Week 7 Preview: at Texas A&M (3-2, 1-1)

Synopsis
The SMU Mustangs are coming off a sorely needed bye week to get things settled after one of the toughest starts to a season a team could have. They dealt with Miami, fended off Texas and TCU, and slipped by Notre Dame and Tennessee. Well on their way to their third consecutive undefeated regular season, the Mustangs take on the Texas A&M Aggies, who are off to a rough start in their own right.

Quarterback Tyrique President has the Aggies out to a hot start with his ability to stretch the field with his impressive arm. He's still getting a hold of the offense, but having an offensive weapon like wide receiver Marquis Soto surely makes things a little bit easier to grasp. Elite Mustangs cornerback Cole Crews will no doubt be matched up in man-on-man situations with Soto, although the Mustangs have steered away from their heavy blitz packages, relying on edge rushers Davon Kamara and Jamerson Beckner to get home early and often.

Speaking of edge rusher, Shaun Stokes will no doubt be putting offensive tackle Ethan Whiteheart to work, as he replaces incumbent starter Terryan Brisby at the left tackle position after he struggled with holding penalties. Brisby's more natural position is on the right side, in which he's projected to cycle in until the team can get some better continuity throughout their offensive line.

Runningback Dwayne Sowells will be returning to the team after an injury knocked him out for the last few weeks. Sowells isn't expected to take back the feature back position just yet, as Brian Volson and Shaq Thomas have been splitting the majority of the rushing attempts in his absence.
