Raiders lose two more starters in center Cesar Ruiz, defensive tackle Byron Young for the rest of the season
A week removed from losing two receivers in Bo Melton and Mario Williams, the Raiders lose some more firepower on both offense and defense with center Cesar Ruiz and defensive tackle Byron Young heading to IR with their respective groin and abdomen injury.

Ruiz has started every game at center this season as he made the move from playing exclusively guard while with the New Orleans Saints prior to signing with Las Vegas this offseason.

It's been a mixed bag with Ruiz who has struggled down the stretch in the past few weeks, bringing his PFF grade down to 64.7 after having a 80 PFF grade in the first quarter of the season. The Raiders signed free agent Trey Hill to be Lamont Gaillard's backup.

Young has played 352 snaps this season, primarily in the team's 3-4 base defense with 13 tackles and six tackles for loss on the season along with two sacks. The team promoted Nesta Jade Silvera to their active roster from the practice squad.

they were 5-1 at some point too, leading the division. this feels like a "get right" game for them though since I smoked them in the earlier game :fml:

‣ NFL 2024 Regular Season, Week 16 - Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada
(7-7) Denver Broncos at Las Vegas Raiders (6-8)

Danger Russ leads Broncos comeback over Raiders after Drake Maye injury
Russell Wilson has had a tough few years -- outside of the millions being deposited into his bank account -- between his ugly breakup with the Seattle Seahawks and now with this third head coach in three years with the Denver Broncos, losing the starting job to a rookie in Drake Maye.

With Maye injured, Denver turned to their veteran backup in the fourth quarter who helped the Broncos score 24 points in the final ten minutes of their game against Las Vegas to beat the Raiders 38-34 on Sunday thanks to Charlie Grant's game winning 49-yard field goal with nineteen seconds left.

Trailing 24-14, Wilson filled in for the injured Maye with ten minutes remaining and completed a 22-yard pass to Greg Dulcich to set up Javonte Williams' one-yard touchdown run. Raiders quarterback Justin Fields would throw an interception on the next play from scrimmage which led to a 21-yard touchdown pass to Greg Dulcich two plays later to take the lead. If that wasn't hectic enough, freshly signed Tyquan Thornton would return the ensuing kickoff 102-yards to re-take the lead with 7:41 remaining.

The game settled down with Las Vegas' defense forcing a punt and the Raiders having a chance to put the game away after an 18-yard run by Fields to get the ball on the Denver 33-yard line but the drive would stall out, forcing the Raiders to kick a field goal to make it 34-28 with four minutes remaining.

Danger Russ would strike again on the next drive, hooking up with Tim Patrick for the 58-yard touchdown on third and fifteen to take a one-point lead following the extra point. A sack on third down would force the Raiders to go it with the deep pass to Tre Tucker falling incomplete. The Raiders defense would force a three-and-out but it allowed the Broncos to kick in a field goal to make it a four point game.

With just 20 seconds left and one timeout, Fields was able to find Tory Horton for a 61-yard completion but from the 17-yard line with no timeouts left and just four seconds, the pass to Horton would be batted down to preserve the Broncos win.

i didn't realize how many plays i had ran until after the game :camdead:

we seem to have defense fixed at the right time with games against Denver, Cincinnati and Atlanta left. Cincinnati is the real test!
