Manchester United Promote Gabriel Davey to First Team
Davey has been fast-tracked to the first team.
Manchester, England — Manchester United have confirmed that 17-year-old academy midfielder Gabriel Davey has been promoted to the first team ahead of the upcoming Europa League fixture against Bodø/Glimt.
Standing at 6'3" and 174 pounds, the left-footed attacking midfielder has impressed coaches with his composure, passing range, and maturity beyond his years. Originally deployed as a central creator in United’s academy setup, Davey has been fast-tracked into senior contention following the season-ending injury to Amad Diallo.
Under Rúben Amorim’s current 3-4-2-1 system, Davey is expected to feature on the right attacking midfield line, providing height, control, and technical balance alongside Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho.
“Gabriel’s been outstanding in training — intelligent, brave, and eager to learn,” Amorim said ahead of the trip to Norway. “He’s earned this opportunity.”
Davey’s promotion continues United’s commitment to youth integration under Amorim, following recent breakthroughs from Kobbie Mainoo, Ethan Wheatley, and Harry Amass. A debut start in the Europa League would mark another milestone for United’s thriving academy and a new chapter in Davey’s rapid rise.
