South Florida Bulls Win 31-20 Against Iowa Hawkeyes
Kirk Ferentz has built his program at Iowa brick by brick, looking far and wide across the Midwest for hidden gems. Malcolm Francois, on the other hand, dips his hand into the talent rich area that is south Florida and brings them to Tampa.

Travis Hughes is one of those talent rich kids and on Saturday, the former five-star recruit picked off two passes in the fourth quarter to seal the Bulls 31-20 win over the Hawkeyes.

Fellow five-stars Andrew Vincent and William Stone helped break the game open with Stone setting up Gerald Mitchell's one-yard run with two catches and a big run on second down before being pushed out of bounds at the one-yard line. On the next drive, it was Andrew Vincent who caught a swing pass and took it 38-yards to the endzone to make it 28-20 with 4:37 left in the third quarter.

The Bulls defense took care of the rest with Hughes intercepting Joe Dawson twice in the final quarter, one of them coming in the red zone.

Notre Dame Takes Early Lead But Falls Short in OT to USF
Akin to Stephen Curry turning around immediately in celebration after launching a three-pointer from the moon, USF head coach Malcolm Francois turned off his headset after dialing up what would be the final play of the game.

"I knew Willie [Stone] was going to score," said Francois in the post-game presser, "I wanted to hear the roar of the stadium and I can't lie, it was pretty damn loud."

Stone was able to beat the Notre Dame defense to the corner, following his pulling guards into the endzone for the game-winning, 16-yard touchdown run in overtime to upset #3 Notre Dame 30-24.

The Irish had jumped out to an early 21-0 lead thanks to a touchdown on their first possession, a pick six and a botched option play which resulted in Notre Dame picking up the loose ball and bringing it out to the 3-yard line, setting up an easy three-yard touchdown run.

The Bulls, however, refused to go down.

"We had to just check ourselves," said USF DE Stephen Hill, who broke a school record with his five sack performance, "They really only scored on us once so we knew defensively, we could shut them down."

USF came roaring back with three straight scoring drives in the second quarter while the defense went to work. The Bulls would take the lead with 6:03 left in the third quarter but Notre Dame was able to tie the game even with starting quarterback Junior Garner leaving the game with an injury in the fourth. Garner didn't have much success before his injury, being intercepted three times in the second half and only throwing for 66 yards.

Four-star DT William Levine commit to Bulls over Seminoles, Gators
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider

The South Florida Bulls continue to improve their front-seven with a commitment from Orlando area defensive tackle William Levine.

Levine is a four-star prospect that chose the Bulls over Florida State and Florida. Alabama was also involved in the recruitment as was Florida. He visited campus this past weekend along with another fellow defensive tackle in James Faulk who is the sixth ranked defensive tackle in the country. Local four-star prospect Danny Love was also on campus as was five-star tight end Vincent Everett and quarterback Jay Jackson.

The coaching staff feels fairly confident that they'll be able to land Faulk and Love to form one of their better classes from a front-seven perspective.

Listed at six-foot-four and 292 pounds, Levine fits the build in what the Bulls have liked in their defensive tackles. They've opted to go for longer, bigger bodies such as Josh Brown [6'5", 293lbs] a few cycles ago and last cycle in Gary Griffin who is six-foot-six and 265 pounds.

Levine is limited athletically but if the Bulls do stay in the 3-3-5 scheme that defensive coordinator Dave Doeren brought over or any three-man fronts, he has enough athleticism to be effective as a nose tackle. Should the Bulls go back to an even front, Levine might have his work cut out for him as a two-gap player.

The South Florida Bulls Inch Past Oklahoma Sooners, 31-24
The first football game James Pittman remembers watching was the 2007 Fiesta Bowl when Boise State pulled off the upset of Oklahoma. Pittman, a Dallas, Texas native, would grow up a Texas Longhorn fan. It's only fitting that the best performance of his career came against Oklahoma.

Pittman threw for a career high 362 yards and four touchdowns -- with no interceptions -- as South Florida was able to hold off the late Sooner rally to win 31-24.

The Texas native threw three first half touchdowns to jump USF out to an early 24-7 lead but Oklahoma did not wander. Back-to-back fumbles on drives to end the second quarter and open the third quarter allowed Oklahoma to keep the Bulls from adding more points and also helped them make it a ten point game. It didn't last very long when Pittman was able to suck in the Sooners defense on a fake jet sweep and found fullback Terrence Holland on a wheel route in the endzone wide open.

The fourth quarter belonged to the Sooners until it didn't. They scored on back-to-back drives, aided by a USF fumble. The Sooners got the ball with two minutes left in the game but Ryan Evans put too much air on the ball when throwing it to Chris Fontenot, allowing linebacker Montrell Jennings to undercut the route and pick it off to seal the victory.
