SN: I honestly didn't feel like playing today, but pushed through to advanced the storyline. We move.

Trey finally getting some shine - I haven't peeped the earlier updates to see if he had any other tuddies but after calling out QB1 he definitely got his fair share of looks. And needed em too to keep the loss column blank

Chapter V: Boys Being Boys Pt.III

The following week came and went like smoke. Huskies packed up, took the trip east to College Park, Maryland. The Terrapins came in ranked #24, thought they had something waiting. But Dale had a chip on his shoulder, and Trey had been barking all week. So when game time hit, Dale put his pride aside and fed him. Again and again. Nine catches. Three tuddies. Trey was cooking DBs like they were backyard ribs. The Huskies scraped out a close one, 34–29, still undefeated, five wins stacked and bowl-eligible in reach.

Back in the visiting locker room it was chaos — sweaty pads hitting the floor, helmets clattering, speakers blasting, boys laughing loud. That “we still standing” type energy. And right dead center? Trey. Five-eight on a good day, but talking like he was ten feet tall. Flexing, strutting, shouting over everybody like the win was all his doing. Waving his arms, pointing to himself.

Y’all saw that shit! Nine grabs, three tuds. Man, them Terps DBs softer than hotel pillows!” Trey was on one, eating up the attention.

Dale slid past him, eyes cold, lips pressed. He paused just long enough to cut Trey a glance, then kept walking, dumping his pads at his cubicle.

That moment didn’t slip by Trey. He cut through the noise and followed. “Yo, Dale,” he barked, his voice pitched up. “What’s your deal, man? You can’t even look at me after that live show I just put on?”

Dale peeled off his shoulder pads, calm as smoke. “Man, I’m trippin’,” he said flat, clapping Trey on the shoulder before hitting him with a dap. “Congrats, big dawg. You did your thing out there.”

Trey grinned wide, flexing his biceps like he was posing for cameras. “Damn straight. Skewered that Maryland secondary like a ribeye. Who else do it like me?” He laughed, but Dale didn’t crack with him. That laugh died quick. Trey squinted at him. “Aight, none of that frontin’ tho, Wojack. Why you been so quiet the whole game? You and me got a vibe. You trippin’.”

Dale smirked, shook his head. “What you mean? You did your thing. I had a sloppy ass day, but we pulled through. Our boy Audric—” Dale slapped Audric’s shoulder, who was peeling tape off nearby, “—he came up big on the final drive. But you, Trey? You was bread and butter in that red zone. You the X-factor.”

For a second Trey just studied him, trying to see if it was real. Then his mouth curled into a smirk. “You playin’. Man, you sound lovesick. My dawg Dale got a football crush on lil’ ol’ me!” He shoved Dale’s arm, trying to make it light.

Dale chuckled low. “Nah. Just givin’ props where it’s due. I’ll be the bigger man—I fucked up, no cap. I shoulda been looking your way the last few weeks.”

Trey folded his arms, skeptical. “You apologizin’ to me? Outta everybody? Sheeeit. Big dawg Dale Denton sayin’ sorry to lil’ Trey Lincoln? Damn, you done grown on me.”

“Yeah,” Dale shrugged, eyes calm. “Took me a week to realize it. You was right—I was lettin’ the team down not involving you, O.G.”

That softened Trey, made him crack a genuine smile. “I appreciate that, bro. For real. We gotta have each other’s backs.”

They dapped up just as Coach Danielson walked in, game ball in hand. “Congratulations, Trey. You did a real bang-up job out there this week. I wanna see more of that, no questions.” He clapped Trey’s shoulder and moved on.

The room roared again, teammates patting Trey up. He posed with the ball, biceps tight, grinning like a cover boy. Then he leaned in close to Dale, whispering just loud enough for ears nearby. “See, not only did I help you win, I saved your dating life too. Chicks can’t resist a baller. Especially Addy, you feel me?” He winked.

Dale’s jaw tightened, but he slapped Trey’s chest playfully. “Lemme see the game ball real quick, sign it for you as a memento. New beginnings, you know?”

Trey beamed, handed it over. “Word! That’s what I’m talkin’ about. Hang this shit in my dorm, front and center.”

Dale dug through his bag for a marker and something else in particular, smirk hard on his face. When he came back, he tossed the ball to Trey. Only this time it was laced with a pair of women’s panties tied around it. Addy’s. Had a little note on the football.

"Yours Truly, Addy & Dale"

The whole room stilled. Trey caught it, blinked once, then twice. His eyes bugged, rage flooding in. “The fuck is this?” he shouted, ripping the panties free and holding them up in front of everybody. His voice cracked with fury. “You really tryin’ to clown me with my girl, bro?!”

Dale tilted his head, expression cold. “Your girl? She was just my turn. What—you forgot the bet? Hundred bucks says I smash and bring receipts. There’s your receipt.”

Gasps went through the room. Round two.

Trey’s face twisted, veins popping in his neck as he stepped forward, fists tight. “You two-bit muthafucka… you think this shit is funny? This ain’t about no fucking bet!”

Big Zeke cut in fast, shoving a hand between them. “Ayo! Chill the fuck out! Both y’all!”

Trey was visibly shaking.

“Man, fuck you and your stupid ass bet." Dale spat. "Always thinkin’ you bigger than the homies. You lucky Zeke right here.”

Trey sneered at Dale, leaning just enough to hiss back, “Lucky?! Fuckin' snakes don't deserve luck, motherfucker!” Trey’s chest heaved as he ripped free of Zeke, grabbed his bag and hoodie, and stormed out the locker room. The panties smacked back into Dale’s chest before he left. “You a pussy, Denton! Mark my words—this ain’t over!”

Zeke stood there a moment, eyes locked on Dale’s stone face. He shook his head and followed after Trey.

Coach Danielson stormed back in, face red. “The hell is going on in here?! We doing this again!?”

Silence. No one dared speak. A few eyes flicked to Dale, but not one player opened his mouth. Only the sound of velcro straps ripping and cleats clunking filled the air.

The beef wasn’t just brewing anymore. It was lit.
