Only his third of the season, I can live with that. Tried to force a seam route that the safety broke on. Unfortunate.
They tried their best, it just wasn't close to enough
Slanderous comparing Coach Augustine before the paperwork to that probably criminal at JMU, that man is a deliquent.ShireNiner wrote: ↑20 Mar 2026, 08:48Coach Nico should join his twin at JMU it sounds like. One step away from offering abortion pills to recruits at this point.
Good win though.
Had to, it's BTA all season long.

The Reclamation Initiative | The Coaching Career of Nico Augustine

Mustangs feel the bite of allegations, lose out on Brand, Rattay - remain hopeful on Keyton
By Cheryl Smith
DALLAS -- Amidst the chaos, SMU football has displayed some of their most dominant performances in recent history under the Nico Augustine era.
They were bound to show cracks on some front at some point. The number one player in the country, offensive lineman Darrius Bland contacted SMU and Coach Augustine to announce his intention to sign his Letter of Intent with Arkansas, officially concluding his recruitment. This is one of the most seismic losses for SMU, especially with projections showing Bland to be a shoe-in to join the Mustangs.
Coach Augustine himself dismissed all notion that SMU being in hot water had nothing to do with Bland committing elsewhere when asked by reporters. "If you know [Darius Bland], you would know he's a very quiet and private kid. It's almost as if he wishes he wasn't such a big deal so he could just put his head down and play football," he said. "He wants to go somewhere that respects that and allows him to just compete. He called me yesterday and told me, 'Coach, I don't believe any of that stuff, but I need to make a decision and there's just too much going on over there'. I respected his decision and I wish him the best."
The losses did not end there, as five-star quarterback J.J. Rattay made the decision to commit to Mississippi State along with four-star free safety Damien Burns. Five-star defensive tackle Kurtis Meadows made the decision to announce his commitment to Nebraska. Quarterback Alex Keyton is one of the remaining big prospects the Mustangs are waiting on, who announces he will be choosing soon.
When pressed for more information on how SMU is combatting recruiting with the investigation looming, Coach Augustine did reveal it is tough, but it is necessary for the team "to clean their hands of all these unfounded allegations."
Is this the new normal for SMU football?

Saturday, November 16, 2029 | Gerald J. Ford Stadium (Dallas, TX)
Week 12 Preview: vs Georgia Tech (5-4, 3-3)
Synopsis
The number one team in the country, SMU, continues to run up the score against everyone they play - a personal vendetta against everything that is going on with the program in the media. They pummelled Memphis, they decimated Tulane, now Georgia Tech is up next.
Back in the day, Deon Lowe was a younger quarterback that outplayed former SMU quarterback Ryder Burton on the way to one of the most devastating losses during the Nico Augustine Era. SMU has seemingly made it their mission to never lose again. They now are led by Heisman frontrunner Alonzo Cheeseman and have not lost a football game in almost two years.
Georgia Tech is theorized to fend better than Memphis and Tulane due to Lowe improving as a quarterback every week. He hasn't been able to really put a good campaign together for Georgia Tech to take that next step in the ACC, but hopes their defense can slow down this armada of a Mustang offense enough to stay in the game.
The goal for the Yellow Jackets has to be to make this game somewhat competitive. It's their only hope. Slow down edge rusher Davon Kamara, try to keep control of the ball, and get the Mustangs off the field on third down.

That recruit board is slick, very nice stuff.
Missing out on a recruit already, just the beginning of Coach Augustine's world slipping away. Better escape these allegations or else it is back to the lower leagues coach.

Can't be mad at the recruits we've got, but missing out on Darrius Bland is a real fucking shame. We lose out on BOTH J,J. Rattay and Alex Keyton at QB and we might be in some trouble.ShireNiner wrote: ↑21 Mar 2026, 14:45That recruit board is slick, very nice stuff.

Game Summary
SMU continues to strut its stuff through the ACC, coasting through the backside of their ACC schedule. This time, they defeated Georgia Tech 45-13 thanks to quarterback Alonzo Cheeseman's dominant, 6-touchdown game while running back Cal McCalebb churned the Yellow Jackets' front seven to the tune of 138 yards on the ground.
Cheeseman continues to deliver a masterclass in quarterback play, throwing five touchdowns through the air - three of which went to star tight end Dwayne Kasay. Kasay dominated every matchup he faced, including a fourth quarter scamper into the end zone from 93 yards out that got Gerald J. Ford Stadium onto their feet. Not like they hadn't spent most of their afternoon on them already.
Star linebacker and captain Keke Madden had himself a game leading the Mustangs' red-hot defense, becoming an absolute menace in the Georgia Tech backfield with 9 total tackles and five tackles for loss. He also turned over Georgia Tech quarterback Deon Lowe twice - one as a forced fumble when he delivered a bone-crunching hit stick and the other when he dropped into coverage and picked him off.
"We're playing really good, mistake-free football," said head coach Nico Augustine after SMU's most recent dominant performance. "We're trying to finish this season on a high note when everything and everyone is trying to bring us down. We've got a mission to accomplish."
SMU seems destined to encounter Miami for the ACC championship game, but will get a break next for their bye week before finishing their season against Wake Forest.
