C.J. Carr edges out Tavien St. Clair in highly contested Heisman voting
Jessica West -- SI.com
In one of the most narrow Heisman votes in history, Michigan's C.J. Carr narrowly beat out Stanford quarterback Tavien St. Clair to take home the Heisman Trophy, winning the prestigious award at the university his famed grandfather used to coach.
Carr, who transferred to Michigan after two seasons at Notre Dame, completed sixty-five percent of his passes for 4,308 yards and forty three touchdowns to just two interceptions. In his last two years, Carr has thrown for 74 touchdowns and just three interceptions, being one of college football's most efficient passers of all time.
St. Clair, ironically an Ohio State transfer, strung together some impressive rushing performances in the final stretch of the season, rushing for at least 145 yards in the last four games of the regular season and had a 214-yard rushing performance against No. 3 Miami earlier in the season. In their respective conference championship game, St. Clair threw two interceptions and fumbled twice while Carr threw for five touchdowns against Oregon to win the B10 Championship and claim the top seed heading into the playoffs.

Stanford quarterbacks Josh Ghee and Steele Pizzella enter the transfer portal amid Skyler Williams rumors
Chris Wallace -- 247Sports Stanford Football Insider
The quarterback that led Bubba Mack's Kennesaw State Owls to the College Football Playoffs, Skyler Williams, has entered the transfer portal. Within a few hours, he was joined by Stanford's Josh Ghee and Steele Pizzella, the two quarterbacks that backed up Tavien St. Clair last season.
As it stands today, the Cardinal have just one scholarship quarterback in redshirt freshman Alex Rowe following the departures (for now) of Ghee and Pizzella. Ghee started in the bowl game and seemed in line to be the next starter but entered the transfer portal shortly after in a move that reportedly surprised the coaching staff, including Mack. The staff had communicated to Ghee throughout the bowl preparation that he would be the 'favorite' to win the job but that he would need to compete with Pizzella and others.
The Owls have sixteen players that have entered the portal despite going 10-4 and winning the C-USA in the first season since Mack left. Among those include running back JaMarice Wilder that was a 1,000-yard rusher under Mack and defensive backs Tevin Cameron and Miles Kyle that were recruited to Kennesaw State by Mack.
The pair of quarterbacks are the latest entries into the portal but far from the first with ten players having entered the portal since the end of the season, including kicker Andres Garcon and guard Gregory Hocker and perhaps most notable safety Xavier Squires and receiver Deon Jasso that were prominent members of last year's team.
