JKS can’t be turning the ball over like that if you’re gonna run the table the rest of the way. But should be an easy win over a Stanford team with half their guys in the hospital
:yup: tried my best to throw that game away, gotta take care of the football down the stretch here. Yeah man when I was saw some of their best players out I knew it wouldn't be close.

With its season reaching the final stretch and its College Football Playoff hopes becoming more tangible by the week, No. 7 California delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Saturday, overwhelming Stanford 38–14 and taking control of the rivalry from the opening quarter.

Cal entered the week having jumped all the way to No. 7 in the latest CFP rankings, putting the program firmly in the national championship conversation. Rather than stumble under the pressure, Cal looked every bit like a playoff contender.

After both teams traded possessions to open the afternoon, Cal finally broke through with 3:56 remaining in the first quarter, when quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele connected with Ian Strong for a 4-yard touchdown.

That touchdown would be the beginning of a monster afternoon for Strong, who finished with 134 yards receiving on the day.

Cal exploded in the second quarter, scoring 21 points and effectively putting the game out of reach before halftime.

Adam Mohammed opened the quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run with 9:56 remaining, extending the lead to 14.

With six minutes left in the half, Sagapolutele found Strong for a 40-yard touchdown, giving the receiver his second touchdown of the afternoon and pushing Cal's advantage to 21–0.

The Cardinal continued to struggle moving the football, and Cal's special teams got involved when Kyion Grayes ripped off a 59-yard punt return touchdown that saw him both outrun and run through defenders.

The Golden Bears added another three points on a 22-yard Towns McGough field goal with 2:35 remaining in the quarter.

At that point, Cal had scored 31 unanswered points. The Cardinal finally showed some life in the fourth quarter, but by then the outcome was essentially decided.

Stanford broke the shutout with an 11:54 touchdown pass from Mike Groves to Chico Holt, cutting the deficit to 31–7. Cal answered right back. Sagapolutele found Dajuan McKinley for a 13-yard touchdown with 7:41 remaining, restoring the 31-point advantage.

This wasn't simply another rivalry win. For Cal, it was another piece of evidence that the Golden Bears belong in the playoff conversation. They controlled the line of scrimmage. They created explosive plays. They played complementary football. They belong.
