Madden 26 Saints Franchise Week 1
The Kellen Moore era in New Orleans has officially begun. The former Philadelphia Eagles Offensive Coordinator was recently hired as the new head coach for the Saints. He joins an aging roster with a questionable at best QB room. Moore is known for being a QB whisperer of sorts, so it will be interesting to see how he gets the best out of 2nd round rookie Tyler Shough. Shough will have a lot of doubters, and Moore is hoping to harness that into motivation for his 25-year-old signal caller. Going into New Orleans' Week 1 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, the offense is missing a key contributor in Right Tackle Taliese Fuaga to Turf Toe. He'll only miss this one week, so no worries for his long-term health. The defense is missing 3rd string Strong Safety Terrell Burgess, which shouldn't impact the gameplan too much.
Week 1 - Arizona Cardinals 24-27 New Orleans Saints
The Kellen Moore and Tyler Shough era in New Orleans kicked off with a win at home. Tyler Shough was 23/30 for 205 yards in today's game, and led a game-winning drive to set up 3rd year Kicker Blake Grupe for a 43 yard field goal to win the game at the buzzer. Grupe was 2-2 in todays game. Alvin Kamara was strong in the run game, going for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries. Kendre Miller was 5 for 16 with a touchdown, but nearly cost the team the game with a fumble on the 22 yard line with 1 minute left. On the next play, Kyler Murray scampered for a score and the game was tied at 24. Thankfully, Shough came through and gets his first career win. Shough scrambled for 47 yards on 6 attempts, as well. In the air, Shough played it safe, with his two leading receivers both in yards and receptions were Taysom Hill and Alvin Kamara. Hill caught 6 passes for 79 yards, and Kamara caught 4 for 27. Chris Olave struggled to get open against rookie corner Will Johnson, and only caught 3 passes for 22 yards. Rookie Tackle Xavier Truss performed admirably in relief of Fuaga, not allowing a sack on 32 dropbacks. On defense, Justin Reid caught an errant Kyler Murray throw, giving us our first and only turnover of the season thus far. DeMario Davis, Carl Granderson, and Cameron Jordan all recorded a sack in this one. Granderson and Ugo Amadi also forced fumbles, but neither were recovered by the Saints. Rookie Punter Kai Kroeger got off to a good start in his career, with both of his punts being inside the 20 yard line, one of them inside the 7.

Madden 26 Saints Franchise Week 2
Week 2 Preview
In Week 2, we face the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners have one of the best coaches in the NFL in Kyle Shanahan, as well as one of the best rosters in the NFL. They have a high powered offense, and have one of the best linebackers in the league in Fred Warner. Besides him and Nick Bosa on defense, there's a lot to be desired, especially in the secondary. Their highest rated Cornerback is Deommodore Lenoir, the 5th year corner out of Oregon. Besides him, it's a lot of developing players, and I could see Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed getting past these guys pretty easily. Shaheed's speed should be especially devastating to this secondary, as their fastest corner is Lenoir, who will likely be matched onto Olave. Their front seven has 2 key players, but besides that, it's a lot of young talent and depth veterans. We should have a good time running the ball today, so that will be the gameplan going in.
SF Top Performers
Brock Purdy - 16/23, 208 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 3 rushes, 11 rushing yards
Christian McCaffrey - 14 rushes, 57 rushing yards, 1 reception, 17 receiving yards
Brandon Aiyuk - 4 receptions, 74 receiving yards, 1 touchdown
(R) Mykel Williams - 10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, .5 sack
(R) Alfred Collins - 7 tackles, 1 sack
Kendall Fuller - 7 tackles, .5 sack
SF Injuries
Strong Safety Ji-Ayir Brown - Turf Toe - Week-Week

Good start getting past the Cardinals Week 1. Seems like you can do work in both facets of the offense with Kamara.
The 49ers are going to be one hell of a test though.

Madden 26 Saints Franchise Week 2
(0-1) San Francisco 49ers 25-20 (1-0) New Orleans Saints
The story of today's game was all about discipline and risk taking. Not in the good ways, either. Tyler Shough turned the ball over five times, throwing two interceptions and fumbling the ball three times. Overall, he was 17/30 for 146 yards in the air, but any game that a quarterback makes this many mistakes is a bad game. We were down early in this one, down 19-0 with less than 10 seconds to go in the 2nd quarter. Alvin Kamara broke off a long 98 yard run, on a play where we were just trying to take it into half time. He only ran 8 times for 144 yards, as he was battling a shoulder injury after a big Fred Warner hit. Chris Olave finally got targets this game, catching 5 of the 8 balls that came his way. The three misses were two of the interceptions, and a great play by Lenoir to break up a deep ball. He went 5 for 41 yards. Trey Palmer returned a kick for 92 yards to start the second half, and kicker Blake Grupe hit two chip shots to make it a 1 point lead going into last 4 minutes in the fourth. By this time, Shough hadn't thrown an interception, but that was soon to change. He threw a pick with 3:37 remaining, and Kendall Fuller returned it to the 3 yard line, where Brian Robinson (McCaffrey got hurt in this one) scored on a slip screen. With less than a minute remaining, he threw another interception, this time a batted pass that landed in Lenoir's hands. After all the effort that our special teams and defense put in today, where we scored a return touchdown, hit 2 field goals, and forced 2 turnovers of our own, we ended up dropping this one, and moving to 1-1. Both teams ended up suffering long term injuries in this game, with us losing Brandin Cooks for 3-7 weeks with an abdominal tear. I know the IR is fairly broken in Madden, but I'd prefer to have the extra roster spot, so he's going on the IR for (I believe) the next 8 weeks. With the extra roster spot, we signed rookie Tight End Thomas Fidone II out of Nebraska, who was drafted by the Giants this past off-season.

I've looked around the boards, and I think I'm going to stick with text only updates for the time being. I don't have the editing skills nor the creativity to go as in depth as most of y'all! As for Shough, he's going to start his whole rookie season, barring injury. After that, I'll reassess. I think that the weak draft class quarterbacks are going to be worse than Shough will be by his second year, so I'm not sure what the plan is. As a Jets fan, all I know is that Aaron Rodgers will not be playing for the Saints next year.Caesar wrote: ↑11 Oct 2025, 15:29Welcome to the board. Always good to get some new blood in. Thank you! I'm excited to use Kamara in this first season, but at 32, I doubt he'll be back next year. As you can see, we threw away a winnable one vs San Francisco.Captain Canada wrote: ↑11 Oct 2025, 15:31Good start getting past the Cardinals Week 1.
