One of the club's primary targets is Angel City FC's standout defender, Sarah Gorden. Gorden has been a pivotal figure for Angel City, notably playing every minute of the 2023 season and contributing significantly to the team's first NWSL playoff appearance. Her consistent performances earned her a new contract with Angel City in December 2023, extending her stay through 2026 with a mutual option for 2027. In light of potential obstacles in acquiring Gorden, Racing Louisville's scouting team has identified alternative options, including French defender Océane Deslandes and German defender Sophia Kleinherne.
