4 star athlete Maurice Mitchell commits to West Virginia

Image
Yesterday on Twitter, Maurice Mitchell has announced his decision to attend West Virginia next season. Mitchell, the 30th ranked athlete in the country, was not heavily recruited by any other school besides Baylor and Louisiana Tech. The 6'2" 212 pound athlete has been an offensive weapon for Fort Mill High School in South Carolina, leading them to two straight playoff appearance in his first two years starting. According to several films of Fort Mill games, Mitchell has been playing quarterback, wide receiver and running back. Running a 4.44 in the 40 yard dash, the Fort Mill athlete might be play a major part of the offense next year.

Mitchell might have a chance to start at quarterback in the future, but he will have to compete with the likes of Jack Allison, Trey Lowe, and fellow four star commit Damian Gordon. One Mountaineer scout has claimed that Mitchell has as "good of an arm as Gordon but the legs of starting running back Kennedy McKoy." Even if Mitchell does not get to play quarterback, he will have plenty of other opportunities to get on the field with his versatility on offense.
