It feels as though the only team the Miami Hurricanes thought could punch them in the face like this was SMU, like they did in the ACC Championship Game. Guess they didn't think it through until Clemson was up 27-13 going into the fourth quarter that maybe these Tigers are for real and they have no answer for their offense? Ben Baity is probably the third best quarterback in the playoffs behind Alonzo Cheeseman and Ben Brown and he proved it, throwing for 255 passing yards and 2 touchdowns on good efficiency, not to mention his eight-yard scamper in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach for Clemson. Quarterback Braylon Burnette is going to want his last game of his collegiate career back, with two costly interceptions thrown.

Fixed! I grabbed the Game Preview template from the last time we played Oklahoma in the CFP. Changed the year, not the team.

#1 SMU 14 10 7 13 44
#5 Oklahoma 3 10 3 3 19

Game Summary

After a season marred with trivial sanctions from the NCAA and recruiting battles that should have been won but were loss, SMU somehow has gotten back to the dance. And they are laughing all the way to the bank. #1 SMU has defeated #5 Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl after a dominant performance that saw the Mustangs force six turnovers with a 44-19 victory.

Sooners quarterback Nick Lopes was terrorized all night long, throwing five costly interceptions to the Mustangs' secondary while their offense was only able to generate one touchdown from All-SEC first-team running back Athya Lucky. They were hardly kept afloat by kicker Quincey Sizer, who scored the remainder of their points.

SMU quarterback Alonzo Cheeseman fared a little bit better, but had an uncharacteric mistake-laden game, throwing two interception despite scoring four touchdowns - three of which were through the air (two to wide receiver Marquis Avant and yet another score to tight end Dwayne Kasay, who is having one hell of a run to finish his collegiate career).

The defense was the story of the night, suffocating Lopes and the Sooners' offense all night long. Tight end Larry Ansah dominated in his one on one matchups, finishing a yard short of a jaw-dropping 200+ yard game, but the Sooners couldn't punch it in the end zone through their constant turnovers.

"We have a lot of things we need to clean up," said head coach Nico Augustine on the field after winning the Orange Bowl. "We know we're so close to what we've been dreaming of all season, what we've been working for. We need to play a perfect game next week, or we won't be worthy of winning a second National title."

College Football Playoffs: Semifinals Review
ESPN Writer

19 44

Player of the Game: CB Jamerson Cotton - 4 tackles, 2 interceptions

Summary
The Mustangs' defense tortured Oklahoma quarterback Nick Lopes all game long, causing six turnovers while routing their way to their second consecutive National Championship berth. Quarterback Alonzo Cheeseman paced the offense well despite his two interceptions, but was able to cruise through the second half thanks to a rock-solid defense that continued their mantra of "bend but don't break". The offense took a punch in the mouth when Cheeseman went down midway through the third quarter, but the quarterback managed to finish the game.

45 42

Player of the Game: QB Ben Baity - 33/46, 428 passing yards, 5 touchdowns, interception, 13 carries, 119 rushing yards

Summary
The Clemson Tigers narrowly beat the Oregon Ducks in what was possibly the most electric game of college football in recent history. The Ducks headed into the second half holding onto a narrow 28-24 lead thanks to quarterback Ben Brown. They opened the second half with a costly interception that set up the comeback train for the Tigers. The two teams continued to battle as hard as they could, but the Tigers continued to outpace the Ducks, scoring two touchdowns to escape with a 45-42 victory.
