SMU has a couple wonky wins and losses. I could see this one being a shootout.

‣ CFB 2025 Regular Season, Week 14 - Gerald J. Ford Stadium, Dallas, Texas
(9-2, 5-2 ACC) #7 Miami Hurricanes at #15 Southern Methodist Mustangs (8-3, 6-1 ACC)

MIA | 0 | 21 | 6 | 11 | 38
SMU | 7 | 3 | 7 | 0 | 17

Miami topples No. 15 SMU in convincing 38-17 win to advance to ACC Championship Game
The term game manager might be considered a slur to some but for Miami quarterback Emory Williams, he wears it like a badge of honor.

Williams was uber efficient against SMU, completing his first eleven pass attempts to dig Miami out of an early deficit to the Mustangs and hang on to clinch a spot in the ACC Championship Game with a 38-17 victory on Saturday.

"I just try to get our guys the ball in space," said Williams, who finished the game with an eighty-five percent completion rate and 221 of Miami's 222 passing yards coming after the catch, "Once we have the lead, we can lean on our running game and let our pass rushers get after the opposing quarterbacks so for me, it's all about managing the game."

The Mustang made it interesting with an early 7-0 lead but it was all Miami after that who scored three straight touchdowns, including two touchdown passes from Williams, and a pick-six from Dontae Balfour to begin the rout.

SMU's defense improved in the second half, forcing Miami to kick three field goals but the SMU offense was unable to finish drives with Preston Stone throwing three interceptions. Stone was sacked twice by Miami's Rueben Bain, who set the school and conference record for most sacks in a single season with 18.5 and counting. The NCAA record is 24, set by Arizona State's Terrell Suggs in 2002.

With the win, Miami will play Virginia Tech, SMU, Florida State or Georgia Tech in a rematch depending on the outcome of the Virginia Tech - Virginia game and the ensuing tie breaker situations.
