The gals are balling at the perfect time. We had to let Washington know what to expect if we meet in the finals. #PalisPalaceCaptain Canada wrote: ↑19 Jul 2025, 15:36Went and let Washington know who really are the top dogs in the NWSL![]()

Tremendous win for the team but it wouldn't have happened if Flint didn't go clutch mode & score at the 119' mark when a second Extra Time ended at 120'

The only PK shootout ever in this franchise. Shit came down to the wire thanks to #26.

One Win from a Dynasty: Racing Louisville Charging Toward Historic Three-Peat

Racing Louisville FC is on the verge of something rare in the NWSL: a full-blown dynasty.
With head coach Filipa Patão at the helm for a fifth straight season, Louisville has become the league’s gold standard — and now, just one win separates them from a third consecutive championship. After finishing the regular season second on the table with a 16-5-5 record, Racing has powered through the playoffs and into the NWSL Final, where a familiar foe — the Washington Spirit — stands in their way.
The engine behind Racing’s dominance? A relentless attack headlined by team captain Ella Palis, who continues to redefine consistency. The French forward just secured her third straight Golden Boot, scoring 25 goals in 2028 — a career high following seasons of 20, 20, and 16. Her ability to deliver in big moments has become routine, not exception.
Beside her, Savannah DeMelo once again led the league in assists for the fourth straight season, continuing her reign as the most creative force in the NWSL. Her chemistry with Palis has been the league’s most dangerous connection — and it’s shown week after week.
Still, the playoffs required more than stats — they demanded heart. After a tight 1-0 win over the NC Courage in the quarterfinals — thanks to Alisha Lehmann’s 59th-minute goal — Racing survived a thriller against the KC Current in the semifinals. Down late in extra time, it was longtime club veteran Taylor Flint, with nearly nothing left on the clock, who rescued the season with a 119th-minute equalizer to send the game to penalties.
“If Taylor doesn’t bury that chance, we’re not in this final,” said Patão post-match. “That’s who we are. Fighters.. Survivors.. & back to back NWSL' Champions.”
From there, Erëleta Memeti, Lehmann, and DeMelo buried their spot kicks, while Regina van Eijk — third in the league in clean sheets (5) — made two clutch saves to send Louisville through, 3-1 in the shootout.
Now, the final chapter awaits — and it comes with familiar faces. Janine Beckie, once a core player for Racing, now starts for Washington after her 2026 move. While she never reached a final in purple, she’ll try to keep her former team from reaching legendary status.
But if their last meeting is any indication, Racing may hold the edge. In Matchday 26, Louisville handed the Spirit a 7-1 blowout — with Palis scoring four, DeMelo adding two, and Lehmann converting a penalty in a performance that shook the league.
Still, the Spirit topped the table with a 17-7-2 record, and with Ada Hegerberg’s 20-goal campaign, they remain the biggest threat to derail the dream.
But this is Racing Louisville’s moment. Built from within. Tested by fire. On the doorstep of a legacy.
One more win. One more statement. The three-peat is within reach.
