Fred Meredith got blasted on what would be his 4th touchdown pass of the 2nd quarter alone, hanging in the pocket just long enough to get the ball to Tavares Tinker for the TD, and was all smiles after as Coastal rolled to a 61-20 demolition on The Teal.

Conway, SC. - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers shook off a sluggish start and turned a tight first quarter into a rout, torching the West Virginia Mountaineers 61–20 behind a 31-point second quarter blitz that left little doubt who runs the ACC’s new era.

Early on, though, it looked like Coastal might be in for a fight. Their opening drive appeared dead before a roughing-the-punter call bailed them out on 4th down, only for the series to stall and end in a field goal. The real blow came moments later when QB Fredrick Meredith was briefly knocked out of the game on a missed late hit—an officiating no-call that instantly drew the ire of Head Coach Kade Vaughn.

“Letter’s already written. It’s in the mail, best believe it,” Vaughn said postgame, clearly fuming. “You want to fine me for words? Fine. But don’t put my guys in danger because you’re too scared to make the right call.”

It’s the latest in a long-running tension between Vaughn and the ACC officiating office, but on the field, his quarterback handled it his own way.

“They done woke the lion up,” laughed Meredith afterward.

And wake up he did. The sophomore QB exploded for four second-quarter touchdowns, including a gutsy 53-yard strike to Tavares Tinker where Meredith absorbed a brutal hit and still managed to signal “touchdown” from the turf, grinning ear to ear.

By halftime, it was 31–3 Coastal, and the Mountaineers were reeling. The Chanticleers defense dominated the trenches, holding West Virginia to just 112 total yards in the first half and not allowing a touchdown until the backups were in and the lead had ballooned to 40–3.

Late in the fourth, both Justice Spear and David Agudosi broke off long touchdown runs that turned a rout into an outright humiliation. Despite some sideline chatter about running up the score, WVU head coach Matt Rhule wasn’t making excuses.

“They’re running the ball in the fourth, not chucking it deep,” Rhule said postgame. “If we can’t make the tackle, that’s on us. Gotta take a long look in the mirror.”

Meredith finished the day 28/36 for 373 yards and five touchdowns, with one interception. Tavares Tinker had a career day, hauling in five catches for 190 yards and three scores, while Spear and Agudosi combined for over 200 yards on the ground.

With the win, Coastal Carolina improves to 11–0, setting the stage for a massive Senior Night showdown next week against Florida State at Brooks Stadium—one more test before the Chanticleers prepare for their 2nd straight ACC Championship Game tilt.

That exchange came less than a month after Vaughn’s on-field confrontation with Miami head coach Mario Cristobal following Coastal’s 45–13 victory in Week 6, where the two coaches exchanged heated words before being separated at midfield.

ACC Issues Second Fine to Coastal’s Kade Vaughn Following Renewed Officiating Comments

Conway, SC. - Just one week after being fined for previous comments deemed “unsportsmanlike and detrimental to the image of ACC officiating,” Coastal Carolina head coach Kade Vaughn has once again found himself in the conference’s disciplinary crosshairs.

On Monday morning, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced it has levied a second $75,000 fine against Vaughn and the Coastal Carolina football program following remarks made in the aftermath of Saturday’s 61–20 win over West Virginia. During his postgame press conference Vaughn, visibly frustrated by a late hit on QB Fredrick Meredith that briefly knocked him out of the contest, quipped:

“Letter’s already written. It’s in the mail, best believe it. You want to fine me for words? Fine. But don’t put my guys in danger because you’re too scared to make the right call.”

The ACC cited the statement as “a direct and repeated challenge to the integrity of officiating crews,” adding that Vaughn’s pattern of public remarks has “failed to align with the league’s expectations of decorum and respect.”

In the same release, the conference issued an official warning that “further violations of the ACC Sportsmanship Policy by Coach Vaughn or members of the Coastal Carolina football staff may result in suspension.”

According to multiple sources within the Coastal athletic department, the latest disciplinary action has reignited growing friction between university leadership and athletic director Chance Miller, who once again opposed issuing the fine at the institutional level.

Miller, who previously clashed with Coastal’s compliance liaison and university president over similar disciplinary measures earlier this month, reportedly argued that “repeatedly bending to external pressure” from the ACC was undermining Coastal’s ability to project confidence and autonomy amid its meteoric national rise.

However, the university’s compliance office and president overruled Miller’s objections, signing off on the ACC’s recommended penalty late Sunday night. A source described the final decision as “tense but inevitable,” given the league’s clear signal that continued noncompliance could result in harsher penalties or even postseason repercussions.

While the ACC declined to comment beyond its official statement, one conference official privately noted that “the leash is short now” when it comes to Vaughn’s behavior — a sentiment reportedly echoed by several university administrators who have grown weary of his public feuds with opposing coaches and officiating crews.

Vaughn, for his part, has yet to address the new fine publicly and is not expected to do so until his next media availability later this week. Those close to the program described the head coach as “annoyed but unsurprised,” with one staffer adding, “He’s been waiting for this shoe to drop since the first fine. He knew they’d be watching.”

With the Chanticleers still unbeaten and marching toward a second consecutive College Football Playoff berth, the tension between the ACC, Coastal leadership, and their outspoken head coach continues to simmer — setting the stage for what could be another turbulent December in Conway.

Tyrone Acker To Miss Season Finale Due To Family Emergency

Conway, SC. - Defensive tackle Tyrone Acker was expected to return from a three-game suspension for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers’ Senior Night matchup against Florida State, but his comeback has been delayed for personal reasons.

Head coach Kade Vaughn announced Thursday that Acker will take a leave of absence to return home to Oceanside, California, to be with his family.

“Tyrone is taking some time away to be with his loved ones,” Vaughn said. “Football can wait — family comes first.”

Sources close to the program confirmed that Acker’s father suffered a major stroke earlier this week.

Acker is in his final season of eligibility with Coastal Carolina after spending four years at Oregon before transferring ahead of the 2032 campaign.

The Chanticleers close out their regular season in Week 12 before taking a bye in Week 13, giving Acker additional time to rejoin the team ahead of the ACC Championship Game, according to Vaughn.

Conway, SC. - Saturday night in Conway was meant to be Tobias Gallimore’s storybook homecoming. The former Coastal Carolina quarterback — who spent four years with the Chanticleers but never claimed the coveted QB1 — returned to Brooks Stadium as Florida State’s starter, eager to prove how far he’d come since transferring out in 2031.

But if Gallimore had the date circled, so did Manu Filimoeatu.

The senior linebacker and ex-Seminole made sure his old team left bruised and beaten, delivering a career performance that shredded Florida State’s game plan. Filimoeatu finished with three sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a safety — all while setting the tone for a Coastal defense that swarmed from the opening whistle.

And if Filimoeatu wasn’t the problem, cornerback Mike Momah certainly was. The senior standout, widely regarded as the nation’s top cover corner, intercepted Gallimore three times — including two on his first three throws — and anchored a secondary that feasted all night.

By the time it was over, Gallimore limped off Coastal’s teal turf with six total turnovers (four interceptions, two lost fumbles), five sacks, and a safety on his ledger.

Meanwhile, the quarterback who once beat him out kept rolling. Fredrick Meredith turned in another efficient performance, completing 81% of his passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns. Justice Spear added 96 rushing yards and a pair of scores, while David Agudosi continued his breakout season with 159 total yards (50 rushing, 109 receiving) and a touchdown of his own.

The 50-14 rout capped a near-perfect regular season for Kade Vaughn’s Chanticleers, whose only real tests came on the road at Florida and at home against Clemson. Now, Coastal will take a well-earned bye during rivalry weekend before preparing for a high-stakes rematch with the Tigers in the ACC Championship Game.

Gallimore was able to leverage a big punt return into the only touchdown toss of the contest for the former Chanticleer to salvage a sliver of pride.

Vaughn just loves to give us money away...Winning allows you to get away with alot of things but at some point you got to wonder if Coach Vaughn's mouth is going to say something this checkbook can't pay.
