What a win  I'm not a fan of Dumfries but I actually like Gaya a lot, should be consider a more traditional left-back and/if Calafiori gets injured. I will probably add him.

I truly hate seeing how good FC has made Arsenal. Disgusting.

Defense needs a massive improvement like you said. Maybe a formation change to help?

I rate Gaya a lot but I hate that he always leaves Valencia in FIFA. Whenever they finish the New Mestalla, they're going to have to bury him inside of it because that man is Valencia through and through.

I have a house rule that I can only use formations the manager I'm using has actually used (so 4-2-3-1 which is what I'm using, 3-4-2-1 and 3-4-3) and I don't know if this team has the chops for three at the back especially on FIFA where it functions pretty poorly :pgdead:

4-2-3-1 is very similar to 4-3-3-attacking, whereas 3-4-3 is akin to 4-3-3-holding (with a defensive midfielder in centre half roll, while on the flank you use attacking wing backs)

I usually decide on the basis of the quality of my opponent whether I'm going with the holding or the attacking formation, but... (very important) when going for holding, I choose neutral or attacking mentality - whereas with the attacking formation I opt for defensive mentality. For me balancing that out, it works as having majority of possession, thus controlling the pace of the game and keeping defensive stability intact.

I know, my good friend, but Palladino doesn't use a 4-3-3 so I won't. It's just a restriction I put on myself to prevent changing to whatever formation works best against the game's AI or changing to exploit game issues. For example, if I was using Pep Guardiola, I'm pretty much only using a 4-3-3. If I rolled out the corpse of Fergie, 4-4-2. I'll change roles and tactics within the structure (and have this season but it's a player quality issue not a tactics issue) but not away from the usual set-up because *most* managers aren't doing that.

Ah, now I get it, you literally copy the persona - that's a nice way of restricting yourself and keep things challenging, I dig that. Do you use your own knowledge, or do you verify with a website such as transfermarket.com ?

I usually play as myself (although Marzec is the family name on the Polish side, IRL I carry a Dutch surname - and I am a die-hard Ajax-fan: 4-3-3 is church at Ajax (literally the club's religion: all teams from the pupils to the seniors apply the same formation), though under Cruijff and Van Gaal (the successful seasons in the late 20th century) it was more of a 3-4-3 or a 3-4-2-1. So I stick to that, no matter what.

My restrictions come in finance: the 20-20 rule (never transfer fees over € 20 million, never salaries above € 20k) if Champions League, but 10-10 if Europa League (or, Conference League but that has not yet happened). Also, as a traditional selling club, my transfer balance always needs to be positive (more transfer value out than in). This restricts me from just buying whatever and whenever I want.

viewtopic.php?p=66034#p66034 That I do :pgdead: This isn't even all of them.

Danimal5981, I search for it before I start between Transfermarkt, YouTube videos, analysis, etc. I've watched old matches before and all :pgdead: Anything that gives me a better idea of how they set their teams up.
