Bulls end season with four road games but get light load to begin the season
Cooper Byrd -- Dynasty Sports Staff Writer
It won't take long for the 2028 USF Bulls to have a chance to make history.
The Bulls open their season with a home matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks and with a win would give USF the longest home winning streak in NCAA history. They are currently tied with the Miami Hurricanes at 52, their last home loss coming against Wisconsin, almost a decade ago.
Their next three games are all home games with two of them being SEC opponents in Kentucky and Georgia before going on the road against #14 Ole Miss and then back home against #5 Notre Dame, likely their toughest test of the season.
USF will get a chance to avenge last season loss to Auburn with another road trip to Jordan-Hare before hosting #23 Tennessee for their last home game of the season. After that, it's four straight road games against Florida teams.

Oklahoma's Dukes, Tallahassee's Daniel first to commit to Bulls 2029 class
Eddie Fernandez -- 247 Sports USF Insider
Oklahoma State University and Florida State University saw two top local prospects from their respective stomping grounds commit elsewhere this past week.
At a 7on7 camp hosted by Rivals, five-star athlete Louis Dukes (Owasso, Oklahoma) and four-star athlete David Daniel (Tallahassee, Florida) both committed to the University of South Florida in a joint, surprise announcement that stole the show. While not on the same team for the tournament, Daniel and Dukes will be at the next level.
"It felt right," said Dukes, "We have a group chat with a lot of the [USF recruits] and when I said something about committing soon, David [Daniel] replied back like 'let's do it' and then everyone started blowing up the chat like 'do it right now, do it' so we just decided to go ahead and make the move."
Dukes, who was quarterbacking at the event, has been recruited as a receiver by the Bulls. He held offers from Tennessee, Pittsburgh and North Carolina who all primarily like him at quarterback. Dukes says he's open to the move and its one of the reasons why he chose the Bulls as he wants to be coached up by head coach Malcolm Francois Sr. who is also the program's WR coach.
Daniel is another versatile athlete that the Bulls are getting who plays both corner and receiver as well as some running back for his high school. His lack of a top end speed will likely land him at running back at the next level although the USF coaching staff is waiting until he gets on campus to make a decision as safety is not out of the question for him.
With their commitments, the Bulls now already have two commits within the 247 top 75.

Run of the Bulls ‣ USF Football News
Andrew Lake -- 247 Sports Staff Writer
‣ USF OL coach Jim Michalczik tinkers with OL; moves Simpson to offensive tackle
New USF offensive line coach Jim Michalczik doesn't have his starting five for the offensive line, no matter what message boards will have you believe. So much so that he's moving his most experience player, guard Chris Simpson, all over the place throughout fall camp.
Simpson has played both guard spots and both tackle spots in practices and through two scrimmages, most recently playing right tackle. While Michalczik has remained mum on the subject during press availabilities, the clips of scrimmage show Simpson, number 78, lining up all over the offensive line.
In the most recent scrimmage, the most common combo at the offensive line was redshirt junior James King at left tackle, redshirt senior Robbie Wade at left guard, redshirt junior Jason Harrington at center, sophomore Nick Matthews at right guard and Simpson at right tackle.
When Matthews kicks inside at center, redshirt junior Andrew Smart has been the replacement at right guard.
‣ Massey no longer part of the program
Former USF running back Donte Massey has enrolled at El Camino College in Torrance, California.
The second-year running back was arrested last March for carrying a concealed firearm and possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana. A former four-star recruit, the south Floridian native missed the spring game as a result of his arrest and hadn't been spotted at practices but continued to be listed on the team's official roster.
As is the norm, the program did not comment on the situation although Massey's enrollment at El Camino College confirmed what many suspected.
‣ Bulls agree to future home-and-home series with Texas, Oregon; Oklahoma in the works
The University of South Florida will face off against the Texas Longhorns in 2030 in Tampa and in 2033 in Austin, the school announced on Monday. They also agreed to play Oregon at home in 2031 and in Eugene in 2035.
The announcement gives the Bulls a booked non-conference schedule until 2032 with rumors of a series potentially being in the works with the University of Oklahoma.
The hold up has reportedly been the Sooners 'unwillingness' to come to Tampa and instead agree on a neutral site battle with the Bulls making the trip to Norman as well. Both sides have re-engaged following the agreement with Texas, according to a source close to the situation. Following USF's tumultuous exit from the Big 12, it was unclear if Big 12 teams would schedule non-conference matchups with the Bulls. With Texas agreeing to do so already, it opens the door for other Big 12 teams to consider the move.

Bulls Set NCAA Record With 53rd Consecutive Home Win With Victory Over Arkansas
With a touchdown on their first drive and the defense forcing a turnover on the second, the beginning of the USF and Arkansas game had all the makings of a blowout.
The game appeared to reverse its course when the Rhett Lashee led Razorbacks brought the game back within three points at the half with Arkansas receiving the second half kickoff with a chance to take their first lead of the game.
Two quarters later, it was business as usual with South Florida running away with the 45-14 victory on Saturday and breaking the NCAA record for most consecutive wins at home.
In the team's 53rd straight win at Raymond James Stadium, redshirt senior Jay Jackson threw for 241 yards and rushed for another 65 yards with four total touchdowns in his first start. Dion Rogers rushed for 121 yards, including three runs of over 20+ yards while true freshman Pookie Harrell added 88 yards on the ground as well.
The star of the day was outside linebacker Greg White who dominated the first half, recording four tackles for loss before finishing the game with five. The defensive line was able to neutralize the line of scrimmage and slow down Lashlee's offense.
Lashlee spent last season as the team's offensive coordinator before taking the head coaching job at Arkansas.
With a strong lead in the fourth quarter, Bulls fans got a glimpse of the future as redshirt freshman quarterback Antonio Whitehead closed the game going 2 of 2 for 27 yards and a touchdown toss to Corey Montgomery. He also rushed for 26 yards.

Boise State is Unhappy With Their Poor Showing Against USF
After dropping a wide open touchdown pass in last week's game, preseason All-American tight end Jean-Jacques Francois was benched for the first quarter.
With the team down a touchdown heading into the second quarter, Francois tied the game up with a 49-yard touchdown on third and long to keep Boise State from gaining any more confidence. His second touchdown with 7:31 left in the game would be the nail in the coffin as USF's defense dominated the Broncos on the way to a 38-10 victory.
Francois finished the game with 3 catches for 79 yards, all touchdowns or third down conversions as the Bulls offense continues to find its identity without former Heisman winner Jed White.
Leading rusher Dion Rogers left the game with an injury, setting the stage for Pookie Harrell to rush for a career high 104 yards and two touchdowns in his second game, including a 39-yard run in the second quarter.
Rogers would return and finish the game with 39 yards on the ground.
