Houston took that chance and won big. Now it's a triple threat for Texas. Luka v Wemby v Houston

DEATH OF BOBBY CREEK, BIRTH OF THE O.G. PT.2

It's been months since the NBA season was over, Bobby Creek's rookie year was in the books, but it wasn't what he had expected his first year to be. Two short stints on two NBA teams before being sent to the G-League. On top of that, another injury, tolling on the body. Morale for Bobby was low, but he wasn't out...

"Alright, alright, Bobby, one more, you got this... Good, good."

"*Hauff, hauff*... Hell man, that last one was the devil... How many was that?"

"You've done fifty leg lifts, honestly think that's enough for today. Seems like your strength has returned to you. How you're feeling?" the trainer asked.

"... I'm feeling pretty okay. We've been at this for what? Two months now?"

"Yeah, usually for athletes, it's about a month on recovering, but I going the extra mile with weighted ankle straps is a bit much, I wouldn't even recommend this level of exercise intensity this early. It's madness."

"I know, I know, I just want to get better, be better. You don't know how much I hate that my body fails on me every time. That's been my life for some time."

"Yeah? Sorry to hear that man. You ever get thoroughly checked out, seeing if there's any underlying issues?"

"Yeah... Osteoarthritis.. I was diagnosed with it a few years back. Everyone recommended that I stop playing sports and do something else. I felt like I was being written off." Bobby spoke as he sat in reflection.

"That sucks man, that's an uphill battle, and one that doesn't end. I'm sorry, Bob."

"Yeah, I know. Thanks. This is why I go so hard, pushing my limits."

"Yeah, but you got to know that's taxing on your body, especially your joints. You want to keep them fit, but not overworked. Your body in the right condition will serve you well before it betrays you. You're taking years off, my man."

"My body has already betrayed me. My legs were the first to go, now my hip... But it's always been my dream to play basketball. It was always my dream to play in the NBA and win a trophy for the city. For the team... For me..."

-The rehab trainer sat there, listening intently.-

"First they said I wasn't good enough, so I got better. Then they said I wasn't strong enough, then I put the work in to get stronger. Then they're excuse was I'm not tall enough. And by some miracle, I got another growth spurt. And now, my body, this vessel, it's telling me I'm not long for this dream I'm chasing... I've had everyone in my ear, in my face, even my own body, telling me to give it up..."

"But you didn't, Bobby. You're still here, working at it."

"And that's because my brain knows me better than anyone else, even my own body. That saying, "you put your mind to it"... Yeah, man. That's all I've been doing."

"... Seriously, Bobby, I admire that. You got a hell of a fighting spirit in you. Take that with you in everything you do."

"I always try, but it's not easy." Bobby responded.

"No, but what's easy ever really worth it?" the trainer asked.

"And that's the drive..."

-As it was their final meeting, at least Bobby had hoped, the two had a extensive talk after completing the session. It wasn't long until Bobby's phone was ringing for a significant call.-

"Hey, Jeff, sorry I missed your call, I had just finished up with rehab. What's up?"

"That's good to hear, how you looking? Back to 100?"

"Yeah man, I'm feeling better than ever. Think I'll take it easy for a day or two and get back on the grind. But I know that's not the real reason why you called. What's up Jeff, got something in the works?"

"Hey, come on, I have some compassion. But yeah, but that's only if you're ready."

"Ready for what?"

"Ready to make some money..."
