Florida State Doesn't Have What it Takes to Knock Off USF in Tallahassee
It's become common practice now. The South Florida Bulls get off to a slow start, fall down early in the game due to turnovers and then the defense takes over and Jed White shows why he's the favorite to win the Heisman in a few weeks.
It was no different this time around as the Bulls came back from an early 17-7 deficit to beat the Florida State Seminoles 42-20 on Saturday in Tallahassee.
The Seminoles had a chance to go up two touchdowns but once USF's defense was able to figure out their outside running scheme, it forced Florida State to kick a field goal. The Bulls would score back to back touchdowns with White running into the endzone standing up and had another opportunity before the end of the half to extend their lead but White fumbled on the one-yard line as he tried to power his way inside.
Following a long drive that resulted in another field goal for Florida State, White made amends, breaking off a run for 23-yards and the score to extend their lead. After an interception by his defense, he found Darius Downs in the endzone for a 19-yard touchdown on an overthrow to Vincent Everett.
Everett, a Mackey finalist, had eleven receptions for 178 yards and two touchdowns.

White Breaks School Record for Passing Touchdowns in 59-34 Win Over Gators
After a couple of games where USF found themselves down early and had to rally back, they decided to make it easy on themselves and dominate from their first drive.
USF QB Jed White scored on a 56-yard run during the team's first possession, his first of many touchdowns in the Bulls 59-34 win over Florida on Saturday.
The Bulls wrapped up conference play in impressive fashion, scoring twenty four points in less than eight minutes in the second quarter. Florida's offense tried to keep up but in the end, it was another Heisman worthy performance from White who in the process broke the school record for most passing touchdowns in a single season with his 17-yard pass to true freshman Andrew Rivas.
It was White's 39th passing touchdown of the season, not to be outdone by his now twenty one touchdowns on the ground.
