, the Bulls will look to add some more commitments with five-star receiver Pat Newsome, four-star safeties Fred Jones and Brandon Benjamin, four-star offensive guard Lamar Felder, four-star defensive tackle Chris Mark, four-star offensive tackle Ben Brown, and four-star linebacker Gary Adkins all being on campus. While Florida State's back-to-bac loses has caused the previously anticipated matchup to fizzle out some, it should still be an exciting game with Florida State opening as a surprisingly just a 2.5 point underdog.

Yeah, the hiring/firing logic in the game is a bit broken and something I hope they fix in the new NCAA as well as giving user head coaches the ability to hire their coordinators.

USF Takes Care of Florida State 56-35
For every big play that Florida State was able to generate to get into the endzone, USF would respond with a methodical drive to even the score.
It was only right that they're biggest play of the day against Florida State would come from a Dion, helping put the game out of reach with Rogers' 85-yard run that put the nail in the coffin of the Seminoles 56-35 defeat at the hands of the Bulls.
Rogers finished the game with 189 yards rushing and three touchdowns, not to be outdone by Jed White's 152-yard performance on the ground with also three touchdowns. Jason Finley wasn't too bad himself, adding two scores of his own and 78 yards to the team's 419 rushing yards.
It was Florida State's running game that took control of the game early with two long touchdowns in the first quarter by Craig Holden.
The first potential turning point of the game came when Florida State had the ball at the goal line with the game tied but failed to score on back-to-back plays, settling for a field goal. USF responded with their third 10+ play drive of the first half and a touchdown to take the 21-17 lead with 28 seconds left in the first half and slated to get the ball back to open the second half.
Florida State returned the ensuing kick 76 yards before Nick Wilson threw a 21-yard strike to Bryan Walton in the corner of the endzone to retake the lead.
The Seminoles wouldn't reach the endzone again until the fourth quarter, allowing USF to go on a 21-3 run in the third quarter to help put the game out of reach.

Seven recruits commit to Bulls during big visit weekend, including five-star receiver Pat Newsome
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider
Five-star wide receiver Pat Newsome has committed to the University of South Florida, making the announcement public on Monday morning, joining six other players that also committed to the Bulls over the course of the weekend.
Four-star safeties Fred Jones and Brandon Benjamin, four-star offensive guard Lamar Felder, four-star defensive tackle Chris Mark, four-star defensive end Cornelius Ross and four-star linebacker Gary Adkins all committed over the weekend as well with Jones being the first to commit on Friday evening during his intake.
All blue chip recruit, Newsome is the bluest of them all as the top ranked recruit in the state of Florida and the number two ranked player this cycle according to 247 Composite Ranking. A big bodied receiver at six-foot-five and 218 pounds, Newsome has similar testing numbers as Andrew Rivas (6'6", 218lbs, 4.44 40-yd dash, 370 Bench Press, 275 Squat) did coming out of high school. Rivas has had a slow start to his career and other bigger receivers have struggled at USF, will Newsome and classmate Brent Slaughter help change that trend?
While Newsome will try to buck a trend, Jones will try to follow one. Jones' has a similar profile to former Bulls safety Sam Peterson (6'1", 179lbs, 4.44 40-yd dash dash, 370 Bench Press Max, 325 Squat Max) who was also an IMG grad. Jones isn't as polished in his coverage as Peterson was coming out of high school and has a similar playing style as another IMG graduate in Paul Williams. He'll be able to assist against the run from day one, which will allow him to get on the field perhaps earlier than some would expect.
The next higher ranked recruit to commit this weekend was also on the defensive side with defensive end Cornelius Ross. The perfect fit for Justin Wilcox's 3-4 defense as a five-technique defensive end, Ross is a bit raw as a pass rusher but his film shows the raw strength required to set the edge and be a two-gap defender despite being a little bit light at 241 pounds.
Another potential five-technique is IDL Chris Mark. While some schools recruited him as a defensive tackle, the Bulls like him at defensive end as he might not have the strength nor size to play nose tackle. A natural pass rusher, Mark might not have all the tools to be an every down player but could be a specialist.
Going up against Ross and Mark will be the top ranked guard in the nation in Lamar Felder. Felder was a big win for the Bulls as he's their highest ranked offensive lineman commitment since Brian Smith in 2020. Felder is athletic and has a frame capable of adding more weight and potentially even moving to offensive tackle although USF does like having more athletic guards as part of their power and sweep focused running game.
Another mid-west/northeast commit came from Michigan's Brandon Benjamin. Benjamin is very similar to safety Paul Williams and Fred Jones as he has room for improvement in his coverage abilities. It is a valid criticism or concern that the Bulls are building a bit of redundancy at the position although a move to linebacker for Williams was flirted with last spring.
Speaking of linebacker, USF added a pretty big one in Adkins who is the fifteenth ranked linebacker in the nation and the second ranked inside linebacker in the state of Florida. Marcus Rhoden is a good recent comparison for Adkins as they are bigger linebackers that are decent athletes but don't have elite sideline to sideline abilities.
The weekend catapulted USF to the top class in the country with eighteen commits and a whopping five five-stars committed and ten four stars. The Bulls have been able to dominate recruiting by both expanding their recruiting pipeline and dipping into other states but keeping the focus in-state as well. USF has landed four of the state's top six players this cycle and have seven of the the state of Florida's 39 four-star recruits.
USF is still targeting four-star Georgia offensive tackle Ben Brown and Connecticut tight end Josh Smith.
