Sunderland Make Yans Sommer First Premier League Signing

Veteran keeper Yans Sommer poses after becoming the first signing of the summer for Sunderland.

Sunderland went into their first season in the premier league with the goal of adding a veteran presence who can provide leadership, particularly in defense where they were quite leaky last season. What better position to do that in than goalkeeper? The Black Cats have agreed to a £7.1M transfer with Inter Milan for the 35 year old Swiss keeper, who will immediately displace Patterson as the #1 option in that position. Patterson was decent last year and is still young so he should be able to develop behind and learn from Sommer who only has a two year contract, while getting to play in the team's cup matches.

Sunderland Sign Daniel Braganca to Strengthen Midfield

The Portuguese Braganca should add flair to Sunderland's midfield.

Sunderland have completed a second deal of the summer transfer window, this time signing 25-year-old central midfielder, Daniel Braganca from Sporting for £15M. The left footed central midfielder is expected to start at LCM in Rodgers' system displacing Ekwah as the main man there. He will be given the #7 shirt as well indicating his importance to the team. Braganca signed a deal work £35K per week making him the 2nd highest paid player at the club after the recently signed, Sommer.

Sunderland Sign Hector Bellerin from Real Betis for £8.5M

The flashy Bellerin, who models on the side, strikes a pose for the cameras.

Sunderland have pulled off a shrewd signing of 29 year old right-back, Hector Bellerin from Real Betis for just £8.5M. The Spaniard spent 9 years in the Premier League at Arsenal and should bring a wealth of experience and maturity to Sunderland's defense. He figures to start right away and act as a mentor for the younger Timothee Pembele. Bellerin will wear the #2 shirt and earn £35K per week at the club.
