San Antonio Spurs vs. Phoenix Suns
Game 4 Overreaction

Devin Booker scored forty-five points, including twenty-two in the first quarter, but it's still not enough
Image
Devin Booker scored twenty-two of Phoenix's 36 points in the first quarter only to be nursing a narrow four point lead. In the second quarter, Booker would score just two points as the blowout began, reasserting a common theme in the San Antonio Spurs' series against the Phoenix Suns' despite Booker's heroic efforts: it's simply not enough.

While Booker continues to carry the load offensively for Phoenix, it was scoring by committee for the Spurs as De'Aaron Fox led the team in scoring in the first quarter (12), Tre Johnson, Lonzo Ball and Devin Vassell were tied in the second (5), and in the third quarter, Stephon Castle took over with fourteen points. Nursing a double-digit lead, Victor Wembanyama served as the closer with twelve of his twenty-one points coming in the fourth quarter as the Spurs sealed their 126-106 win over the Suns to take the commanding 3-1 series lead.

Zion Williamson has arrived
After a quiet start to the series, averaging just seven points per game, Williamson led the Spurs in scoring with 32 points, five points and five rebounds. San Antonio force fed Williamson early and often with seven points in the first quarter and coming out of the half, Williamson had another big quarter with thirteen points on nine field goal attempts.

By the second half, the Suns were forced to double team Williamson when he was in the paint which led to open shots for others, particularly Wembanyama who had some open looks in the fourth quarter that he wasn't getting earlier in the game.

It's a scary proposition to think that as high scoring as San Antonio's offense has been in the playoffs, it's been without Williamson making much of an impact but if he can continue being aggressive both in transition and in the halfcourt, backing down Kevin Durant and Grayson Allen equally, its tough to see anyone stopping this Spurs offense.

Storyline to watch in Game 5
Does San Antonio have the killer instinct? The Spurs came out super aggressive in Game 2 after dropping Game 1 at home and were equally aggressive in the two games in Phoenix, wanting to secure home court back for the rest of the series. Now that the series is largely in hand, does a young San Antonio team perhaps lose that edge and come out a bit flat against a desperate Phoenix team or do they go for the kill and end the series in five?

I'm being more aggressive in looking for him on his cutting plays. It does lead to higher turnovers but when he gets rolling to the rim, hard to stop him
