Truck Series Championship Race | Phoenix Raceway
LOGAN McQUEEN III BESTS HEIM UNDER THE LIGHTS TO WIN THE TRUCK SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP

McQUEEN OUTDUELS HEIM FOR THE TITLE
On the biggest stage of the season, Logan McQueen III delivered the performance of his career. Under the bright lights of Phoenix Raceway, the driver of the No. 51 Horizon Hobby / Peak Motorsports Chevrolet clawed his way to the front from an 11th place start and claimed the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship.
The evening began with McQueen rolling off 11th after a tight qualifying session dominated by Layne Riggs. McQueen qualified the worst out of the championship four with Heim 2nd Chastain 4th and Busch in 6th but the No. 51 wasted no time slicing forward. By Lap 10, McQueen had cracked the top five. By Lap 20, he was one of the fastest trucks on the racetrack and tracking down the top three of Heim, Chastain and Riggs.
By the end of Stage One McQueen was hounding Corey Heim for the lead but settled for a strong second-place finish, scoring nine crucial stage points. It was a preview of the duel that was coming.
Stage Two was all McQueen. The No. 51 blasted past Heim on the restart and never looked back, taking the stage win by several truck lengths. Even more importantly, McQueen established control of the preferred lane and showed the long-run pace that would define the race.
The final stage turned into a heavyweight fight between the championship contenders. Heim and McQueen swapped the lead multiple times as green-flag pit stops cycled through. A late caution brought the field together one last time, with the title hanging in the balance.
On the restart, McQueen launched perfectly, clearing Heim before the exit of Turn 2. From there, it was all clean air and perfect execution. Heim made one last charge with five laps to go, but McQueen answered with a flawless defensive line and drove away to secure his 10th win of the season, the most in a single year in Truck Series history.
When the checkered flag waved, McQueen crossed the finish line with a half-second advantage over Heim and clinched the championship.
As he climbed out of the truck, Phoenix erupted.
“I can’t thank my crew enough,” McQueen said in the championship celebration. “This trophy means a lot to all of us at Peak Motorsports. I want to thank our team in the garage, our office staff, and definitely our partners at Horizon Hobby for helping make this a moment a reality!”
It was a night of speed, execution, and pressure management, and Logan “Lightning” McQueen met the moment in every possible way.
