No. 3 Stanford routs No. 13 LSU as both teams rest starters in second half amid blowout
Stanford coach Bubba Mack's biggest gaff of the night came at halftime when, leading 42-0, he rallied the the troops, letting them to expect the LSU Tigers to come out 'swinging and fighting' and that they should expect a tough fight until the very end of the night.

Shortly after, during warmups, it was clear that LSU had waved the white flag and were pulling their starters for the second half. Stanford did the same.

"I really had some egg on my face on that one," Mack told the media after the game of his halftime speech, "I did all that talking and first play, we see their backups out there so it was a bit embarrassing on my part. I don't know, I guess they do things a bit different in Baton Rouge."

Stanford handed Lane Kiffin the worst loss of his six-year tenure at LSU as the Tigers fell 59-17 to the Cardinal on Saturday night in front of a sold out Tiger Stadium that was reduced to a murmur by the second quarter.

Stanford quarterback Earl Nienhuis threw for five touchdowns in the first half, including a six-yard touchdown to Rodney Cookus on fourth and goal that pushed the incoming rout into full gear. Less than forty seconds later following an interception of LSU's J.D. Cote, Nienuis found Timmy Neil on a quick out route that turned the first down into a touchdown 54-yards later.

Nienhuis, along with Stanford's other starters, did not play in the second half. The Cardinal played all four scholarship quarterbacks, with all of them leading scoring drives.

Love the shade being thrown at Kiffin. You are having no issues with the gauntlet schedule.
