Texas A&M 2025 Offseason Departures Recap

The offseason brought significant change to College Station as Texas A&M saw a major portion of its veteran production move on through graduation, the transfer portal, and the NFL Draft. While roster turnover is expected in today’s college football landscape, the Aggies are tasked with replacing proven experience on both sides of the ball including Multiple All-Americans, All-SEC selections, and national award winners

Offensive Departures

Texas A&M’s offense will look markedly different in 2026, highlighted by a full reset at quarterback and heavy losses across the skill positions and offensive line.

At quarterback, starter Marcel Reed departed via the transfer portal after leading the offense, joined by graduate backup Jacob Zeno and depth pieces Brady Hart and Eli Morcos. The running back room also saw major turnover, headlined by Le’Veon Moss declaring for the NFL, while Ruben Owens II transferred and veterans Amari Daniels and EJ Smith exhausted their eligibility.

The Aggies also lose top-end receiving production with NFL-bound wideout Kevin Concepcion and transfer Mario Craver departing, while tight end Amari Niblack and key depth options graduate. Up front, A&M must replace its entire starting offensive line, including Trey Zuhn III, Folinu'u Faaiu, Ae’Maj Reed-Adams, and Dametrois Crownover, along with primary backup Reuben Fatheree II.

QB: Marcel Reed (So) (1st String, Transfer), Jacob Zeno (2nd String, Graduate), Brady Hart (Fr) (3rd String, Transfer), Eli Morcos (Fr) (4th String, Transfer)
RB: Le'Veon Moss (1st string, NFL), Ruben Owens II (So) (2nd string, Transfer), Amari Daniels (3rd String, Graduated), EJ Smith (4th String, Graduate)

[*]16 Rushing Touchdowns
[*]183 Receptions

Defensive Departures

Defensively, Texas A&M loses the core of a unit that consistently applied pressure and created havoc. Edge rushers Dayon Hayes and Cashius Howell move on after anchoring the pass rush, while interior standouts Tyler Onyedim and Albert Regis also graduate.

Linebacker Scooby Williams departs after manning the MIKE role, and the secondary takes a hit with the graduations of Will Lee III and Bryce Anderson, along with multiple depth contributors. Special teams will also need retooling following the graduation of starting kicker Jared Zirkel.

EDGE: Dayon Hayes (Starter LEDG, Graduated), Cashius Howell (Starter REDG, Graduated)
DT: Tyler Onyedim (Starter, Graduated), Albert Regis (Starter, Graduated)
LB: Scooby Williams (Starter MIKE, Graduated)

Outlook

The scale of departures underscores the challenge facing Texas A&M heading into the next season. Experience, leadership, and elite production have moved on, placing added importance on player development, portal additions, and next-man-up readiness. While the losses are substantial, the Aggies now enter a defining transition year—one that will shape the program’s trajectory moving forward.

Way to finish off the season with a bowl win, too bad it wasn't a better bowl though
I was looking over the end of season stats and, at least on offense, the departures didn't look too bad, had another season or two with Reed :iranmaybe:
Then I hit the transfers article.

Losing so many offensive weapons is going to hurt. Reed going is a massive loss.

Yeah I didn’t expect to lose him or Owens, so that hurt but then realising both starting WR’s left that hurt a lot.

I lost so much on D that I will need to retool there and look for a new starting QB and RB, so the portal could be hit hard for me to find some new starters.

Cheers for following.

Yeah as a shock to be honest and was kinda pissed about it, I’m not sure what else I could have done to get him to stay.

Hopefully I can get him back in the portal.

Cheers for following.

Top Positional Transfer Portal Players
The latest wave of transfer-portal movement has reshaped rosters across the country, with blue-chip underclassmen headlining one of the most talent-rich cycles to date. Programs like Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and USC have aggressively targeted multi-year impact players, while several high-end prospects remain unsigned and could still swing depth charts before spring camp.

Below is a comprehensive look at the top positional players on the move this cycle — and what their transfers mean for the national landscape.

Quarterbacks
This year’s quarterback movement is defined by high-upside underclassmen looking for clearer paths to starting roles.

Darian Mensah (SO), Duke → Texas — Dual-threat explosiveness in a loaded QB room.
Marcel Reed (SO), Texas A&M → USC — Perfect fit for Lincoln Riley’s system.
Devon Dampier (JR), Utah → Texas — Adds dynamic running ability to Texas’ depth chart.

Texas and USC both walk away as major winners at the position.

Running Backs
A mix of power backs and home-run hitters highlight this group.

Ahmad Hardy (SO), Missouri → Unsigned — One of the most intriguing uncommitted backs.
Isaac Brown (SO), Louisville → Ole Miss — Versatile weapon for Lane Kiffin.
Kewan Lacy (SO), Ole Miss → Texas A&M — SEC-ready physicality.

Wide Receivers
This might be the strongest position in the portal, with multiple former five-stars on the move.

Cam Coleman (SO), Auburn → Ole Miss — Massive pickup, true WR1 talent.
Bryant Wesco Jr. (SO), Clemson → Colorado — Elite perimeter threat for Coach Prime.
Mario Craver (SO), Texas A&M → Auburn — Adds instant speed.

Tight Ends
A mix of athletic pass-catchers and versatile blockers.

Dorian Fleming (SO), Maryland → Unsigned — Top available TE.
Trey’dez Green (SO), LSU → Texas — Matchup nightmare with rare size.
Benjamin Brahmer (JR), Iowa State → Unsigned — High-value target still on the board.

Offensive Tackles
Premium position, premium talent — several programs landed cornerstone pieces.

Carter Smith (JR), Indiana → Ohio State — Plug-and-play Big Ten tackle.
Jordan Seaton (SO), Colorado → Notre Dame — Ideal fit for Irish OL tradition.
Caleb Lomu (SO), Utah → Oregon — Long-term bookend for the Ducks.

Guards
Interior OL talent is always scarce, making these additions especially valuable.

Addison Nichols (JR), SMU → Alabama — SEC size and experience.
Tarn Tyo (JR), Cincinnati → Notre Dame — Strengthens elite OL pipeline.
Kalan Ellis (JR), San Diego State → Washington — Adds power to Huskies’ rebuild.

Centres
Three players who can anchor an offensive line for multiple seasons.

Tyson Ruffins (SO), California → USC — Huge win for Trojans’ interior.
Roderick Kearney (SO), Florida → Unsigned — Top uncommitted lineman.
Ashton Craig (JR), Notre Dame → Boise State — High-IQ leader up front.

Edge Rushers
Explosive pass-rushers dominate this group — several landed at national contenders.

Colin Simmons (SO), Texas → Texas A&M — One of the biggest flips of the cycle.
Trey White (JR), San Diego State → Notre Dame — Brings length and twitch.
John Henry Daley (SO), Utah → Texas — High-motor rusher for the Longhorns.

Defensive Tackles
Elite interior defenders are rare — these three are instant starters.

Justin Scott (SO), Miami → Michigan — Massive addition for the Wolverines.
Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy (JR), South Carolina → Penn State — Disruptive interior presence.
John Walker (SO), UCF → Miami — Huge win for Hurricanes’ defensive front.

Linebackers
Instinctive, athletic linebackers who can play immediately.

Rasheem Biles (JR), Pittsburgh → Ohio State — Adds speed to Buckeyes’ second level.
Kyle Louis (JR), Pittsburgh → Penn State — Natural fit in Manny Diaz’s system.
Austin Romaine (JR), Kansas State → Missouri — Toughness and range.

]Cornerbacks
Strong group of cover specialists with multi-year eligibility.

Keith Abney II (JR), Arizona State → Ohio State — Huge addition for a playoff contender.
Zabien Brown (SO), Alabama → BYU — Rare SEC-caliber athlete for the Cougars.
Eli Bowen (SO), Oklahoma → Illinois — Perfect fit for Bielema’s DB pipeline.

Safeties
Versatile, physical defensive backs who can play multiple roles.

Koi Perich (SO), Minnesota → Duke — One of the most complete safeties in the portal.
Toa Johnson (JR), Utah → Louisville — Size and range for the Cardinals.
Amare Ferrell (JR), Indiana → Georgia Tech — Adds athleticism to the Yellow Jackets’ secondary.

Overall Takeaways
Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and USC appear to be the biggest winners across multiple positions.
• Underclassmen movement is at an all-time high, with SO/JR players dominating the top tier.
• Several unsigned players (Hardy, Fleming, Brahmer, Kearney) could still shift the balance of power.
• The portal continues to function like a second recruiting cycle — but with more proven talent and immediate impact.[/size]
