Burrow leads Bengals to fourth quarterback comeback win over Patriots to advance to AFC Championship Game
The comparisons between Mac Jones and Joe Burrow are plentiful as they both skyrocketed up draft boards during their final college season and have similar playing styles as throwback, prototypical pocket passers in a new era of dual threat, dynamic quarterbacks.

The same way Jones carved up the Bengals defense in the first half, Burrow returned the favor in the second, leading the Bengals to a 17-point fourth quarter to complete the 24-14 comeback victory over New England on Saturday to advance to the AFC Championship Game.

New England had plenty of opportunity to extend their 14-7 lead in the third quarter but dropped passes and penalties kept the score unchanged entering the fourth quarter and after a 37-yard completion to Tee Higgins on 2nd 7, Cincinnati tied up the game early in the fourth quarter with a touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd.

The Patriots then went three-and-out, giving Burrow back the football for completions of 26-yards and 13-yards to Ja'Marr Chase and Boyd respectively and on 3rd and 8 from the New England 31-yard line with 9:11 remaining, Burrow was pressured into an accidental completion to Chase who came back for the underthrown football and then scampered into the endzone to take the lead.

New England got as far as their own 43-yard line before Jonnu Smith's dropped pass forced them to punt. They were even lucky to draw a roughing the punter penalty that kept the drive alive but Jones would throw back to back incompletions to force New England to put from Cincinnati's 41-yard line.

The Bengals were then able to play keep away behind completions of eight, fourteen, twelve and seven yards from Burrow and then a seventeen yard touchdown run by Joe Mixon on third and seven to seal the win.

Patriots' Belichick to step down as head coach after 23-year run
The New England Patriots announced on Wednesday that head coach Bill Belichick is transitioning from his head-coaching position to becoming the franchise's new head of football operations.

Belichick had served as the team's head coach since 2000, leading the Patriots to 17 AFC East division titles, 13 appearances in the AFC Championship Game, and nine Super Bowl appearances, with a record six wins. In total Belichick has won eight Super Bowl titles and finished as runner-up four times from his combined time as an assistant and head coach.

At 71-years old, Belichick is walking away from coaching with two of his sons, Steve and Brian, on the staff as linebackers and safeties coach respectively. It remains to be seen what the succession plan is with internal options such as longtime offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, de-facto defensive coordinator and former player Jerod Mayo and offensive line coach Matt Patricia on the staff with McDaniels and Patricia having previous head coaching experience albeit unsuccessful ones.

Patriots hire Mike Tomlin -- not Josh McDaniels -- to replace Bill Belichick as next head coach
The New England Patriots have hired former Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin to be the franchise's next head coach, replacing the legendary Bill Belichick.

Since Belichick's retirement, New England interviewed internal candidates offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and de facto defensive coordinator Jerod Mayo along with former Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott before landing on Tomlin.

Tomlin, 52, spent just one season with Atlanta before the two sides mutually agreed to part ways following a 4-13 season and a likely long-term rebuild on the horizon. The former Super Bowl wining coach left the Steelers a year before in a similar fashion after an 8-9 season and disagreements with the front office on the direction of the franchise, particularly at the quarterback position.

Tomlin is third among active coaches in wins with 166 with 12 winning seasons, trailing only Andy Reid. He is the first black head coach in Patriots history.
