‣ NFL Week 5: Oct. 9, 2023 - Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada
(0-4) Green Bay Packers at Las Vegas Raiders (2-2)

Davante Adams, Raiders overcome slow start to outlast Packers on Monday Night
Las Vegas Raiders' receiver Davante Adams' decision to leave Green Bay, partly due to his lack of willingness to be part of a rebuild with Jordan Love, was looking like a great one as the Packers started the season 0-4.

Through a half, Adams appeared to have bet on the wrong quarterback and on the wrong team -- at least for the night -- as Love had thrown for over 200 yards in the first half while Jimmy Garoppolo started the game with just two completions in his first thirteen pass attempts.

Garoppolo and Adams would change that narrative in the fourth quarter, connecting for two touchdowns to help overcome their first half deficit to beat Green Bay 33-27 on Monday night in a clash between two of the NFL's most historic franchises.

The Packers extended their lead in the second half thanks to a red zone interception by De'Vondre Campbell which ended a potential scoring drive for the Raiders and set up Anders Carlson's 38-yard field goal to make it 20-9 midway through the third quarter.

Anders outkicked his brother, Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson, with a 56-yarder in the first half compared to Daniel's long of 36 on the night but did miss a kick while Daniel went 4 of 4.

The Adams Show would begin on the next drive with a 33-yard reception and three plays later, Ameer Abdullah scored on a thirteen yard run to make it 20-15 thanks to the missed two point conversion. Green Bay would go three and out on the next drive and after a drop on second down, Adams would pick up fifteen yards on third down and four plays later would find the end zone for the first time on a 20-yard catch and run. Vegas would take the 23-20 lead following the two point conversion to none other than Adams.

The former Green Bay receiver wouldn't be done, scoring on a 46-yard bomb from Garoppolo to make it a two score game with 11:23 remaining. Adams finished with 173 yards and two touchdowns on ten receptions, scoring his 90th and 91st touchdown of his career as well as eclipsing the 800 reception mark.

Love and the Packers offense would eventually make it competitive, finding their rhythm by attacking the soft area in the Raiders' zone defense. Love finished with a career high 411 yards while completing 70.4 percent of his passes.

Aaron Jones' touchdown with 2:08 remaining would make it a one score game but Las Vegas had no problem closing the game out with Josh Jacobs picking up 25 yards on the ground on six carries on the next drive.

Yeah, he was carving up that soft zone. played more man in the second half and had some more success but overall came away impressed by Love, surprised they're 0-5

Joe Burrow Throws Himself Into MVP Discussion Following Impressive String of Games
The Arizona Cardinals gave little to no resistance to Cincinnati's offense as the Bengals scored five touchdowns in the lopsided 38-3 victory on Sunday to hand them their fourth win of the season and keep them within reach of the undefeated Baltimore Ravens for the AFC North title.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had another strong outing, throwing for 291 yards and two touchdowns, completing 73 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 30 yards and had a rushing touchdown, his first of the season. Burrow leads the NFL in passing yards (1441), second in touchdowns (14), fourth in passer rating (115.2) and seventh in completion percentage at seventy percent.

The former Heisman winner finished fourth in MVP voting last season behind eventual winner Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen. Through a quarter of the season, Burrow had outplayed all three of them and is the early MVP favorite along with Lamar Jackson, who on the award in 2019.

Jackson already got the best of Burrow in their week two as the Ravens beat the Bengals 28-21 with Burrow throwing two interceptions while Jackson threw for three touchdowns and rushed for 57 yards and a rushing touchdown. Since then, Burrow had thrown for 805 yards, 9 touchdowns and just one interception in the last three games. He'll get another crack at Jackson and the Ravens in week 11 on Thursday Night Football.

Raiders trade pass rusher Chandler Jones to the Philadelphia Eagles for draft pick
After over a month of drama, the Las Vegas Raiders have traded edge rusher Chandler Jones along with backup receiver DeAndre Carter to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2024 second round pick.

Jones had not played nor been with the team since late August following a social media rant where he went after Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler. While the initial posts from a few weeks ago were deleted, Jones once again took to X (formerly Twitter) last week after his fourth straight game of being inactive, posting apparent text messages with Raiders owner Mark Davis.

In a series of messages posted on X, Jones accused the Raiders owner of hiding a “huge secret” about why the 33 year-old NFL veteran isn’t with the team. Jones previously posted an apparent text exchange with Davis. It looked to be a positive response from Davis, but we see very little about what the two actually discussed. As he has done all along, Jones continues to want his social media followers to ask the team why he isn’t playing.

With Brandon Graham sidelined for at least another month with a hip injury, Jones joins a talented and loaded Philadelphia defensive line that hasn't been too productive this season. The defense ranks 31st in sacks with just two on the season, trailing only Cleveland who has one sack. Philadelphia is also bottom ten in pass defense as a result of their sluggish start to the season as a pass rushing unit.

Jones has already passed his physical and is expected to join the team this week when they travel north to play the New York Jets.

I think 3-2 with losses to Buffalo and the Chargers is about what I expected and was going for. The schedule lighten ups with Patriots, Bears, Lions, Giants and Jets (with Rodgers) so need to go 4-1 in that stretch. If we do, we're already at 7 wins (3 shy of my realistic goal for the season) and then just need to go 3-4 in our last seven games (Dolphins, Chiefs twice, Vikings, Chargers, Colts and Broncos) with very winnable games against the Colts, Broncos.

My biggest issue, even during testing, was the high number of pass attempts and low number of rushing attempts, nothing can be done there. I'm also not seeing my DL make any plays in the running game as they don't shed blockers so might tune run blocking slider for the CPU.

As far as auto subs, the only position I'm having issues is with edge rusher. They weren't rotating enough but then by increasing it, Maxx Crosby doesn't play late in games so I lowered it back down again and am not using formation subs to keep their snaps in check, specifically for Tyree Wilson since Crosby damn near played every snap last season.
