Racing Louisville FC Land Erëleta Memeti as Summer Window Closes Busy Transfer Period.
Racing Louisville FC wasted no time in reshaping their squad this summer, landing dynamic Kosovan midfielder Erëleta Memeti in a major boost for their playoff push while also bidding farewell to several key players during a flurry of transfer activity.
Memeti, 25, arrives from Germany for a transfer fee of $93,000 and has signed a deal worth $6,000 per week, providing Racing head coach Filipa Patão with much-needed depth and versatility in midfield. Known for her creativity, pressing intensity, and eye for goal, Memeti’s arrival signals Racing's intent to continue climbing the NWSL table after an up-and-down campaign.
“Erëleta brings energy, skill, and a winning mentality," Patão said after the signing was confirmed. "We believe she will be a key piece for us in the final stretch of the season.”
Racing, currently sitting 5th in the NWSL standings with a record of 6 wins, 8 draws, and 5 losses (26 points), hope that Memeti’s arrival can fuel a late surge and secure their second straight playoff appearance.
Outgoing Transfers: Sekany, Sears, and Balcer Depart
While Memeti’s addition headlines the window, Racing also saw several high-profile departures:
Goalkeeper Olivia Sekany was sold to Paris FC for $35,000, opening the door for fresh competition between the posts.
Right midfielder Emma Sears moved to the North Carolina Courage in a $56,000 deal.
Most notably, striker Bethany Balcer completed a $110,000 move to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, ending her tenure in Louisville amid her second season with the club.
The club emphasized that the sales were necessary to balance the squad and create pathways for younger players to step up.
Loan Moves: Youth Development the Focus
With an eye toward the future, Racing loaned out two of their brightest young prospects:
Najat Aziz, a 17-year-old left back scouted through the club’s Moroccan youth academy project, joined a two-year loan to further her development.
Christine Tremblay, an 18-year-old central midfielder, headed to the Houston Dash on a two-year loan aimed at gaining crucial first-team minutes.
Megan Gagnon, a 17-year old right winger, departed on a two-year loan to Angel City FC.
Both players are seen as important long-term pieces for Racing’s growing youth core.
Future Departures: Preparing for Key Contract Expirations
In addition to the summer departures, Racing confirmed that four senior players will leave the club at the conclusion of the season:
Courtney Peterson (LB) will join Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer.
Uchenna Kanu (LM) has signed a pre-contract with NJ/NY Gotham FC.
Katie O'Kane (CM) is set to join FC Fleury 91 in France.
Ary Borges (CM) will head to Turbine Potsdam in Germany.
Despite the looming exits, Racing secured an important contract extension, locking down versatile defender Ellie Pikkujämsä on a three-year deal, reinforcing the club’s commitment to continuity in the backline.
Ella Palis Leading the Charge
Amidst all the change, one constant for Racing Louisville has been the rise of Ella Palis. The 26-year-old French midfielder has blossomed into a true star this season, anchoring the midfield with her leadership, vision, and technical brilliance. Palis has already tallied 13 goals and 5 assists, providing a steady engine for Patão’s side during a season of transition.
If Palis continues her breakout form — and if Memeti quickly integrates into the midfield — Racing Louisville may be poised to secure their second consecutive playoff appearance and make serious noise in the postseason.
With September's stretch of games looming large, one thing is clear: Racing is evolving — and they're not afraid to shake things up to chase greatness.

Racing Louisville FC Promotes Surging Prospect Yasmine Ali from Academy Ranks
Racing Louisville FC announced today that 16-year-old forward Yasmine Ali has been officially called up to the first team by head coach Filipa Patão.
Ali, a standout prospect identified by Racing’s youth scouting network during a three-month talent search in Morocco, has impressed coaches with her technical ability, composure in front of goal, and raw potential to become a future star striker.
The move comes as Racing looks to bolster attacking depth following the transfer of veteran forward Bethany Balcer to German side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim earlier this window.
"Yasmine has shown incredible promise in her development," said Patão. "She’s fearless, she’s hungry, and we believe she has all the tools to thrive here. With Bethany's departure, this was the perfect opportunity to give her a chance to take her next step."
Ali will join the squad immediately and is expected to continue her growth while learning from Racing’s veteran attackers.
Ali is the second academy player from Morocco to be called up to the Senior Team, with 17-year old left back Najat Aziz being the first. Aziz is currently on a two-year loan at Liverpool.
