Chanticleers Continue To Stack Talent With 8 More Pledges

Conway, SC. - The arrests keep piling up in Conway, but so do the commitments.

ACC officials have already slapped Coastal Carolina with a five-scholarship reduction in the wake of multiple felony arrests inside the program and are reportedly weighing further penalties. Yet on the recruiting trail, the turbulence has done little to slow momentum.

“Why does that affect me? I know what I’m going to Conway to do — and that’s WIN, BABY,” said Morgan Briggs, the No. 13 overall recruit and one of the nation’s top wideouts, after pledging to the Chanticleers over the weekend.

Briggs headlined a wave of seven commitments that followed Coastal’s rout of Georgia Tech. The group includes: DE Russ DeVan (No. 27 overall), MLB Stephen Lynn (No. 53), Quincey Lemon (No. 79), WR George Ofodile (No. 81), T Prince Keke (No. 130), FS Steven Middlebrooks (No. 157), and G Dustin McKie (No. 169)

The haul vaulted the Chanticleers to No. 3 in the early 2031 class rankings, behind only Georgia (14 signees) and Ohio State (15), and placed them alongside Georgia and Alabama as the only schools with multiple five-star commitments.

While both Middlebrooks and DeVan had been on the board since the summer, multiple sources indicated Coastal’s push intensified after the arrests of safety Sean Maggio and defensive end Richard Hatch. “They wanted immediate replacements for the talent they just lost,” one source said.

The Chants still have two top-100 targets left: QB Koren Moses (No. 33), where Coastal is the clear favorite, and DT Evan Hodges (No. 65), where LSU and Tulane hold commanding leads. Moses’ decision could come within the next two weeks.

“They were late on Hodges after Antoine Michele flipped to Georgia,” the source added. “Moses, though — that one’s Coastal’s to lose.”

CB Emanuel Abrams Inactive For Week 10 Showdown Vs Duke

Conway, SC. - Coastal Carolina cornerback Emanuel Abrams will be inactive for the Chanticleers’ Week 10 matchup against ACC rival Duke due to a violation of the program’s code of conduct policy.

Sources close to the program indicate that Abrams missed several mandatory tutoring sessions assigned after his grades approached the minimum required GPA. The program emphasized that this action is consistent with established policies designed to maintain academic accountability among student-athletes.

Chanticleers head coach Kade Vaughn declined to discuss the specifics of Abrams’ one-game suspension, stating only:

“He knows how to improve his standing and is actively taking steps to remedy the situation he’s found himself in.”

Abrams has been a contributor in the secondary this season and is expected to return to the lineup once he fulfills the program’s requirements.

Durham, NC. - The Blue Devils opened their clash with the No. 3 Chanticleers on a crisp five-play, 75-yard drive capped by a one-yard RPO touchdown from Isaac Wallner. From there, it was all teal.

Coastal ripped off 56 unanswered points behind another Heisman-worthy performance from senior running back Devin Hajrullahu. He broke loose for a 60-yard score on the Chants’ second possession and had already eclipsed 200 all-purpose yards with four touchdowns by halftime.

By game’s end, Hajrullahu’s line was staggering: 200 rushing yards, 113 receiving yards, and five touchdowns — his fifth straight outing with at least 200 yards and multiple scores.

“People balked when I compared him to Reggie Bush,” head coach Kade Vaughn said. “Who’s balking now?”

Coastal’s defense matched the fireworks, rebounding from Duke’s opening march with three sacks, two takeaways, and a shutout the rest of the way.

The Chanticleers (10-0) now return to Conway for a top-25 rivalry showdown with No. 24 Liberty (9-0), which has yet to beat Vaughn since his arrival.
