Bulls land another early addition to '41 class with uber athletic linebacker Cory Manson
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider
The University of South Florida has received another commitment from four-star linebacker Cory Manson, the ninth ranked outside linebacker according to 247 Sports, joining five-star receiver Scott Price as the first two members of the class.
Manson has some impressive testing numbers with a 4.62 in the forty and has videos of him squatting over six hundred pounds at just five-foot-eleven and 220 pounds. Manson does a bit of everything for his high school team, including playing offense at running back, and has shown the potential of being a three-level player with the ability to rush the passer or set the edge, play off ball linebacker as well as drop down in coverage.
A good comparison for Manson are a few throwback USF linebackers in Greg Booth and Mark Jackson that were great athletes that developed into great linebackers at the college level. A more recent comp might be Brett Freeman in terms of athletic profile but Manson is probably a bit better than Freeman was coming out of high school.
Rutgers, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech were involved in his recruitment.

USF's Millines, Cunningham to play in season opener against LSU
Cooper Byrd -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer
USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. confirmed to the media on Thursday that both quarterbacks Jet Millines and Mark Cunningham will play in the season opener against LSU.
"They'll both get a chance to play early in the game and we'll go from there," Francois Sr. told the media during his final press availability before the opener, "They both competed really hard and started to separated themselves from the rest of the group."
The team released their first official depth chart of the season on Wednesday with Millines, a junior, and Cunningham, a true freshman, listed as co-starters at quarterback. Millines started most of last season before losing the starting job to Jacob Venckus. Venckus was also part of the quarterback competition that included JUCO transfer Brandon Riley as well who is listed as the third quarterback, not Venckus, on the depth chart.
There are also co-starters at other positions including running back with three starters listed in five-star running backs Kellen Wright, Jacob Wheeler, and Eric Valentine. Seniors Dane Clay and Cody Fuller won their respective starting jobs at guard and safety, becoming first time starters in their final season at USF.

Bulls open season with impressive defensive outing in win over LSU
What was loss in last year's debacle of a season that saw the defending national champions win just seven games was in the midst of all of the offense's struggles, USF's defense finished the season as a below average defense in most defensive categories.
In the opener against LSU, USF's defense reintroduced itself to the college football world as a potential elite unit, holding the Tigers to less than 336 yards of total offense and just 115 passing yards in the 20-12 win on Saturday.
The Bulls started true freshman Mark Cunningham at quarterback who rotated with junior Jet Millines throughout the game with Millines leading the Bulls on back to back scoring drives to take the lead in the second quarter. Millines finished the game with 165 yards passing and a touchdown while Cunningham dealt with drops early on in the game, completing just 46 percent of his passes for 82 yards.
Cunningham led a touchdown drive to start the second half, extending the Bulls lead to eight.
LSU had two changes to tie the game but they got bogged down in the red zone, settling for a field goal, and after a USF field goal, they had another shot at it with less than two minutes left but turned the ball over on downs.

Five-star DT Shawn Thomas commits to USF as Bulls continue to load up the trenches
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider
Five-star defensive tackle Shawn Thomas out of North Carolina has committed to the University of South Florida, picking the Bulls over a slew of national programs in Purdue, BYU, Tennessee, Alabama and others.
Thomas, listed as six-foot-one and 291 pounds, will be joining a loaded defensive tackle room next year that currently features three signings from last season in four-star Nick Brown, three-star Brandon Smith and JUCO transfer Derek Simpson. The team will also likely be returning sophomore Brett Lawrence and potentially junior Jesse Berrong, who could bolt for the draft with a productive year.
At six-foot-one, Thomas' more tapped out physically than Brown and Simpson who are a bit more angular but he's just as agile with an impressive first step. He's a disruptive pass rusher from the inside and will likely make his impact on passing downs early in his college career as he develops into an every down player.
In Trai Martinez' 3-4 scheme, Thomas is a good enough athlete to even play the five technique as a defensive end and occasionally be asked to set the edge. In sub packages, he's a prototypical two or three technique that performs best when he's allowed to get upfield.

USF routs Gators once more as Millines, Cunningham combine for seven touchdowns
In their previous three matchups, the University of South Florida has scored at least fifty-six points against the Florida Gators while holding the Gators offense to under twenty points.
Even for an offense that's still trying to recover from last season's disaster, the Gators were just what the doctor ordered as the Bulls hung a sixty-piece on the Gators in Gainesville, beating them soundly 63-9 on Saturday to hand the Gators their second loss of the year already.
Jet Millines got the start at quarterback for the Bulls this week, rotating every two drives with Mark Cunningham. It was a flawless day for Millines, completing 22 of 26 passes for 257 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 116 yards, helping run out the clock in the second half.
Cunningham got off to a perfect start as well with completing his first nine passes before throwing an interception. He wouldn't complete another pass for the day as the Bulls started to get their running game going to the tune of 261 yards on the ground, led by true freshman Jacob Wheeler's 107-yard performance.
Both Millines ad Cunningham connected with William Sapp for long touchdowns as Sapp finished the day with five receptions for 188 yards, scoring on all but two of them. He also reeled in a 57-yard pass to set up Wheeler's touchdown in the third quarter.
