DAYS ON THE SOUTHSIDE

The Houston Rockets finished off the 2022-2023 season with a narrow win over the Los Angeles Lakers. As narrow as it was, it was filled with momentum to carry the team in the playoffs. It was a tall order coming out of the gates against Los Angeles again, but set backs to Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis took the wind out of their sails and helped the Rockets get over in game 7. Despite advancing in the playoffs, the series ahead were not any easier. Dealing with the San Antonio Spurs for another seven games, New Orleans for six more, the path to the NBA finals was rocky, and Recks could do nothing but sit on sideline on pins and needles. Fortune was on their side as they captured the Western Conference Finals Championship.

It was a ecstatic moment for the team, setting to make their fifth appearance in the NBA Finals. Right there and then, it was set in stone: the Boston Celtics vs the Houston Rockets for the 2023 NBA Championship. For Boston, they made work in the east, defeating Ben Simmons and the Pistons, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, and Bradley Beal and the Cleveland Cavaliers. A 7-5-5 set of series to the Finals and they were firing on all cylinders with a healthy squad, where as the Rockets had some lapses with minor injuries, but nothing to keep anyone from playing aside from Recks and Kevin Porter Jr. The team knew what time it was and how luxurious a spot in the Finals is for any team and they were not about to let their moment go to waste.

June 20th, 2023. Game seven. Both the Celtics and Rockets could not put away the series any sooner, and it all came down to this one last and final bout to the round...

Recks looked on in the locker room, watching the team get ready for the last game of the series. Even with an injury and not playing, it was nerve wrecking for him. All he wanted to do was suit up and play, help the team get the win, go home a champion. But he knew that wasn't his place. He knew he had to leave it in his teammates' hands and trust in them. If anything, he made sure they were laxed and prepped with last minute studies on the Celtics. Time was dwindling down and game time was here. With a last few moments, Recks gathered the team in prayer and rally.

"With prayer out of the way, I want to tell you guys one thing: let's go home champions. You guys came way too far to go back or drop everything here and now. I'm sorry Kevin and I haven't been at our best to help y'all, but y'all don't need us. Y'all proven that time and time again that there is strength in unity and teamwork. Tonight is about you guys. Those fans out there are to see you win. Friends, family, everybody, they're all behind you in support. Most of all, you got each other to weather this one final storm. Because on the other side is there's nothing but gold. Trust me, I've been there and I want to get back there with you fellas, because you men deserve it all... We clutching this title tonight! Rockets on three! 1... 2... 3..."

"ROCKETS!!", the team shouted behind the rally and made their way through the corridor, out into the spotlight where the lights were the brightest.

For the next 48 minutes of play time, Recks would find himself at the end of the bench, supporting the team, and not too far from him was Khyri and Kairos a couple rows behind, enjoying themselves to a tightly contested game. Both Jalen Green and Jayson tatum, two young brothers in the NBA, showcasing themselves as the best of the best in the league today, trading points. Games was so tight, momentum could've easily swung one way to another with the slip of a turnover or missed opportunity. Despite their incredible performances, at the end of the night, only one team could be crowned NBA Champion...

Man, luck was on our side. Russ out unbeknownst and Davis going down in game 3, we had a chance. Was hoping we could close out in 6, but LeBron being LeBron, had to make it seven games, but we got the job done though :obama:

Road to the finals was crazy long. Couldn't get a sweep anywhere :rg3:
