Heat Starting Five: Antonio Snow, Allen Crabbe, Josh Richardson, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Hassan Whiteside

Summary: It took more than four quarters to decide the final outcome of this one. Two of the league’s top scoring teams went head to head in a battle where defense reigned supreme. Brooklyn jumped out early in this one as Antonio Snow had a slow start, scoring only 8 points in the first half. D’Angelo Russell played suffocating defense on him, even picking him up full court on occasion. Both teams were shooting both 40% at the end of the first half with Miami having a 42-39 lead going into the third quarter.

Miami was able to get some separation, taking a nine point lead, but Brooklyn jumped right back in when Antonio Snow went to the bench late in third quarter. The score was tied at 70 with 2 minutes left in regulation, neither team gaining the upper hand. Caris LeVert missed a 20 foot jumper at the end of regulation that would have given Brooklyn the win. Snow took over in overtime, scoring 12 of Miami’s 15 points to seal the deal.

Antonio Snow on slow start: It’s not how you start, but how you finish, right? Look, I don’t like it any more than anyone else, but I just keep pushing through. Keep making the right plays. Keep being a factor in other ways. Keep getting my guys involved.

Allen Crabbe on returning to Barclays Center: Bittersweet. I haven’t played here in over a year, so it was good to be back. Good to get the win.

Miami HC Erik Spoelstra on Miami’s defensive efforts: Much credit to the guys on defense. Both teams really. I think going into this one, both teams being really high scoring, defense was key tonight. Each team just giving all they had on the defensive side of the ball, eft little energy for offense, which is why the score was so low and why we needed overtime to decide.

Caris LeVert on missing potential game winner: It wasn’t an easy shot, by any means. But they had D’Angelo covered and there wasn’t enough time to get it into Jarrett. It was basically a catch and shoot situation.
