100% on me. We were already up 28-0 and he only had 83 passing yards, was trying to hit some big plays to pad the numbers before we got up too big. Then once I started throwing picks I was trying to make up for them

My bad, Fred. That's on me.
He's a 22 year old kid who got carried away after punking the dude that beat them in the playoffs last year. LET HIM BE A KID
or he'll throw you in the gulag too

Chanticleers Announce MLB Melvin Dwumfour To Be Placed On Academic Probation
Conway, SC. - Coastal Carolina freshman linebacker Melvin Dwumfour, the younger brother of starting FS AJ Dwumfour, has been placed on academic probation following a violation of the university’s academic integrity policy, the program announced Tuesday.
Dwumfour, who is redshirting this season, was found to have submitted coursework that did not meet Coastal Carolina’s academic honesty standards. The violation was reviewed by the university’s Academic Integrity Board and handled in accordance with institutional policy.
Head coach Kade Vaughn addressed the situation briefly after practice:
“Melvin made a mistake and he’s owning it. He’s a good kid who comes from a strong family and understands the expectations here. He’ll learn from this and move forward the right way. As far as we’re concerned, this is an internal matter that’s been resolved.”
As part of the probation terms, Dwumfour willl remain in good academic standing and retain his redshirt status, be required to complete the university’s Academic Integrity Workshop and maintain weekly progress check-ins with the team’s academic advisor. The team added that should more violations occur, Dwumfour would be facing at least a one game suspension next season.
The program emphasized that Dwumfour’s standing within the team remains unchanged and that he will continue practicing with the scout team during his redshirt year.

It wasn't a touchdown, but it was arguably the play of the game as Tavares Tinker reached into the sky for a one handed grab on 4th and 6 to keep the Chanticleers 15 play, 99 yard go-ahead drive churning.

Gainesville, FL. - It wasn’t pretty, but the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers left Gainesville with what they came for — a win.
Behind another gritty defensive effort and just enough offense to survive, the Chanticleers edged the sixth-ranked Florida Gators 21–20 in a game that ended with more questions than answers — especially for second-year Gators head coach Willie Scruggs.
Scruggs, who has engineered Florida’s turnaround from a one-win disaster to an SEC contender, found himself under fire after opting to kick the extra point rather than go for two following a late touchdown that cut Coastal’s lead to 21–19 with 49 seconds left.
“Heat of the moment decision,” Scruggs said flatly postgame. “It just felt like the move.”
The decision backfired. Florida’s onside kick failed, Justice Spear ripped off a 22-yard run to ice it, and the Gators were left watching Coastal kneel out the clock.
“I was getting ready for overtime, to tell you the truth,” said Coastal head coach Kade Vaughn with a grin. “Not that I doubted the defense — it just felt like that’s where we were headed.”
It nearly got there.
Fredrick Meredith’s roller-coaster season continued with two first-half interceptions, both leading to Florida points. But the sophomore settled down late in the second quarter, finding Tavares Tinker for a touchdown to pull within 13–7 at halftime.
From there, the Chanticleers’ offense sputtered — stalled repeatedly by seven holding penalties and inconsistent throws from Meredith — until the defense flipped the game.
With Florida threatening to extend its 13–7 lead in the closing minute of the third, senior safety A.J. Dwumfour made a leaping interception in the end zone, halting what looked like a sure scoring drive.
“It was the biggest play of the game,” Vaughn said. “If A.J. doesn’t come down with that, I don’t think we’re sitting here at 5–0.”
Pinned at their own one-yard line, Meredith and the offense responded with their best drive of the season — a 15-play, 99-yard masterpiece capped by a fourth-down strike to Carl Kopp from the two-yard line to take a 14–13 lead.
The drive nearly ended earlier when a fourth-and-six pass from Meredith sailed high — until Tavares Tinker made a circus one-handed grab to move the chains.
“After A.J.’s pick, it felt like do-or-die,” Vaughn said. “If we didn’t score there, it was over in my opinion.”
Florida punted on a fourth-and-two deep in its own territory with just under three minutes to go — a conservative decision that proved costly. Two plays later, Spear broke free for a 22-yard touchdown to push the lead to 21–13.
The Gators responded with a late scoring drive, but Scruggs’ choice to kick rather than go for the win sealed Coastal’s escape.
“I haven’t watched the tape yet, but I think Fred’s just trying to make every throw a 75-yard touchdown,” Vaughn said afterward. “When the holding calls pile up, he starts pressing. We’ve talked about it — he’s got to take what the defense gives him.”
Meredith was not made available to reporters postgame — the first time in his Coastal career he’s skipped media availability.
Despite the uneven offensive performance, Coastal Carolina remains unbeaten at 5–0 and in control of its playoff hopes. But another test looms large: a trip to Hard Rock Stadium to face the 10th-ranked Miami Hurricanes (4–1) next week.

After a holding penalty erased a would be 44 yard touchdown pass, Meredith took another shot but Matthew Judge was ready and easily intercepted the lob.

Just when hope seemed lost, AJ Dwumfour rose to the occasion and gave the Chanticleers the spark they needed with a red zone interception.

Terrell Merritt rose up, then absorbed the contact to hold onto the touchdown, but instead of staying on the field for the 2PT conversion, Florida kicked the XP in a one point loss.

Coach Vaughn Parlays Huge Road Win Into 4 New Commitments

Conway, SC. - Just hours after escaping Gainesville with a gritty 21–20 win, Coach Kade Vaughn and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers picked up another victory — this time on the recruiting trail.
Coastal landed four commitments over the weekend, headlined by local product David Heeney, the No. 64 overall prospect in the 2032 class and the 10th-ranked wide receiver nationally.
“It’s always nice to get the homegrown guys,” Vaughn said. “You want to build that connection with the community, and helping local talent stay home in Conway has always been a big part of what we’re building here.”
Heeney might not turn heads at first glance — he’s listed at 5-foot-7, 175 pounds, with average top-end speed — but his film tells a different story. He’s a technician: polished in his releases, sudden in and out of his breaks, and fearless working the middle of the field. Scouts rave about his hands and body control, comparing him to current Chanticleer Tyler Hagg as a reliable third-down weapon who plays much bigger than his frame.
Joining Heeney are two versatile athletes and a rangy safety:
ATH Skylar Lichtensteiger (No. 231 overall) — At 5’10”, 186lbs, Lichtensteiger brings a balanced skill set that Coastal’s staff envisions translating to running back. A natural receiver out of the backfield with fluid acceleration, he’s drawn early comparisons to former Coastal standout Devin Hajrullahu, though he lacks the same breakaway burst. His versatility makes him an intriguing chess piece for new OC Tino Sunseri’s offense.
ATH Russell Bouchard (No. 396 overall) — A 6’1”, 242-pound hybrid linebacker out of Texas, Bouchard fits the mold of Coastal’s recent defensive prototypes. Long, explosive, and physical, he flashes sideline-to-sideline range and is comfortable both in coverage and off the edge. He could develop into the next Anthony Atogwe, with the speed to play safety and the tenacity to attack from the second level.
FS Terrence Bulaga (No. 339 overall) — The 6’0”, 192-pound safety from Maryland is a true ballhawk with elite closing speed and instincts. Bulaga diagnoses plays quickly and isn’t afraid to mix it up in the box, showing refined tackling technique for a high school prospect. The staff believes he could compete early on special teams and grow into a multi-year starter in Tony White’s aggressive secondary.
The four commitments push Coastal’s 2033 recruiting class into the Top 20 nationally, with more decisions looming.
The staff remains locked in on five-star defensive end Shawn Lanning, who is trending toward Georgia but remains in close contact with Coastal’s staff after an official visit in September. Meanwhile, four-star WR Darin Best, another South Carolina native, is finalizing his top three — and sources close to his recruitment indicate Coastal currently leads.
“We’re not done,” Vaughn teased. “Our goal is to keep stacking classes that can compete with anyone in the country — and we’re getting closer to that standard every cycle.”
