Wildcats are Embarrassed Following a 73-17 Shellacking By USF
If you don't want to get embarrassed playing the USF Bulls, you better come prepared or bend the knee.
The Kentucky Wildcats did neither and without their starting backfield, they were thoroughly whipped in a 73-17 shellacking at the hands of the Bulls on Saturday.
When Bulls head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. was asked about the decision to keep scoring late in the game, his answer was a simple but one that is certain to ruffle some feathers up in Lexington.
"[Kentucky] decided to keep playing," said Francois, "They have a young quarterback and they were trying really hard to get him a touchdown and they did late in the game. Well, if we're going to keep playing football, let's keep playing football."
Francois and Kentucky head coach Matt Campbell did not shake hands after the game and probably for the best as USF poured on twenty eight points in the final quarter, including Jed White's five-yard touchdown run with 29 seconds left in the game.

USF senior running back Derrick Green out for season with shoulder injury
Cooper Byrd -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer
USF head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. announced to the media on Wednesday that senior running back Derrick Green will 'most likely' miss the rest of the season after tearing his shoulder against Kentucky.
Green, who rushed for a career high 722 yards last season, has dealt with injuries each of his four seasons with the Bulls and his career at USF will seemingly end with him on the sidelines once more. A former five-star recruit, Green was having his best season yet with 6.8 yards per carry on the year. In four seasons, he rushed for 1,948 yards and eleven touchdowns.
The injury puts more pressure on running back David Fuller, whose had injury concerns of his own. Outside of his 1,331 yard season in 2024, the former five-star has dealt with injuries each season as well, including missing nearly all of his freshman season. Other names to watch include running back Jason Finley and redshirt freshman Ronnie Smith. The team isn't likely to burn true freshman Dion Rogers' redshirt as shown by the fact that tight end and former high school quarterback J.J. Francois has taken snaps at the position this week.

USF Bulls Win 56-42 Against Georgia Bulldogs
After steamrolling through their early competition, many wondered how the USF Bulls would react to adversity.
Trailing for the first time this season in the second half, they responded with seventeen unanswered points before putting away the Georgia Bulldogs for good on their way to a 56-42 win on Saturday.
Georgia was able to cut in on USF's lead right before the end of the half, scoring a touchdown with 22 seconds left to make it a three point game. Georgia then scored on their first drive of the second half to take the 28-24 lead. They would not score again until four minutes left in the game while the Bulls proceeded to score twice in the third quarter with the Francois family contributing with Malcolm Francois Jr.'s touchdown, Jean-Jacques Francois' touchdown before the end of the third and a Pierre Francois interception in the fourth.
It was another Heisman-esque performance for quarterback Jed White, eclipsing 400-yards passing to go with his six total touchdowns and a lone blunder in the game where he fumbled on a scramble.
USF did not escape the game without losses, however. Starting running back David Fuller left the game with an injury, opening the door for Jason Finley to rush for 115 yards. The Bulls were already down one running back in Derrick Green entering the game.

Tennessee Top247 cornerback Jay Burke commits to Bulls over West Virginia
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider
USF fans can finally take a breather, they have a commitment.
After an unusually slow start to the cycle, the Bulls have their first commitment and it's at a position of need, landing four-star cornerback Jay Burke out of Bloomindale, Tennessee. Burke had offers from West Virginia, Navy, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and others.
Burke was on campus last weekend for his official visit and it's safe to say that things went well for the 5'11", 191 pound corner that is the third ranked player at his position according to the 247 Sports rankings.
With a verified 4.36 40-time this past spring, Burke is one of the better athletes this cycle and fits the build to a tea in what the Bulls like in their defensive backs. He's got a solid frame and a move to safety is not out of the question but he's plenty fluid enough in coverage to remain a pure corner capable of operating both out of the slot and on the boundary. Current starters Sid Robinson and Corey Johnson are seniors and with Pierre Francois being more of a slot corner, Burke could potentially be a day-one contributor as a boundary corner.
A player the Bulls would love to pair Burke with in this class is five-star safety Jeremiah McCullough. It's been more of a fight than many expected considering that some thought the Miami product might commit to the Bulls as a junior last year. The commitment never came and it's clear now when McCullough has chosen to take all five official visits with trips scheduled to USF, Alabama, Florida State, Miami and UCF.
McCullough will be in Tampa for the Tennessee game in what is shaping up to be a massive recruiting weekend. Five-star athlete Corey Montgomery will also be in attendance as well as four-stars QB Antonio Whitehead, WR Paul Wilson, DE Nate Stewart and others.

Injury list pilling up for Bulls as RB Fuller, CB Mirvil head to injury report
Anthony Washington -- The Tampa Bay Chronicles
The University of South Florida will be without running back David Fuller and cornerback Jonathan Mirvil for the foreseeable future and most likely the rest of the season.
Fuller, a senior who has been the team's top running back since his sophomore season, broke his collarbone against Georgia and is expected to be out for the next two months, putting his final season at USF in jeopardy.
Since rushing for 1,331 yards in 2024, Fuller has been dealing with injuries here and there, causing him to miss game and being unable to continue his trajectory as a former five-star recruit. Since 2024, Fuller's yards per carry and yards per game has steadily declined and was averaging 4.9 yards per carry this year before the injury.
Replacing Fuller will be a tall task for the Bulls, especially with fellow senior running back Derrick Green sidelined with injuries of his own. Junior Jason Finley has turned heads this season, averaging 8.4 yards per carry and already having two runs of over twenty yards on just twenty carries. Redshirt freshman Ronnie Smith got his first career carries last week, rushing for 35 yards on four carries and looked explosive and decisive. Swiss army knife J.J. Francois got in on the action too and is averaging 5.8 yards per carry on the ground with this season with two rushing touchdowns. At six-foot-three and 235 pounds, the former high school running back gives the Bulls a different dynamic in the backfield with his size compared to the more slender Finley and Smith.
Mirvil primarily played special teams as a freshman before being elevated to the team's fourth corner this past season and has ten tackles to his names. He was picked on a bit in the game against Kentucky but his injury now forces the team to thrust true freshman Marcus Hodge into the picture probably a year earlier than the team expected. Hodge was a spring standout and a good athlete but with the team's toughest schedule up ahead, it's less than ideal to throw him into the fire as a true freshman.
