Players to Watch

ImagePF Andres Moserez (So.), 6'11", 216lbs | 16.6 PPG, 7.3 RPG, .9 SPG, .8 BPG
With a tall frame and more than reliable shooting stroke, Moserez allows Stanford to stretch the floor and free up plenty of space in the lane for Ricci to work his size advantage. Despite having better ball handlers on the floor at times, Stanford has been successful this season when they can comfortably run the offense through Moserez.

ImageC Sid Ricci (Sr.), 7'0", 273lbs | 14.7 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 2.8 BPG, .9 SPG
Sid Ricci, Stanford's captain and lone starting upperclassman, wants to avenge what is remembered today as Brian Katz's first upset win over a ranked opponent against his, then ranked #24 Stanford Cardinal, back in the 2007-2008 season. Ricci's size and mobility makes him a key player on both sides of the ball. Since their last meeting, Ricci has emerged both as a locker-room leader and leader on the floor. Forcing Ricci to have an off-night on both sides of the ball is pivotal if Sacramento State wants to find opportunities against the Cardinal.

Big Sky Preview: Sacramento State Looking To Trounce Big Sky Following Early Conference Tourney Exit

This time last year, many thought that with Big Sky All-American G Anand Prillman and one of the best incoming classes at this level in the country, Sacramento State had everything it needed to secure it's first NCAA division tournament bid. Those dreams were shattered after they were bounced from the first round of the Big Sky tournament, ending their season and Prillman's career abruptly. Now in his third season and more talent than before, Brian Katz could find himself on the chopping block if he makes a habit of early postseason exits. With Mid-Major POY candidate Josh Iversen having a dominant non-conference segment of the season, everyone is surely hoping to see that dominance continue into Big Sky play.

Big Sky fanatics will recall last year's Freshman of the Year race against CSUS's C Josh Iversen and NAU's C Cam Aguilar. CSUS faithful argue that Aguilar stole the honor from the more deserving Iversen. This storyline has outgrown the rookie of the year into a battle between the two young leaders for Big Sky Player of the Year. While CSUS is the clear favorite for the Big Sky Regular Season Championship, Aguilar and NAU will undoubtedly be eager to spoil the party once again for the Hornets.

Players to Watch

ImageC Ike Keller (RS Sr.), 6'9", 265lbs | 12.6 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.1 BPG Career Stats
Keller was one of the more dominant lower level D1 centers in college basketball last season, but injuries combined with an abysmal started all-around for Eastern Washington has put Keller and the rest of his teammates into a must-win situation going into every game. Keller has started in four of EWU's 12 losses, and only even played in seven. Keller will be hoping for a great game in what is his first game back 100% and in the starting lineup for the Eagles. At 100%, Keller shows shades of Sir Charles Barkley, making up for whatever size disadvantage he may have with explosiveness and emotion on the floor.

Players to Watch

ImageSG Dion Borders* (RS Sr.), 6'5", 223lbs | 27.0 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 8 GP 8 GS Season Stats
Fresno State's main guy, Dion Borders, is currently questionable pending a game-time decision for Coach Cleveland after sustaining a shoulder injury in the first half against Michigan State. With the weight and frame of a large forward but speed of some of the quickest guards, Borders is a downhill threat that creates foul-trouble and rushed defensive sets, two things that have killed the Hornets all season. Ontop of that, Borders is currently shooting 50% on 75 attempts from three, knocking down eight in a single game earlier this year.

ImagePG Shieku Foye (Jr.), 6'9", 265lbs | 8.6 ppg, 4.5 apg, 33% 3PT% Season Stats
Shieku Foye has been the perfect facilitator for Borders thus far, playing a large part in some of the Bulldog's victories and hard fought losses. With Borders out of the game, Foye will have the chance to better showcase his abilities as the primary ball handler and scorer in the offense. A tenured defender with playing experience and strong outings against some of the strongest offenses on the West Coast, freshman PG Homer Blanchard should have his work cut out for him.

ImageSF Hugh Shropshire (Fr.), 6'7", 234lbs | 6.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg Season Stats
With C Halston Nava fully recovered and likely back in the starting five, Shropshire will likely be matched up against Sac. State breakout star F Josh Iversen. Because of Iversen's ability to control the outcome of the game for Sacramento State, Shropshire and the rest of Fresno State's capability to shut Iversen down defensively will be the bottom line of nearly every huddle for the Bulldogs tonight.
